Why Once Saved, Always Saved is Garbage

The doctrine "Once Saved, Always Saved" teaches that once a person receives salvation, they can never lose it for any reason. This is not biblical or consistent with the teaching of the Church. Nevertheless, many people argue that because salvation is a "free gift", that humans do nothing to earn it, and therefore can do nothing to lose it.
In this video, Keith makes the case for why this view is wrong.

Do you not realize? You are the ones that are cheapening GOD’s good grace on us by saying his gift (which is everlasting) is not actually everlasting as you can “lose it”, as his analogy of losing a gift goes. All you have to do is outstretched your hands to receive a gift, how hard is it to believe? You can believe in vain if your belief is not on Jesus alone but on your works also, that’s what it means to be lukewarm. Jesus’s commandments unto us that we should follow, is spelled out for you in 1John 3:22-24. If you do not understand the role of good works, may I point you to mark 9: 50 ; so as to show that Philippians 2: 14-16. All the verses are in KJV.

The regenerated believers of Christ Jesus cannot lose the salvation of God which they have received. We are saved by grace through faith and our works do not save us (Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 Corinthians 3:15), and when we are saved it is by receiving the Holy Spirit and confession of faith (Romans 10:9, Titus 3:5). Faith is the substantiation of things hoped for and things not seen (Hebrews 11:1), you substantiate Christ as the Holy Spirit, the unseen One (1 Peter 1:8), when you are regenerated unto a living hope (1 Peter 1:3) by receiving the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38 - "And Peter said to them, Repent and each one of you be baptized upon the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.") And have we been regenerated of something that is corruptible? "Having been regenerated not of corruptible seed but of incorruptible" (1 Peter 1:23). "For the gracious gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." (Romans 11:29). No, rather, if you receive the Holy Spirit, you are a child of God and a recipient of the incorruptible, irrevocable, and eternal life of God and no one can snatch you out of the Father's hand. (John 10:28). Additionally, by this life we become children of God by nature, "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the authority to become children of God, to those who believe into His name," and this is because we contain God's very life (Greek: Zoe) from the very moment we are born again, and therefore God will never destroy us: 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 - "Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him; for the temple of God is holy, and such are you." Furthermore, "neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor things present nor things to come nor powers... will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39). That's things present nor things to come, *including His judgement*. This is because Romans 8:28-30 says that all things work together for good to those who are called, "those whom He foreknew, He also predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son" "and those whom He predestinated, these He also called; and those whom He called, these He also justified; and those whom He justified, these He also glorified." This is nothing less than the eternal destiny of the believers, the called ones, the recipients of the Spirit and of eternal life. Scripture is clear regarding our eternal destiny, Scripture on this subject only becomes blurred when you include verses referring to matters other than eternal salvation, such as the Kingdom. There are no conditions nor extents you have to go to after receiving Christ to receive eternal life. Rather, it is “according to the selection of grace”, God’s selection, “otherwise grace is no longer grace” (Romans 11:5-6). Anything apart is a salvation of works, even Lordship salvation is a work, as it suggests that rather than simply receiving the Spirit of sonship (Rom 8:15) to be assured of our eternal salvation, we must make Jesus our Lord to a fuller extent for it to be real faith. To the contrary, real faith is the substantiation of the Spirit of God! We should still make Jesus our Lord to a fuller extent of course, and woe to those who use this assurance to waste the gift of grace, as we must run the race with endurance to receive the reward and not punishment. But we must be enlightened to see that being deprived of the Kingdom, being erased from the book of life during the millennial Kingdom of Christ is a punishment of great severity, as it is to be removed from the experience of the life of God for a time. However, it is not a permanent removal equivalent to eternal condemnation because according to Scriptures, the children of God can never be eternally condemned according to the promises of God. Ask yourself whether losing God’s presence momentarily is equivalent to losing your salvation, it is not, we lose God’s presence every time we sin, and thus we need to be cleansed by the blood every time to be restored (1 John 1:6-8). Also ask yourself whether saved in the context of what you are reading is referring to being saved from eternal condemnation or whether it is referring to your sanctification for making ourselves ready to inherit the Kingdom reward and the wedding feast (Rev 19:7-8) and avoid punishment. Note when the Bible mentions the Kingdom whether it is referring to the millennium or to eternity. Eternity in the new heavens and earth doesn't come into play until Revelation 21, 1000 years after the second coming and judgement executed by Christ (Rev 20:4), by which time the non-overcoming/foolish/slothful believers have been made holy by the refining fire of the outer darkness(Matt 22:13): "If anyone’s work is consumed, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire” (1 Corinthians 3:15).

Religion is only Good for one thing, giving the gospel. After that Just go to scripture on your own.. No videos, no body but you and God. Every religion claims to know the Truth and All think they are the Only ones going to heaven while they Judge everyone else. Unless Spiritual Truth Has MANY Truths, they ALL are Wrong. All you need is God my friend. Don't let a religion or man tell you what kind of relationship you have with a ALL powerful Spiritual God.. Its Spiritual, Not Carnal.

