I sometimes have this thought to myself. I think, man, Obi-Wan really is the glue that held this whole series and generations of characters together. Being Qui-Gon's apprentice and having a link with Dooku through that. Training the chosen one, serving in the clone wars, fighting alongside Yoda, creating Darth Vader (physically) and then training Luke even through death and being the one to call to Anakin before his death so he could become a force ghost. Dude's definitely the main character.

Darth Sidious underestimated both Yoda and Obi-Wan. By doing so, he created his own downfall. Had he killed all remaining Jedi, the next generation wouldn’t been a threat to his empire in both legends and canon.

but using only a lightsaber, Obi Wan never lost a straight up lightsaber contest. so yes he could have beaten him with force cheats, but not with only a lightsaber. He chose to fight that way to prove he could beat Obi Wan at his greatest strength. He thought he could fight on Obi's turf and come out on top. He was wrong. Can't come out on top when someone like that is already on the top ground. Obi Wan told him to surrender, too, but that was the last mercy that little punk was gonna get. Hello guys. Tyler, I am sorry but you are not correct here. Obi wan could have been destroyed if he attempted to arrest the Chancellor. You forget that Maul defeated Qui Gon and almost got obi wan. So if maul was that good, Palpatine was so much more powerful. Palpatine was not afraid of anyone. He was too powerful.

And yet so little research, the vast majority of content is the same material rehashed over 3, 4, possibly even more videos It's 20-30 minutes speaking a day, with a lot of filler, and most likely an editor The tiny amount of research there might be, such as merely watching the shows, would generally fall under free time and as a coincidence So no it's not a lot of writing and recording, it's actually an extremely minimal amount (over like 7-8 years at that)

Palpatine and Kenobi's relationship, despite their lack of contact, is in my opinion the greatest indirect relationship of the whole series! It also highlights the quality that makes Obi-Wan Kenobi my favorite character; his perseverance. Great video!

It’s actually poetic. What ultimately led to Sidious’ downfall, isn’t dissimilar from how the Jedi first fell. The Jedi were supremely confident and arrogant of their place in the universe. They wouldn’t even acknowledge the existence of the Sith at first. Then Sidious, in his arrogance, deemed the remaining Jedi as no threat to his empire. Not even considering that just maybe, they too could hatch a plan while in hiding.

Great show. I feel that Palpatine was so immersed in The Dark that his arrogance blinded him to the path the The Force had prepared for Obi-Wan. Similar to the way Yoda was actually blinded by The Light and could see Palpatine.

Yoda knew much better though. He refused to let Obiwan go confront Sidious, warning him he was not ready for such an opponent. Yoda was the best bet in destroying Sidious, an even he fell short

@@frankdees507 Maybe. To me what really shook Sidious was what he had to have seen as the utter ruthlessness of leaving a maimed, burned, barely alive Vader for dead. Sidious preached that the battle isn't over until your opponent is dead. What Obi Wan did was probably being unmerciful even beyond a Sith's level.

Explaining why qui gon always felt obi was best suited to train anakin. But qui gon was the best option. Qui gon in the books had a lover only duku knew of. And he lost her thus he embarked on a slight dark side path. Amazing character development he got

he was all dedicated to the Jedi dogma - althought I agree he had and utter dedication to the Light -, in such matter you must be confusing him with Qui Gon which followed not the Order but the will of the living force; and how many times the both clashed because of it, even with kenobi saying that Qui gon was not on the council because of it, as it mattered to Qui Gon.

Honor is why Obi-wan stood so resolute in the face of darkness. A lot of Obiwans success was from his training with Quigon. Obiwan unlocked god mode vs Vader then in his final battle he became a god

Actually in the original script , George had it where the Emperor tries to off Obi-wan in his office . The fight ended with Obi-wan disarming Pap's and Pap's using force lighting as Kenobi blocked it with his lightsaber, Anakin felt the disturbance in the force, rushed to the apartment window to stop Pap's and Obi-wan. Anakin tells Kenobi to leave, end scene. George felt that obi-wan had too many duels for the movie, so Mace Windu was inserted for the arrest scene.

I think there might be another point to this argument. The only thing that Sidious feared was a Jedi led revolt against his rule, that is why he worked so hard to make them the enemies of the people of his empire. A man like Kenobi, a man who was "nothing special among the Jedi" could have inspired others to follow him. Like the Jedi heroes of the past, he could have rallied the galaxy, and that was something even a Sith feared. So many times, had a Jedi led the people against the Sith empire and won, and now, with only two, the Sith were easy targets.

What galaxy have you been living in? Palpatine did beat Yoda, did kill 3 master jedi before turning on Mace Windu and fighting him until anakin arrived, then manipulating the situation until anakin intervened and then Palpatine turned his full power on Mace killing him outright. As for kenobi, Palpatine didn't even worry about him. He was no threat to the Empire or Palpatine.

