My teacher has me doing vocal nasal resonance right now and wants me to sound like SpongeBob or Janice from Friends (oh. My. Gawd!). I feel and look absolutely ridiculous when doing it but then listening to a recording, it sounds way better than in my head. It’s just hard to do consistently. she says it’s because I’m a bass and this will help heighten my range and it’s completely foreign to me but actually sounds good to others. Thank you for this video. I believe it is helping.

Very useful. In the past I've forced a placement more towards the front of my mouth for high notes and belting, which ends up feeling very tense with no control. I feel like if I work on this I can get consistent higher notes. Usually when doing singing excercises I can only go up to about E4/F4. but with this I was able to stretch that almost all the way to the top. I found that I was also more on pitch with this bright sound.

It helped me to realize how to get a brighter,more nice sounding tone for sure, thanks. Usually i hate to hear myself when i played back, and i found that this might be the issue. I've done at least this "Hey Jude" and it sounded way better. Before knowing this i would be the one doing the incorrect Hey Jude...small progress, but i guess that's something hahaha By the way you have a great voice Doug. Even that High school clip, sure you knew waaay less technique than now but it still sounded like a good voice. But hearing you sing Stay now fucking blew my mind away. Well, big hugs from Brazil bro, great video.

Same. It’s weird how horrible it sounds in your head but if you do it right and listen to it later it actually sounds pretty good.

Hey Zed, great video! Additionally, you add that bright, piercing sound to the deep, chest voice of yours in order to give a nice, clear tone that still has a great balance of robustness in it. Ultimately, the piercing sound is a great tool to avoid a dull, extremely dark tone and allow us to project clearly, but it is not the finished sound - the darker chest resonance needs to be added later on in order to balance it out.

Lack of clarity is often related to our personality. If you are shy and don't like to be noticed in public, you'll tend to swallow your words, speak in low volume, etc. Even the tongue will be more to the back than it should be if you wanted a clear tone. Free your voice! To do this, go in park when there is nobody at night and sing your head off. Or rent a studio or local where you can sing when you want and as loud as you want. I did both, and it has helped me a lot.

Hi thanks for sharing, and congrats on your improvement. I’m a bit confused though- your voice sounded good but the larynx move up and down still. Now should we bother about that larynx (adam’s apple) moving or as long as you sound good, then it’s ok? What confused me is other popular tutorials really pushes that idea of keeping larynx neutral. But If you want to project the voice more forward- the larynx also tends to move a little bit /slightly high in the process (in my experience). I mean it is not completely stationary.

Thanks for watching :) Which video did I say that in? Let me know as some of my videos are really old and probably need to be unlisted now that I know more about the voice. Singing definitely requires pressure. 100%. Try to keep that pressure in the stomach//belly//pelvic floor support rather than on the throat. Try to balance out any throat tension by applying pressure into the stomach area. Thanks!

so why would we aim the sound at the back of the neck if your trying to achieve forward placement??
@Dougzed
@Dougzed 4 жыл бұрын
I don't personally focus on placing the sound forward because it tends to get stuck in the nose more often. I find sending it to the soft palate makes it bright enough already. You just have to experiment with it and see for you self. Goodluck!