Ok, double dipping here. Back in July of 1997 I surrendered my life to Christ. I was all in and I still am. I was in New Age, addicted to alcohol, and my marriage was at the breaking point. I had a potty mouth and confusion on issues sexual. When I cried out to my Lord for forgiveness and surrendered my all to Him with all my heart Holy Spirit rushed in. I am sober, my potty mouth is gone by no effort of my own. It is my joy to spend time alone with Him. My desire is to obey and serve Him. This is not my own doing. Holy Spirit with in me longs for intimacy with Him. I've been given a new heart to replace my heart of stone. Yes , I have struggles with the flesh, I have help in time of need . I have grace and forgiveness when I fall. The works come without trying. A woman I know would listen to me talk about my Lord, she said she wants what I have. I wasn't trying to convince her. That was God! I sent her a message. She said it's exactly what she needed. That was my Lord. I had no idea. The works are accomplished by God when the heart is surrendered. My point, true conversation brings about a change of heart. Works come as a natural out pouring from abiding in the vine. When a person is truly born again they cannot be unborn just like in the natural. Holy Spirit has a hold on that person that woos them to Jesus when they get on a wrong path. If a person is just looking for a get out of hell free card I feel sorry for them. I also feel sorry for the one who believes "their" works will help get them in the kingdom. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace we are saved through faith. That not of ourselves , it is a gift of God. Not of works lest any man should boast. ✝️

A Christian is marked by God and sealed by the Spirit. “You also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession-to the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:13-14). At the moment of faith, the new Christian is marked and sealed with the Spirit, who was promised to act as a deposit to guarantee the heavenly inheritance. The end result is that God’s glory is praised. For a Christian to lose salvation, God would have to erase the mark, withdraw the Spirit, cancel the deposit, break His promise, revoke the guarantee, keep the inheritance, forego the praise, and lessen His glory.

You misunderstand the scriptures. The seal is the promise that "if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). Notice the conditional statement on salvation. The seal is on Christ's end, not ours. In other words whosoever shall confess AND believe has Christ's guarantee of salvation. However if you turn away after this confession you can most certainly lose your salvation. Once saved, always saved is garbage and is found no-where in scripture. Read Ezekiel 18:21:32. God the Father is telling us that you can lose your salvation. Those who deny Him before others, He will deny before the Father.

Why will you die, people of Israel? 32 For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent and live! Your new heart and new spirit is given by god to the believer. Justified by Faith But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: rom3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. rom5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: rom5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. acts 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. rom4:6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. colossians1:20 and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through the blood of His cross. psalm103:10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins or repaid us according to our iniquities. psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. 2 corrin 5:19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. rom 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,

Brother, I couldn't agree more! Your "free gift" analogy is spot on. I commend your dedication and the two decades of youth ministry and discernment that led you to this point. Let's delve deeper into the concepts of "saved" and "life everlasting." Many of us tend to focus on the future rewards, overlooking the present joy and fulfillment found in Christ. The Holy Spirit, Eucharist, and Forgiveness are essential components of this present joy. I'm curious about your perspective on the "gold" of Everlasting Life and Jesus's Life, as well as the role of the Holy Mother Church in guiding us to live the Gospel in our daily lives. These are significant topics worth exploring.

The final payment for the world's sins was made! The wages of sin was death, and Christ died that death for our sins, making the way clear for us to be saved. Now after believing that He died for our sins, was buried and has risen, Ephesians 1:13 assures us that we were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise. Meaning we never have to worry about our salvation again. You have tried all the gimmicks. You've jumped through all the hoops. You've gotten fairly good at doing spiritual gymnastics, but have you ever just tried resting? Resting in Christ and His finished work? Regardless of what the evangelicals and denominational churches tell us, the gospel is not repent and be baptized for the remission of sins. (Acts 2:38) It is not keeping the commandments and selling all your possessions (Matthew 19:16-21.) It is not he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved (Matthew 24:13.) The gospel of your salvation is: "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel... By which also ye are saved,... how that Christ died for our sins... he was buried, and that he rose again the third day..." The word "gospel" means GOOD NEWS. And the good news of how God was "in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them;" has been overshadowed by the "Gospel Buffet" for far too long! It's time you ignore the buffet table and rest in this good news. As ambassadors for Christ, we would like to refer you to Truth Time Radio, also on youtube and facebook, they are very pleased to help you better understand your bible and better articulate your faith to others. Have a blessed day with insight, wisdom and discernment! Remember, you only get two educations: The one you're given, and the one you give yourself.

There are two ways this verse can be harmonized with the countless verses that show that a believer can fall away. 1. Jesus is referring to the end of time when his true sheep are with him forever (not making a guarantee to people on Earth). 2. Jesus is saying nothing can take you from him; and that’s true. Those who can rest well can flow well in the spirit. Joy and insecurity cannot co-exist. When there is insecurity in a relationship, there cannot be joy. Are you saved? Are your sins forgiven? Then believe in the promise of Jesus that you shall not perish!! Once Jesus gives you eternal live, you will never perish (Even by your own hand, or otherwise Jesus lied.). Or when our Lord said, “Why do you call me Lord, Lord and not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46). How can you be a Protestant and reject the doctrine of OSAS? That's one of the pillars of Protestant soteriology, so if you reject it, then logically you would have to reject Protestantism as well. And how do you go about restoring yourself to a state of grace and healing the relationship between you and God after committing mortal sin? There's a reason why Christ gave the Apostles the power and authority to forgive sins in John 20:20-23: because He knows that humans are fallen creatures that suffer from the triple concupiscence (the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the prde of life) and would be too weak to maintain their state of grace and would quickly back into their old patterns.

