This exposition of a very well-chosen concept which contributes to nearly everything you are trying to accomplish as a singer is absolutely brilliant. Ivan is not here to show off and so is not letting any other particular technique get in the way of illustrating what is being demonstrated. A generous teacher with humility is a superior teacher!

Great video specially the fact u pointed out pharyngeal resonance is not nasality. I would add that twang is key to achieve pharyngeal resonance

Great intro video to this concept! It’s the exact same way I teach my student classical to contemporary. Thanks for spreading the good news of singing!! 👏🏽👏🏽

i understand this but how do u manage going from just chest voice to this pharyngeal resonance mixed because i can do it but there's kind of break between but not range break just a hard switch
@SingingSimply
@SingingSimply 8 ай бұрын
A hard switch just means your cords are disconnecting. Part of being up to move up and down your range is maintains the same amount of closure in cords

@SingingSimply keep your larynx down, and try to use the space between your throat to your nose to control your sound. Google an image of where your larynx and pharengeal (throat) spaces are so you can have a visual of how you may need to control those spaces. Be sure your throat is open, so you can feel the air as it pushes past the walls of your open throat and figure out the path of least resistance.

Good comments here. It’s a kind of balance, but letting your low notes be lighter and more “edgy” can help. It’s a kind of balance that at first might seem like a thin line but later starts to widen out into the stylistic freedom you hear in great singers. Sometimes placement will seem back but once you trust it you can roll quite far forward and out into the mask.

His voice is just shaky because hasn’t achieved full cord closure, which placing the voice there will eventually help achieve efficiently.
@srfrover
@srfrover 8 ай бұрын
@@jonathanlacayo3395 I think the reason why the problem seems to be on the fold closure is that he pushes too much chest for his voice, so the larynx goes up and he tends to go to falsetto. He has to lower the volume, let go the voice freely and relax in general in my opinion

@@srfroverFirstly, it's overall a good video to demonstrate the concept. I do agree that it can sound better. He did also mention that tone wise he wouldn't sing that way in a song. I do think his larynx is going high. I also think his air placement is a little off and that he's still a bit not use to it, and so very tense.

to this and the first three replies to this: this exposition of a very well-chosen concept which contributes to nearly everything you are trying to accomplish as a singer is absolutely brilliant. he is not letting any other particular technique get in the way of illustrating what is being demonstrated. the focus being described can be used with larynx high or low. i haven't seen anything in the comments here that reveals as deep a grasp of the subject matter accompanied by the ability to verbalize a useful visualization with exceptional clarity. also, for a "tense" voice, he managed to move through that bit of his range successfully pretty openly and furthermore he was not going to falsetto!