Palpatine would absolutely annihilate Obi-Wan. Yoda already stated Kenobi would be no match for Palpatine in ROTS, and Palpatine grew way more powerful after ROTS. Prime Palpatine would also annihilate Mace and Yoda, though they were comparable to him in ROTS.

Obi Wan, especially by the time of RoS - since the Clone Wars stripped him of that bit of arrogance defeating Maul gave him, became what every Jedi was supposed to be - compassionate, humble, wise, open minded, patient, dedicated and hard working. Still holding out hope that we'll see a Kenobi and Sidious interaction one day it doesn't even have to be a duel. They should have done it in the Kenobi show but i guess if they make season 2 there's still a chance. Watching Palpatine mock Obi-Wan about all his manipulation leading to the fall of the Jedi, the Republic and Anakin while Kenobi remains stoic in the face of the man who literally took everything from him would be among the greatest scenes in the entire franchise. Obviously this would end in another Kenobi and Vader duel probably their last before ANH.

What I don't get is the fact that obi wan had very very little time with Luke. From saving him on Tatooine to the ride aboard the falcon, Obi Wan just did not have enough time to train or teach Luke much of anything, yet everyone is giving obi wan the credit for Luke's training. That is simply not the case

He's great because he's not great. On paper compared to Anakin, Mace, Yoda, Dooku, etc. he has no talent. No one wanted him when it came time for Master's to choose a padawan. Qui Gon chose him because he is more in tune with the force and could sense the greatness in Obi Wan. He was so strong not because of talent but because he was smart and trained hard. He trained out all of his weakness, which is why he beat Anakin, the strongest force user of their time. Anakin had raw talent to compensate for his weaknesses, but Obi Wan couldn't rely on that. I've always like his style and how he was a master of the defensive lightsaber style. No talent, and a user of the weakest offensive lightsaber form, and look at what he was able to do. Man is a legend.

Obi Wan trolled Palpatine so bad 😂 He saw him lost against Dooku and wasnt the first time. Yet he took down Maul , Grevious and Vader , and ultimately Palpatine by training and projecting Luke , and was taken down with the doings of Luke and Anakin

I can't help but think if Obi-wan and Palpatine faced off, Palpatine could be surprised by Obi-wan's resolve and get more irritated by how well he is handling himself. Probably the only way Obi-wan could win, however, is if Palpatine was weakened somehow.

Obi Wan was the true underdog story as a Jedi who many underestimated and ultimately pay dearly for it. I actually believe Obi Wan & Sidious were relative in lightsaber combat by Revenge of the Sith & might even favor Obi Wan if he couldnt get the killing blow early due to Obi Wan s Form 3 mastery & Palpatine's advanced age hurting his stamina over time. Palpatine was vastly superior using his force abilities especially great weapons like force choke & force lightning giving him a huge advantage over Kenobi. Would have loved to see a Lightsaber duel between them around the time right after Kenobi from Disney + where Obi Wan showed force feats in his battle w Vader we had never seen b4 tho. Love your content. 🎉

Never underestimate the hardworking devoted but seemingly unextraordinary and constantly passed over for promotion middle management guy, theyre the ones while unnoticed and unappreciated are actually keeping the company running behind the scenes, and they are the ones who can bring the whole system down and drive business to a crashing halt if messed with the wrong way, obi wan embodies that competent and unassuming miiddle manager type to his core. Greatest Jedi: Kenobi, Quinlan Vos, Bultar Swan, Yoda, and Windu. Vos because he survived the Purge and Order 66. Swan: She is the only jedi outside of Kenobi post Order 66. But was murdered by a fellow jedi when her back was turned and could have a great warrior alongside of Kenobi and may have changed the entire saga if she wasnt killed by a Rogue Jedi. She who just defeated Vader and had him on his knees to surrender.Yet, whose only mistake was to not kill Anakin and ahered to the Jedi code when she had the chance to stop the Purge at that point in time.

Though there was some logic in Palpatine’s think when comes to Obi-wan he largely wrong about him, he was serious threat to him. He killed Maul, he was training the chosen one, could have been the key to Dooku redeemption, then Luke train long term finally becoming a Force Ghost these are clear signs of true.

Obi Wan defeated Maul as a Padawan, rivaled Dooku but couldn't beat him, killed Grievous, almost killed Anakin, and might had learned much from Yoda while they were in hiding. He disappeared and pretty much stopped interfering at some point. It's not fear, it's fear if what he could become if meddled with.