@@lukebrasting5108 There is a lot of variances in Protestantism. Protestantism strength is its adaptability, but it becomes weak when it atomized. The more liturgical churches like Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox have their unity as strength, but they can become authoritarian. OSAS comes out of one of the 5 points of Calvinism, in this case preservation of the saints, not Protestantism as a whole. There are strains of Protestantism that disagree with OSAS. Jacobus Arminius (a reader of Luis de Molina's writings) is closer to what I stand theologically than with John Calvin. Martin Luther, the man who kicked off the Protestant Reformation, also rejected OSAS. A very similar argument in the Catholic Church is the 400+ year dispute between the Jesuits (Molinists) and Dominicans (Thomists). Protestants do not delineate between venial and moral sins. They are all mortal. Everything is laid at the cross. So, if someone sins after accepting Christ's gift of salvation, then it is confessed, and he is faithful to forgive in accordance with 1 John 1. You have to lay it at the cross and repent. That is how you stay in his will. " Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." (John 14:4 NIV) You are eternally secure if you stay within the true vine, the Lord himself. I would argue that the only way to leave a state of grace is to actively tell the Holy Spirit to leave. If you can let him and he will eat with you (Revelation 3:20), it is logical he will listen if you don't want him there. Isn't that what Hell ultimately is? Either you will tell God "Your will be done" (Heaven) or he will tell you "Your will be done." (Hell) I won't call OSAS heresy as I will only call something heretical if it is incompatible with the atonement and resurrection. It is an unusual definition, but it prevents insulting people. The truth is a sword. Be careful with it.

Referring to the Holy Spirit, He said, "Whoever believes in Me shall have rivers of living water bubbling up inside." By logic, if you do not have those 'rivers of living water,' then you are not saved. Do you know Christ or know about Him? Are you seated in the heavenlies with Christ? @@fredost1504 do you refute the Bible then? James 2:14-16 explicitly states that faith without works are dead. You are the one who is confusing things. There is a vast difference between keeping the law (laying the foundation on your own will and belief that keeping that law will bring salvation) and doing good works (laying a foundation in Christ, whose grace allows you to do good works to HIS glory.) I would encourage you to research what the words “believe” and “faith” mean biblically. They are not mere intellectual consent that Jesus is God and died for our sins. You don’t just “believe with your heart and not your mind.” We must believe, repent, be baptized, keep His commandments (do good works), and endure to the end in order to be justified when we die. I will concede that initial salvation is done through faith alone, you must first lay your foundation on Christ. Ordinarily this is done through Baptism. If one were to die immediately after this, they would inherit the kingdom of God. However, this who live their lives beyond initial justification have fairly clear instructions layed out in the Bible for continued justification. Belief with Repentance and Baptism (initial justification): Mark 16:16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” Acts 2:38-41 “And Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, every one whom the Lord our God calls to him.’ And he testified with many other words and exhorted them, saying, ‘Save yourselves from this crooked generation.’ So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.” Justification through Good Works: James 2:24 - You see a man is justified by works and NOT FAITH ALONE. Matthew 5:43-45 - “You have heard that it was said, “You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.” But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven” Matthew 7:21-25 - “Not every one who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.’ Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. The NEED for preserverance until the End: Matthew 10:22 - “and you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.”

He got me when he said.”Do you think a faith that can’t save, saves” meaning if you don’t think your faith is enough that it will save you you do not have TRUE saving faith. And that if you do have a true faith that it WILL save you. John 10:27-28. For reference says no one will snatch the believers from gods hand. To reiterate. If you don’t think your faith will save you it won’t, it’s not true faith. If you believe your saved and believe in God then you are saved and it is impossible for anyone to be condemned. It doesn’t says they can’t be lost or wander astray. It just says god is the shepherd and when one goes astray he will leave the 99 to bring him back. @Keith "once saved always saved" is also in direct conflict with 1 Corinthians 11: 27-29. St. Paul proclaims that one may not partake of the bread and cup unworthily lest they bring judgement onto themselves. My questions are that if a saved person is always saved... 1. How would it be possible for a saved person to be in an unworthy state? 2. How could a saved person eat and drink judgement onto one's self? 3. Why would mere bread and wine, unchanged into something other than mere bread and wine have such importance that one could eat the bread and drink the wine unworthily whether they are once saved, always saved or not? The Protestant doctrine of once saved, always doesn't just contradict 1 Corinthians 11: 27-29, it is at war with that passage.

You’re being mislead by this false teacher my friend. Stick to the Baptists. It’s odd because the Catholic Church makes hurdles for salvation and their teachings are antithetical to the Bible. For one the second commandment is automatically broken by having their idols. When it comes to eternal security a Sovereign God would absolutely provide it. Or is He incompetent in your eyes? What does Ephesians 2:8,9 say, Galatians, Titus 3:5, Roman’s 11. This man is teaching heresy. He’s saying we got to keep ourselves saved and it’s dependent on us to keep a free gift. God doesn’t need our help, He wants our complete trust and even faith in this case is a gift from God. Our righteousness is as filthy as rags as the Bible points out so Christ’s righteousness was imputed into the saved Christian. This guy is not theologically sound and is a false teacher. He is misleading his audience and will be held accountable to God. So the thief on the cross next to Jesus, what works did he do to earn entrance into heaven, a gift already granted to Him by Jesus unconditionally. When Jesus says it is finished, believe His Word. And throughout a Christian’s life God will complete the work He began in them through sanctification and being more conformed to the image of Christ. Who are you to negate what God promised His children. Those who believe in grace through Christ alone are biblical and know that our standing and name in the book of life can never be erased although people like this who so desperately wants to take it away and add woks to God’s perfect salvation.

