When I teach process design and modelling, some may get the impression that process modelling is only about placing blocks on the flow diagram.
But this is far from the truth!
Understanding the first principles behind the unit operations is crucial to set up the simulation and generate accurate results properly.
I observed that most challenges and issues with modelling occur just from the lack of understanding of basic thermodynamics.
This can be easily solved! If you want to improve your understanding of unit operations, try using equation-based tools!
I've learnt a lot by using Matlab, EES and even MS Excel & VBA to build my own models.
