The day I arrived at Universal Orlando on my very first visit there, was the same day Universal announced Poseidons Fury would be permanently closing. I knew close to nothing about this attraction before seeing it myself, but I still wanted to make sure I experienced at least once during my stay. Unexpectedly, I ended up doing it FIVE times because I ended up loving it so much. I had no idea what the facade looked like before I saw it in person. I had no idea it was a walkthrough attraction. Or even that there was water effects and fire. I’m so happy I was able to have such a fresh first experience. As I was walking out the exit, I knew right away I was going to experience it more than once. Each time I went on it after that, it somehow was getting better. I would find things I didn’t see or hear before. I would pick a different spot to stand while I watch. And best of all, during my final two viewings, I decided to listen more to the other guests around me. Hearing their reactions during the finale scene was one of my favorite things about it. I heard even adult guests say “Oh wow!” Or “How’d they do that??” Also, I feel like the team members that play Taylor are incredibly lucky. I’m not into performing arts myself, but their role looks like so much fun. Something about them going through the story, with the incredible music and lighting, and on-screen characters interacting with them just felt so magical. I honestly felt like I was in a movie for the entire experience. I was not expecting to fall in love with this attraction so deeply in such a short amount of time. It quickly reminded of everything a theme part attraction is supposed to do right. But I was also saddened because I realized that these hybrid walkthrough/live show attractions are so incredibly rare, and we’re just about to loose this one. I would never be able to experience it again after this incredible trip. Today, I try not to look back too much at videos of this attraction, as I want to do my best to remember it through being there and seeing it with my own eyes. Sure, videos and pictures can give a general idea of what happens, but it’s not the true, in person experience. While I intent to forever stand by that, I made an exception with this video. You make it so clear that the positives outweigh any negatives about Poseidons Fury, and any cheesiness about the on screen characters is very easily forgivable because the production value and team member interaction is so outstanding. Thank you, and well done. I was right to subscribe 👍 Also, I really REALLY hope the soundtrack to Poseidons Fury gets released in some form. It was honestly one of my favorite parts of the show and I’d love to eventually have the music to listen to since I won’t be able to hear it at the park anymore.

I love that story! I’m really glad you got to do it and appreciated it so much. It’s amazing how detailed every corner of that building is. That’s awesome it hooked you so easily! People say it’s dated, and sure, some parts are, but it felt timeless in the best ways. It definitely impressed! I’ll miss it. Thanks for dropping in and sharing your experience. :)

Wonderful little video this is. I have so many awesome memories of this attraction. I remember as a boy suggesting to one of the Taylor's to match the trident up with its symbol to see if anything happens, and all the way to today as I'm sure it's been the main suggestion over time, the Taylor's kept attempting to hold the trident up themselves with jokes of "I've seen Indiana jones" or "I played a LOT of uncharted". I remember this in its original form with the keeper as your guide and the incomparable Jeremy Irons voicing poseidon. The lost continent is/was something truly special in themed entertainment, I'm so glad a few weeks ago I got to see one last show with a VERY good taylor, amazing audience interaction, the person I love with me, and a choked up little wave goodbye to old Sei as he granted us safe passage back to our world. Man, i loved this thing and I'll never ever forget it

I wholeheartedly agree with your words thanking the team members; the human element cannot be replaced with screens and animatronics. I know this first-hand; I used to work as a Gatherer at Savi's Workshop at Disneyland California's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. It was such an honor getting to assist guests in building their own lightsaber, and their reaction when the lightsabers first lit up was unforgettable. Most importantly, however, it was important to have humans leading the experience because the technology often broke down. Sometimes I had to continue the show without music or lighting. Other times, I had to deal with an unruly or belligerant guest while simultaneously staying on track. Only humans can truly "go with the flow" (to borrow a colloquialism that matches this video's theme). 😊

Your video inspired me to animate the entire ride, it's almost done. I loved this show 101%, when I first saw it we went to the Margarittaville in Citywalk, and with about 100 of their little wax things they give kids I made a wax trident! Next I animated the temple for a DND campaign, a very low quality version of it albeit. Now as a tribute Ive freehand sculpted and made the entire temple on Blender, 100% accurate. Ive already made the first and second rooms as well and 3D modeled an entire fully animatable Taylor model! You can see the video tour of the entire temple on my channel, thanks for the video. It helped me realize again just how much I loved the show really!

this video was great!! i loved poseidons fury tbh. sure the finale was a bit cheesy, but the the queue and the first parts of the show were awesome. it really felt like i was visiting an archaeological site. the first time i saw poseidons fury i was like 13 and i had no idea what the attraction even was, but i ended up getting really invested in it and it was so cool. it opened me up to the potential for themed entertainment outside of just rides. i think it might have even subconsciously influenced my decision to change my college major to entertainment design and pursue a career in the industry. i hope i can be a part of creating new experiences that are just as immersive and memorable. there really aren’t any other elaborate walkthrough attractions like it, hopefully whatever replaces the lost continent is just as interesting and unique.

It is somewhat ironic that Disney gets chastised for bringing in too many IPs into its parks, yet Universal - which is literally built on IPs - is about to lose one of the few 'original' concepts its ever had. Still, a great tribute.

I never failed to visit PF on any IoA trip, starting with when it opened. (My dad and I had Universal passes for years due to a weird little promo the FL Lottery did with UO that opening year - I think he was able to get us four years of annual passes with it somehow?) Anyway, what a special little attraction, in all its forms, since I've seen 'em all. I really hate that this style of experience is going out of fashion since most parks don't seem to want to pay as many performers. I hope they see a renaissance.
@StorybookAmusement

From what I've heard from my friend 'on the inside', one of the reasons it closed was due to its age, and the increasing difficulty of maintaining the complex effects. Given that it has both powerful water fx and pyro going off basically on top of one another, I can easily believe that they were concerned it was going to suffer a catastrophic failure due to age and wear. There also may be issues they don't want to mention like black mold in the infrastructure (it's so damp in there I can't hardly believe there isn't) or damage to the structure of the building. That said it would be a shame to lose that last non-IP bastion of Lost Continent entirely. What I'm hoping is that while they may be gutting the attraction as it stands, that they'll keep the facade intact and build a new, 21st century attraction along the same lines.

It wasn't under appreciated, it was technically far below the tech of all their other attractions. It was camp, cute and all.. but still underwhelming. The coolest part was the structures facade itself. They need Zelda land.. which will further crush Disney. 👍 PS. The terrible acting here shouldn't be twisted into a compliment here. Maybe from a free movie rental or streaming show it's amusing but not paying this much to go to a theme park like this.. it's a cop out.. whatever replaces it will be far superior. 🤪✌️