I admire your zeal strongly, it's been revealed to me in the word through the Spirit that when we dissect and interpret scripture we must be intentional about keeping every word within it's context less we risk posistioning ourself as blind guides, when you are zealous about what's been revealed to you it can be challenging to discernfully be impartial, but from my understanding brother within context Jesus was saying that if you dont obey what Proverbs calls wisdoms call then you won't inherit eternal life. To heed the gospel is to have faith that what He did already is sufficient, His grace and His sacrifice. To endure til the end speaks of remaining steadfast in the faith without being taken away or falling away, because faith was the key element in us heeding the call of what saved us. ("Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved"). Now as I see it we must ask ourselves if I'm believing in Jesus' sacrifice only in part but honestly believe that I can maintain the salvation His sacrifice full on an incentive basis of good behavior, is that not a blatant mockery of His sacrifice and does that not undermine the message of "faith, not works". Faith without works is dead states that having been bought and made new out of obedient GRATITUDE for what we've received we should but of course WANT to be renewed & serve in surrender and give generously and the whole 9- none of these things earn or deserve God's approval nor acceptance and to say I think they can has to derive from the same realm of thinking that would suggest to me I'm my own righteousness instead of Christ being my righteousness. Furthermore, sanctification sets us apart from conscious, intentional, behavioural, verbal, or thoughtful sin but isnt a guarentee that human nature will ever be rid of being sinful because it wont.

@@mikelopez8564 I am even more confused by your comment! Do you mean to say that Paul's assertion that he will be judged by Jesus means that he had no confidence in his own salvation and in the One who called him who is Christ Himself? 1 Corinthians 4 follows 1 Corinthians 3 which talks about the those who are in the ministry how they serve God ~ their work will be tested (by Jesus who is the judge), therefore Paul is not concerned about the judgement of men in the next Chapter. However the 3rd Chapter also tells us those in ministry who built their ministries with worthless materials, their works will burn up while those who built with with solid materials their work will stand the test, the judgement so to say ~ yet none of them will be lost. In other words, their eternal destiny in Christ is secure. Don't you think?
@mikelopez8564
@mikelopez8564 Жыл бұрын
@@Nolongeraslave do you see you have changed “eternal security” to “confidence “. Catholics would say we have hope and can know with good assurance when we are in a state of grace. Walking out of a confessional after having repented and confessed our sins is a time like this. We know that God gives grace and some people get more grace than others and this coincides with Scripture and Tradition teachings on election. Whenever salvation is discussed in scripture it is always a conditional statement, “but he that shall persevere to the end shall be saved”. Mt24:13. If this, then that. Calvin came up with the idea of “eternal security” in the 16th century. Anyone can see how nice that would be, to be saved once and not worry about sin destroying our relationship with God. The problem is, it’s not true. The 1 Cor 3 is about a purification after death that everyone will encounter and not just preachers/ministers. In the text, Paul says ANY man several times. We do not believe everyone will be saved by this process, however.

If we fall short of what christ told us to do, which is his two commandments, that rest on all the laws and the commandments, you will not continue to live in sin, you will repent and ask for forgiveness, then do what Christ told you to do . if you believe you are saved , and you are living outside of the will of God, you better check yourself because he will not be mocked. So Dave, are you sinless now? Are you're thoughts always pure and well intentioned? Don't lie to yourself. You're right about one thing, your sins can't enter heaven, so don't let your jaw hit the floor when God declares you're heading to hell because nothing in your life was a perfect sacrifice to earn heaven. God isn't against any of the good actions you did, but his wrath is still on you like a homming missile for the sins you actually commited. You won't be able to avoid God's wrath. Yet, as scriptures say, Jesus died for all your sins (including the ones you haven't commited yet) and he rose 3 days later for your justification and to guarantee you eternal life. Jesus' blood make you 100% covered, the wrath of God is no longer on you the moment you believe. It's why you're born again spiritually. No 'Once Saved, Always Saved' believers preach to lead a life in debauchery. We only recognize that all humans are still in the flesh and keep being corrupted because of the flesh, but our trust of the gospel is liberating believers of the eternal damnation. All in all, if you decline the free gift of God, which is clearly on rest without work, then you'll have to be part of the tribunal that send to hell for each of your sins.

However we treat the lowest is how we treat Him. If we say we have faith in Jesus, but don’t do these works of mercy for the lowest in society, then that faith is dead. Aren't we supposed to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling? . Even Paul says he is not assured but rather runs the race to win. He presses on to know the higher calling. . And why would our blessed Lord waste time with judgement at the end, or is it that He is simply stamping our passports???. . Take care if you think you stand, lest you fall. . If Jesus is death, doesn’t save you from sin and hell then what does it do? Why did Jesus die on the cross if not to save you? In other words, if he died on the cross to save you when you sin again, and you are no longer saved what was the point in the first place?
@HillbillyBlack
@HillbillyBlack 2 ай бұрын
Learn to ask better questions. Does God transform the heart? Are we regarded as sons for correction? Can the redeemed, from the heart, curse Jesus? Does God cause us to walk in his rules and statutes? Did you let God save you? By Faith do we have peace with God in Christ? Does God Bring the redeemed to completion? Can anyone come to Jesus outside of the biblically explicit draw of God? Does Christ lose any that God gives him? What is eternal life according to Jesus? What is God’s truth according to Jesus? Jesus says he will lose none the father GIVES him but raise them up on the last day. An additional dilemma is you have to understand the constructs of the absolute factors of salvation and the inability of the believer. Paul says - 1 Corinthians 12:3 ESV Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says "Jesus is accursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except in the Holy Spirit. You can’t a apostatize or curse Jesus if you’re conversion is real. John said- 1 John 3:9 ESV No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. You are in capable of continued practiced sin. It is not a situation where you’re choosing not to or you cannot because you’re not supposed to. No no, the Greek interlinear and the translated English means the same thing. It means that the believer in-dwelt by the Holy Spirit is incapable of continued unrepentant sin. And not even the continuation of unrepentant sin loses the Spirit of God because not only do you struggle with a Sin but you are corrected continually from sin and brought out. It is a guarantee. Not even a believers erroneous mentality of licensed sin would last very long. The spirit would break them. Philippians 1:6, 2:12-13 Hebrews 12:4-8 This is why conversion continues to the end. Your distance from sin continues because you are a new creation. The new that puts off the old is incapable of returning to death. If you see people doing this, they were never really of us, for if they were of us they would not have left us.

