But some people are very nervous about their own success. It doesn’t surprise me he became as ordinary and mundane as he is seen today. Let’s face it, you don’t always want paparazzi tailing after you and people going berserk over you whenever they see you. Sometimes it is better to walk away and leave the fame and riches in the hands of another. Your band doesn’t rule your life you know.

Each person struggles with their own demons. No shame as someone said. The first albums are great and a milestone in metal history. Love Bruce, though. Incredible frontman. Sometimes we look back in life and think we could have done things differently. But we couldn't. It was just who we were at the time. Love to all the Maiden fans out there.

Yeah I always interpreted it as a mutual agreement to part ways: Paul wasn't happy & wanted out, the band were getting tired of his antics because he was becoming a liability. Shame because he was a great singer & showman in his prime & his style lent itself well to the rawer, more punk influenced sound they had for those first coupla albums. Bruce is my #2 singer, behind Dio but I prefer Paul's versions of the early stuff

What a great vocalist who had much more potential but lifestyle choices and what we think about can either Lift us up or destroy us. He started destroying his voice and there's no wonder why he was sent packing. A very sad story as that man could really sing. True, but that’s not bad. If you’re into partying hard and just the love of arts, then you’re not made for big things. You’ll be playing clubs here and there, every now and then. But if you want to live off your music you have to take it seriously and turn it into a business. You have to be willing to work hard, touring all year round and make sacrifices. That’s the difference between amateurs and legendary bands.

Paul had a world class voice with awesome pitch but the band were all running to the tune of Steve Harris and he became marginalised to the extent that his self destruction was all he really had left. Perhaps given time and patience he would have stiiled his inner anxiety and become a legend. Time will tell but in a different way these first 2 albums rank up there with anything that came after.