Palpatine saw power through the use of the Force, so he only valued or respected others who had strong power over the force. Yet, even when the force warned him, he ignored it, because he viewed it as beneath him. Obi-wan constantly surprised him, and defeated his apprentices, and yet he thought it was his apprentice's failure, because Obi-wan was nothing special in the use of the force. Had he really taken heed of the danger Obi-Wan posed, he would have disposed of him, but then that would admit someone weak in the force to be a legitimate threat. The Emperor was doomed from the start... but still had a good 20ish years as Emperor of the Galaxy.

From the first Jedi to defeat a Sith in 1000 years…as a Padawan, to training Anakin to one of the greatest generals in the Clone Wars to defeating Darth Vader twice in Canon to training Luke to ultimately the combination of his 2 students defeating the Emperor and annihilating the Empire. Anakin and potentially Luke may have been the chosen ones, but ultimately it was Obi-wan’s guidance both directly and indirectly that led them to balancing the force

I am having a hard time swallowing that explanation. Sheev did not go after Obi-Wan because he needed to use him as a touchstone with keeping Anakin under his thrall. As long as Obi Wan lived, then Sheev can stoke Anakins hatred that blinded him. The man who was presumably the cause of Padme's death and disfigurement. The man that held him back from being granted full rank as a master (Anakin stated this in Episode 2). It was sheer luck that Obi Wan was nearly captured aboard the Death Star because this was not a part of the plan. It was Tarkin's decision to blow up Alderaan to punish Princess Leia that caused that showdown to happen. Kenobi was simply delivering the droids to her stepfather then returning to Tatooine. The planet was blown to smithereens and then Kenobi and Luke were caught in the tractor beam. The rest is history. I feel the moment Vader slayed Kenobi's human form, that Sheev started losing control. Learning his son was alive hastened Anakin's betrayal. The only reason Anakin did not strike the Emperor down was because Sheev still controlled his life support system. When Sheev tried to kill Luke, Anakin at that point had enough and sacrificed himself to save Luke. So in the grand scheme of things I believe killing Obi Wan was never Sheev Palpentine's plan. He had all the pieces where he needed them. As far as Yoda goes, I believe you are correct on Sheev's feelings about Yoda being impotent at this point and Sheev wanted to gloat over his win.

Obi Wan kept his feelings under control. He taught Luke and Anakin the same. Anakin thought that brute strength was undefeatedable, as did Sidious. Luke, through both Obi-Wans and Yoda's training learnt to hide his feelings and thoughts E g. He almost hid the fact from Sidious that Yoda had trained him. Darth Sidious He couldn't sense either Obi-Wan or Yoda. Sidious was focused on taunting, humiliating and hopefully torturing Yoda to death. Kenobi Sidious up until Anakin's failure on Mustafar thought of Kenobi as a bumbling clown who fluked, killing Darth.Maul. However. . .. Obi-Wan slicing and dicing Sidious's protege and leaving him maimed on the lava banks😊 both impressed and scared the living daylights out of him. Sidious was NOT all knowing and seeing. His favourite saying: Everything is as I have foreseen it was BS. A lucky fall saw him just escape Yoda's ability to deflect his Force Lightning. Kenobi destroyed the most powerful ever Force user 20 hours after turning to the Dark Side !? Sidious knew that blind luck saw him barely hang onto power. Again . . . After 20 short years ( the Jedi Council ruled for thousands of years) Sidious rule was at an end. Obi-Wan a 'simple Jedi' and Yoda had defeated the most powerful ever Sith. Obi-Wan was a simple Jedi who utilised the Force as it should be. A lesson for us all.

after Obi Wan beat Darth Maul, Palpatine is not gonna take that risk before he mastered the techniques to physical immortality. There's an undefinable quality about Obi Wan, whether with mental chess or with his unmatched saber skills. Later went on to lead the completion of the Rogue One mission, sent Luke on the path to take out the Death Star and ultimately overthrow the Emperor. He wouldn't even have advised to go about how Luke did but somehow Obi Wan always knew Luke was the key. For decades he just felt it! When in tune with the Force, you know *without* knowing. A great leader and master puts students in a position to succeed and eventually surpass them. Did that with both Anakin and Luke. And ultimately, those are the two who did defeat the Emperor. Obi Wan's life and beyond life work!

Sidious never intended to confront Yoda - he was always comfortable leaving the eradication of Jedi to the Order 66 programming in the clones & only sent Vader to make kills that support his voyage to the Darkside; killing children, killing the allies of his new master. Killing his old master was never on the agenda, just kill the kids & kill the people that “helped” Sidious' play. Kenobi was just another General that would be killed by his clones tropes & if surviving that would be hunted by Inquisitors provided that having Inquisitors was always part of the plan instead of just an adaptation from Order 66 not delivering the effectiveness rate that Palpatine had planned on.