Actually, I think you're asking the right question. I asked myself that question many times, until I finally listened to Brant Pitrie's CD "Jewish roots of the Eucharist" and Jewish roots of holy week." Both are available for purchase on Catholic Productions. Also, you could read Scott Hahn's "Fourth Cup," or watch Father John Ricardo "Rescue Project" -free on KZfaq. They all answer your question very well... The shortest answer I can think of is that forgiveness is an ongoing effort with Jesus just like in any relationship. His death on the cross allows us to have that personal relationship of forgiveness. Whereas, in the Old testament to receive God's forgiveness they were required to sacrifice a lamb once each year at the Passover and eat it's flesh. If Jesus is the Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world, as John the Baptist said, then Jesus is the lamb sacrificed, the Eucharist is his flesh, and that's exactly why we have to participate in the Eucharist at Mass at least once each year to complete the New Covenant. Just like our Jewish ancestors were required to participate in the Passover, our participation in the Eucharistic Mass is required for forgiveness of sin. It completes the annual New covenant of forgiveness. Because of Jesus' death on the cross, we can receive forgiveness whenever we want through confession and by going to the mass to eat His flesh and complete the Passover covenant again and again. Like Kevin Nestor said, it requires our participation.

JOHN 10:6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them. Jesus is the door, there is no other way. You have to believe he died on the cross for all your sins, he rose again 3 days later for your justification and guarantee you eternal life. The devil want you to believe you can save yourself and that Jesus is only a mere extra in the background. Jesus isn't just a motivational coach to make you fight sin, he's your savior, he's the only one who could vainquish sin and the devil, so that you can only believe in him to be saved. Read about the bronze serpent and moses' people in the wilderness, it was used by Jesus as an anology to show you how easy salvation is meant to be. Only proud people who think they're righteous hate eternal security, because deep inside their ego they're convinced they'll win God's favor from their own lifestyle and their own perception of grandeur.

@@fivevs1 when Jesus was alive, it was still old testament. The point Jesus was conveying in the books of Matthew, Mark and Luke is that you cannot follow commandments. Jesus knew that most people, especially jews, always think high of themselves, everyone see themselves as excellent followers. The pharisees, who imagined themselves as very close to God, failed epically and even made Jesus cruxified. All along Jesus knew it was going to happen. His death and resurection was predicted since the beginning. It's why Abraham never hesitated to offer Isaac as sacrifice, he knew by faith his son was going to be the promised redeemer of the world and resurect, but God had a greater plan: he will die himself as the perfect lamb. The fact that God has choosen to take this burden for us make it the perfect gift. None of us can be sinless or even be close to perfect righteousness. It's why Jesus came to take the penalty for us. It's the free gift you have to accept, without any additional effort. EPHESIANS 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. ROMANS 4:4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. God made salvation simple and easy. It's up to you to overcomplicate salvation to the point you may have never believed the gospel, which you'll perish. Judas perished because he never believed, not because he betrayed Jesus. Peter is the perfect example of people assuming their loyalty was going to save him, but he betrayed Jesus too by denying Jesus three times, right after he claimed he'll die for him. The reason Peter was already saved and didn't lose salvation is because he believed, he knew Jesus the giver eternal life. And Peter didn't maintain his salvation because he kept preaching the good news until his death, he was already guaranteed eternal life.

A much more concrete way of saying "Faith alone" would be "Trust alone" - or "Trust in Jesus Alone" - this I can get on board with... because to me Trust entails: - making a daily decision to follow Him - Trusting Him enough to pray to Him - Trusting Him enough to worship Him - Trusting Him enough to be obedient to Him - Trusting Him enough to honor Him - Trusting Him enough to honor every Human relationship I have - Trusting Him enough to Trust His Church - Trusting Him enough to see that the Sacraments help us Trust Him more etc, etc... In other words - Trust is a "work"! So "we are saved by Faith and not works" does not avoid works, but it specifically tells you which works you must do - not cermonial works, not works of the law, not works that don't build your Trust in Him, or works that you do by "going through the motions", but works that make you Trust Him more.

Our faith is very fruitful because there is so much that Jesus has taught us. Perseverance in learning our faith is a daily task. It’s not enough just to know what he has taught. I hear your arguments...but also...very concerned...I have met many Christians with your belief who are miserable through life as they worry incessantly that they can "loose" their salvation. These dear people live a life of worry and confusion, because they think they will loose salvation. As a Christian for over 50 years and having studied the scriptures in depth...The question I will ask you," How many sins must I commit to "loose" my salvation? How many obeisances return me to good standing...the questions are never ending...If I have salvation this morning can I loose it by noon? So you are saying that those documented in the Scriptures as having received salvation...Paul. Peter, the 3000 at Pentecost could just as easily lost that faith and salvation. What is the mechanism by which I" loose" salvation since scripture after scripture tells me believe, trust, confess the Lord Jesus Christ and I am saved. No by works of righteousness I have done, but by the atoning sacrifice and propitiation of Christ. I definitely believe that a pure life will follow salvation and the Holy Spirit does guide and convict me if I consider sin...but also, He the Holy Spirit leads me to cleansing and repentance. John states that if we say we have no sin (all people), that we are a liar and the truth is not in us. The Book of Romans presents the basis of salvation as Paul shows the total lostness of all mankind, Jew and Gentile. And then presents the wonderful gospel and the most wonderful news of salvation. A wonderful song that encapsulates the free, unmerited salvation of Christ is.."just as I am without one plea, but that Thy Blood (Jesus) was shed for me, and that Thou bidst me come to Thee, O Lamb of God I come." This is a important topic for much discussion and yes, the simplicity of the Gospel can be used wrongly used. But please do not shackle people with religious burdens that kill, steal and destroy. Blessings as you know Jesus as Lord and Savior! Hallelujah, what a Savior! Hallelujah, what a Salvation!

Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.” Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭21‬-‭23‬ Was Jesus lying about those who will call out to him not entering his kingdom❓Don’t we break God’s laws by our actions❓What happen to being “saved by grace through faith alone”⁉️ Judas serves as a prime example, he had God’s grace when he was picked as an Apostle and through his faith was given the power to heal the sick and cast out demons by Jesus himself BUT it was his one action/deed/work that caused him to be condemned by Jesus himself❗️ People claim to have “faith” as those Jesus himself encountered and yet he said the following to them❗️ 🔥“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” Matthew‬ ‭17‬:‭20‬ People don’t have enough “faith” to move mountains but they claim to have enough “faith” to guarantee their salvation before God can render his judgement⁉️ Is it not God alone who decides who will rise and who will fall❓ 🔥“It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall.” Psalms‬ ‭75‬:‭7‬ People need to properly discern scripture in order to see these false teachings for what they are… False Teachings‼️ If anyone’s OWN understanding of scripture from the Apostles words lead them to contradict Jesus’ own teachings then they have misinterpreted scripture‼️it’s that simple❗️ 🔥“Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings.” John‬ ‭8‬:‭31‬ “faithful to my teachings”‼️ 🔥“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” 2 Timothy 4:3 These following warnings go out to all Christians teaching “saved by grace through faith alone” 1. Did Jesus warn us about the consequences of our words❓ ⚠️“The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12‬:‭37‬ 2. Did the Apostles warn us about teaching our Father’s words❓ ⚠️“Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.” James‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬ ⚠️“Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.” 1 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬ Does that sound like your salvation is guaranteed by grace through faith alone⁉️

Great points. Hallelujah, what a Savior! And that's why I'm not Catholic, who believe that their good works save them. (Also in a perfect Pope!!) We are SAVED BY FAITH. Good works follow in our love for the Lord. But FREE WILL is not destroyed by Salvation. Many today are DEPARTING FROM FAITH, renouncing Jesus as Savior, TURNING AWAY from the Gospel. Will God FORCE them into Heaven? No. We must CONTINUE in the faith. The point at which OSAS Christians err is thinking, "How can a sin make me unsaved?" Jesus can and will forgive any and every sin - IF we REPENT. But a willful, deliberate, continual lifestyle of sin mocks God, showing that the person no longer BELIEVES.

No one comes to the Father except through me.“ ‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Jesus is the narrow gate. How are you saying that scripture in Luke is talking about works?? It’s similar to Matthew 7 about being in Christ? ”Once the owner of the house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Sir, open the door for us.’ “But he will answer, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’“ ‭‭Luke‬ ‭13‬:‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬ This is clearly about being in Christ. Same as Mathew 7 as well. Mathew 7:21-23 is literally talking about good works! ”Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Matthew 7:22 NIV Are those not the good works y’all say we should do to keep our salvation? Then why were they still turned away after doing all that?? Because he NEVER knew them. Meaning they never came to Christ. Once he knows you, you are justified! ”know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.“ ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬ ”I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2‬:‭21‬ ‭NIV‬ So why did he call them law breakers in Matthew 7? Because if you live by the law, you die by the law. They chose to use their own deeds or them keeping the law instead of coming to Christ and putting their faith in him who has already kept the law perfectly for them. That’s why he said depart from me I NEVER knew you! Not, "Depart from me because I used to know you law breakers." Y’all keep skipping the first part of those verses for some reason. Because he’s saying ONLY those who do the will of his father will enter right? So what is the will of the father in Matthew 7:21? ”For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”“ ‭‭John‬ ‭6‬:‭38‬-‭40‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Y’all keep mentioning works and faith keep salvation. Here you go: “Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” ‭‭John‬ ‭6‬:‭28‬-‭29‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Judas was condemned because he killed himself under the law of Moses which is before Christ died on the cross. ‭‭

@@monishapendleton Due to the Biblical literacy you’ve freely displayed, I’ll go ahead and use a version most theologians use: First, Ephesians in full context❗️ 🕊️“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God- not because of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10 “for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them”❗️ You lukewarm Christian’s always conveniently leave that part out❗️ Second, continue reading John a little further to discover that Jesus ALSO states: 🕊️“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father.” John 14:12 “he who believes in me will also do the works that I do”❗️ You lukewarm Christian’s always conveniently leave that part out❗️ Third, let’s expand Luke’s passage❗️ 🕊️“And some one said to him, “Lord, will those who are saved be few?” And he said to them, “Strive to enter by the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the householder has risen up and shut the door, you will begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us.’ He will answer you, ‘I do not know where you come from.’ Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ But he will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know where you come from; depart from me, all you workers of iniquity!’” Luke 13:23-27 “depart from me, all you workers of iniquity”❗️ You lukewarm Christian’s always conveniently leave that part out❗️ Fourth, let’s expand Matthew’s passage❗️ 🕊️“Not every one who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.’ “Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock;” Matthew 7:21-24 “Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them” meaning works❗️ You lukewarm Christian’s always conveniently leave that part out❗️ Fifth, Let’s dive deeper because you clearly can’t seem to distinguish between works of the law and the law itself❗️ 🕊️“yet who know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” Galatians 2:16 “not justified by works of the law”❗️ “not by works of the law”❗️ “because by works of the law shall no flesh be justified”❗️ Not works in general but specifically in reference to “works of the law”❗️ learn the difference❗️ 🕊️“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:17-20 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them”❗️ “unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”❗️ 🕊️”Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works, and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness”; and he was called the friend of God. You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.” James 2:21-24 “You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone”❗️ Sixth, let the truth reveal itself: 🕊️“For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me; and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up at the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that every one who sees the Son and believes in him should have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:38-40 Was Jesus talking in general or specifically about himself❓ “and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me” “that I”❗️is specifically for Jesus, not everyone in general or what, will you raise people up at the last day❓ Y’all lukewarm Christian’s are trying hard to find an easy way into heaven but scripture clearly states that works are required, not that works alone will guarantee anyone their salvation but that they are required along side their faith as stated in Ephesians❗️ Lastly, we come to John but let’s rewind to the previous verse first: “Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you; for on him has God the Father set his seal.” John 6:26-27 “Do not labor for the food which perishes”❗️ He didn’t say “don’t labor in general” which by default is works but instead said “but for the food which endures to eternal life” meaning we are called to continue laboring/works❗️ Now let us understand John 28 & 29 separately but properly: 🕊️”Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” John 6:28 “the works of God” not the works of man, learn to distinguish them apart❗️ 🕊️“Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” - John 6:29 “This is the work of God” not of man, learn to distinguish them apart❗️

You made this video in the right time for me! I've been having a hard time understanding the thinking of some evangelicals. I've joined online prayers with a pastor and while the prayers have helped me a lot, I've had a hard time understanding all the theology in their teachings. It is so complicated. Because they try to hold on to the notion of salvation as a one time event and reconcile it with the very obvious facts that you can always sin, or turn away from God as much as you can grow in love, virtue and faith and that we are told to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. The idea of two types of judgment after death based on whether you are a believer or not and the idea of rewards escapes me. It is so complicated to understand. I don't know why they must complicate it so much. I find so many contradictions in the thinking that I'm sometimes wondering whether I really understand what they mean because other people (who are Protestant, unlike me) seem to get the explanation. What they sometimes finally get to is that two contradictory things are true at the same time and that it is a mystery. This pastor doesn't really say that you can't lose your salvation but that the only way to really lose it is walking away from God and why would anyone do it if they know Him.

ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED is a great lie from Hell. Let no one deceive you with vain words (Eph 5:6). Do you sin? Then you belong to the Devil (1 John 3:8). In order to be saved, one must be baptized and believe and observe ALL Our Lord commanded (Matt 28:20, Mark 16:16), which are taught by the Catholic Church founded on the 12 Apostles (Rev 21:14) with St. Peter as His Vicar (namely, Pope), on earth, vesting him with His Authority by giving him the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven (Matt 16:18-19). And knowing our frailties and our need of God's forgiveness, Our Lord instituted the Sacrament of Confession by giving the Apostles, their successors, priests, the power to forgive sins (John 20:23). So that, souls of the members of His Church, His Body and Bride (Eph 5:23) may remain pure and healthy, preserving the Sanctifying Grace given at the time of the Sacrament of Baptism. The wedding garment in the parable in Matt 22:12-13 is the Sanctifying Grace, without which one can not be saved. Without Sacraments which communicate Our Lord's Infinite Merits and Graces to the members of His Body, like Divine Sap of Vine (John 15:5-6), one can't save his soul. That's why 'Extra Ecclesiam nulla salus (outside the Church, no salvation)' is a Catholic Dogma (Catechism No. 846). For further information on this, please watch The Forgotten Dogma: No Salvation Outside the Catholic Church by Father Isaac Mary Relyea on KZfaq.

It seems that Catholics believe God has a lot higher standards about who He allows to go to Heaven. Could we Protestants be wrong about God's standards? Certainly. Also, a mature Christian, whether Catholic or Protestant, is not going to seek to do the barest minimum to get into Heaven. We should seek to obey God because it's the right thing to do. If we say, "I'm going to do whatever I feel like because God will forgive me" that is not a mature Christian attitude. We should love God so much that we want to serve Him.

If someone believes that a believer can lose their salvation, please answer these questions: 1. What is salvation or eternal life? Is it instantaneous or a gradual process? 2. Is salvation based on work or faith/belief? 3. At what point does the believer loses their salvation? 4. Can sin, beside unbelief, take someone to hell? Name the sin(s) and explain how. 5. I think that you are a believer. Can you (specifically, YOU), at any point in time in your life denounce your faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ? (Note: Your response your show whether you truly believe in Jesus or not. If you say, "YES", why do you think that another believer will denounce their faith in Jesus when it is NOT POSSIBLE for you to do so? 6. What specific gifts are received when someone surely believes in Jesus, as Savior? Does the nature and character of God reveal that God can revoke the gifts from the believer, even the backslider? 7. What is the ministry of the Holy Spirit towards the believer, especially concerning preservation and producing good works? 8. Do you believe that the Holy Spirit, at any point in time, can depart from the believer on earth due to sin? 9. Do you believe that Jesus who is all-knowing, will ever send the Holy Spirit to indwell an unbeliever who pretends to profess faith in Him (Jesus)? 10. How do you differentiate between salvation and rewards and how do you explain the judgement of the believer compared to the judgement of an unbeliever? If you can sincerely answer these questions, you will truly then realize that ETERNAL LIFE is an assurance for the believer. Once they are accepts and believes in Jesus (saved), they are truly saved, and NOTHING can separate us from the love of God. Glory to Jesus.

you are right. Jesus is not coming to die for you and me once again. He did once and for all. It is finished. He is coming first for the church(rapture) after the wedding and judgement of the righteous before his throne which will determine which reward you deserve depending on what you did for Him you will later during his second coming land with him on Earth as a saint and bride to come on the battle of Armageddon to rescue Jews/Israel and a new kingdom is established, this is now the second coming of Christ Jesus. The Old Testament was the shadows or prophesy of what was to come, and it came for it was Jesus Himself. now we are living the real serving God and real redemption and salvation. You have the sign of blood of the real lamb of God and your sins were bloated out once you got born again. You don't sin because when you sin the holy spirit inside you is holy and it is not comfortable to coexist with sin. But this does not mean that you have moved out of salvation because of the sin that you have found yourself in. Remember you never did anything soo good to gain salvation but rather it is God who brought you salvation to save his beloved man from perishing in hell. '' .....that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him will not perish......'' But just as with the Israelites, whom we are warned about three times in the NT, God does not force you. He will even discipline us. But if we decide to walk away, He will not stop us. Hence the warnings in Scripture. We must not interpret Scripture through the lens of our lives. There are plenty of people who have walked away from the Lord and the Bible testifies that it is not only possible but that it will happen. Thankful for the Lord's grace and mercy in your life. God bless.

john 3:36 is talking about a believer and unbeliever… not works for salvation… 1 corinthians 15:1-2 is talking about how the gospel you believe in should reveal the resurrection of Christ otherwise you believe in vain… not works for salvation… 2 peter 2:20-22 is talking about false converts/ teachers that pervert the gospel… they had a full exposure to the knowledge of Christ, but they rejected Christ in the face of fully understanding who He is… this is not about works for salvation… catholics abhor sola scriptura, believe you can’t interpret scripture apart from “the church” or “tradition” but their church is horrible at exegeting scriptures and force their collective interpretation into it! once you are saved you are eternally secure, there is no sin you can commit to knock you out of God’s Good Grace!

Mr. Nester, thank you for this. I was received into the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church 11 years ago, having a conversion of heart from evangelical protestant Christianity. The once saved always saved deception had my soul set on a fast track to perdition. I was taught early on that once I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior I could do nothing to loose the free gift of eternal Salvation. Thank God after meditating on the 51 psalm scales fell from my eyes and my journey home to The Church began. I firmly believe God loves us too much to leave us as orphans with nothing more than his Holy Word and our fallen nature to navigate this darkness. Without the barque of Peter we are but left to whatever feelings and promptings we deem to be Devine, or inspired by our own interpretation of The Holy Spirit. Viva Christo Rey

@@tomtemple69 Never claimed I am “saved”. I completely understand the doctrine that of “regeneration”. But asPhilippians 2 clearly states “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” 😉

@@domfecit if you understand the doctrine of regeneration and think someone can lose their salvation, you don't understand regeneration and stop misinterpreting that verse, we do not work on our salvation if you think that a truly saved person can lose their salvation, that means getting to heaven depends partly on the person that is works salvation, that is heretical The sense in which we are to work out our salvation in fear and trembling is twofold. First, the Greek verb rendered “work out” means "to continually work to bring something to completion or fruition." We do this by actively pursuing obedience in the process of sanctification, which Paul explains further in the next chapter of Philippians. He describes himself as “straining” and “pressing on” toward the goal of Christlikeness (Philippians 3:13-14). The “trembling” he experiences is the attitude Christians are to have in pursuing this goal-a healthy fear of offending God through disobedience and an awe and respect for His majesty and holiness. "Trembling" can also refer to a shaking due to weakness, but this is a weakness of higher purpose, one which brings us to a state of dependency on God. Obedience and submission to the God we revere and respect is our “reasonable service” (Romans 12:1-2) and brings great joy. Psalm 2:11 sums it up perfectly: “Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling.” We work out our salvation by going to the very source of our salvation-the Word of God-wherein we renew our hearts and minds (Romans 12:1-2), coming into His presence with a spirit of reverence and awe.

@@Sam-hh2ig Someone who thinks OSAS is an excuse to sin has bad theology. A saved person doesn't go looking for sin, they are already saved. If you could lose salvation then Jesus died for nothing. What do people think the "good news" is?
