Yeah I'm not sure how they think "the gap is coming down". Maybe they are referring to the gap in pace between Red Bull (Max really) and McLaren?

Checo had a great race in Hungary last year. But. The RB was 33s faster than the field last year. It’s tough to imagine Checo scoring points this year. Sadly I think he’s done.

He just can't get over that 0.4+ gap to Verstappen in Quali. It was fine last year. Would mean the difference between P1 & P4. But now it's between P1 & P8.

Checo dose not have the same car , at all! RedBull has sabotaged themselves for the constructors Championship. In order to please Max. Plain and simple. It's not Checo it's his car and engineers

All this talk about cars being set up for a particular driving style and “undrivable” for drivers with a different style. The really great drivers throughout history could drive anything…. F1, GT, Indy, Rally, Paris/Dakar….. anything.

Daniel was quick in the RB19 though. Seems like the red Bull suits his driving style pretty well. That also explains how he has been the only teammate to Max who hasn't been absolutely destroyed by him. Yes I agree Max was very young back then, and he would beat Daniel convincingly now, the fact remains that they seem to prefer cars with the same/similar nature. red Bull should either promote Daniel or Yuki. Promoting Liam directly to Red Bull would be a recipe for disaster.

@@arjunnair8037 Seb had handling issues in 2014 with the car, and was never at the level of the best in any case. Look at Ricciardo with handling issues at McLaren.

@@ciaronsmith4995 oh lmao so the handling issues apply to Daniel but not to Seb? I'm a bit of a Seb fan myself but that's just plain evident hypocrisy coming from you lol. Yes some drivers are just not that adaptive. Daniel was quick in the RB19 in the Silverstone tyre test last year because he was comfortable with the car and it suited his driving style. The RB car doesn't. It's just that simple. They're different cars and will obviously have different characteristics. Also, Daniel has improved ever since his chassis was changed and has also been beating Yuki in quite a few races since then. Lawson is still inexperienced, Red Bull are not gonna keep Yuki after 2025, so Daniel stands as the obvious option for them. Unless they pull off an unpredictable move and promote Yuki next year, which would also make sense given his improvement in both his performance and maturity.

This is my issue with the Red Bull seat. You give Daniel a test in the RB19 and he did VERY WELL. So you give him a seat in the Visa car, which IS NOT THE SAME car and Daniel isn't doing well probably becasue the two cars are DIFFERENT. So we give Liam a chance in the RB20 and he sizzled. BUT, we have been here before with Daniel. So what is RBR really trying to do with these tests...??? Perez is woeful in the other car....why he is still there is just comedic. The only person who hasn't tested a proper RB is Tsunoda. So in the end I don't understand what Horner is actually doing. Just my two cents.

Daniel did a pirelli tyre test not a filming day like Liam and rumoured 0.2 off the Max Benchmark doesn't say a lot due to those academy tyres and other restrictions . But the next test for Liam in the 2 year old alpha tauri is a tyre test and and more representative. It was interesting that there was no Red Bull Official test times and Lawson whilst at Goodwood wasn't allowed to do any media. I think because they are putting Daniel in after the summer break and Liam in to Vcarb. Depending on form and results they will decide who gets the seat.

This season is gonna be quite interesting. Think RB is starting to feel the pressure without Neway. Lando would have won the last race at Silverstone if it wasn't for his decision to go for the soft compounds at the last stint. But the McLarens are quick around a track. Its only a matter of time before they start tidying up their strategy calls, and start winning races again.

Red Bull there are many what if's and a couple of people that need things to go their way. Perez needs to finish the next couple of races what say top four, Liam needs have impressed everyone at the film day? Daniel will need to show something special in the next couple of races (Hulkish) to be considered for the main team seat. .All that aside, If Checko fails red Bull loose nothing putting Danny Ric in next to Max, he wont do worse and they can find out 100 percent if he has a future within Red Bull. Liam gets the second RB seat to show a full half season to access him properly.

People really sleeping on Ricciardo forgetting that he is the only other driver on the grid with proven experience in the second half of a season with a pointy nose car. Send Lawson to VCARB to get used to an F1 car and give Max someone that can actually be useful in the second part of the year each year. Ricciardo in a Vcarb is a poor comparison when he nearly matched Max in testing times in a Red Bull (where noteably Lawson has fallen short recently), as the Vcarb is a totally different car, setup and driving style required compared to an RB. And Mclaren take it to Red Bull? I think he's talking about Checo, not Max 🤣

Disagree with McClaren's decision making being marginal and down to randomness. Why then, do Max/RB seemingly always get it spot on? For instance, not double stacking Piastri in Silverstone - taking the 5s hit.. when sector times showed the intermediates were 5-6 seconds faster than slicks per SECTOR... i don't buy into the gamble that it could dry up.. a track on a knife-edge can ONLY get wetter within a lap, never in the opposite direction. It was a No-brainer to double stack.

Okay, so hear me out : Yuki a shot in the RBR. For the 2nd half of the season, just let him have it. You get to see Yuki at the top and how he handles it, and you get to see Riccardo v Perez. There's a *lot* of information to be gained there, and a lot of very happy fans.

I think Yuki poses more problems. I don't think Redbull likes his attitude and feel he won't fall in line when the big team orders are envoked. I think they'll go for Lawson in hopes that his greenness will give the performance delta to create no issue with a Verstappen championship run for 2025 since Redbull likely won't get constructors in 25.

Newey leaves, Red Bull no longer easily the best car, suddenly Max winning far fewer races and crashing due to pressure and needing to actually race (I.e. with Lando) But sure this can be true in your dream world

I think if I were Red Bull, I'd give Daniel a go and put Liam in the VCARB. Assuming Daniel doesn't set the world on fire at RB but does help with points. Assuming too, Liam smashes Yuki then swap back at end of year for 25. I know Daniel probably hasn't done enough to outright deserve the RB drive, but he's shown glimpses (Canada particularly) that the old Daniel is a level above Yuki. On the McLaren side, I don't believe it was the strategic snafu that some believe. On the basis they thought they would come out of the pits ahead of Lewis, Lando would have been fast enough to win without suffering the tyre deg of being behind Lewis. Of course, if he hadn't gone past his marks in the pitstop or indeed not decided to stay out, he would have ended up in front of Lewis....and likely.....job done.

In Hungary, we believe that the RB team will unleash the full potential of the amazing RB 20 where Max will easily win and Checo will regain the form he had during the first 5 races, this season. As Max unbleached the RB car's true performance, during the last 14 laps of the Silverstone race, we know that RB has the fastest car 'on track'. As Marco saying that the RB teams Hungary updates will resolve the track curb riding stability problems, we believe that Checo benafit most and will regain P2

The problem is not that Perez has suddenly started to drive badly, the fault lies with Red Bull who developed and is still developing the car around Max who has a different driving style than other drivers, quite honestly I don't think other drivers on the grid could have done a better job than Perez . Red Bull need to wake up and realize that the team is not all about one driver and need to start focusing on the other car and allow Perez to maintain his driving style.

The problem is that the gap between Perez and Verstappen happened overnight without new upgrades. Remember 2023 Miami? Before Miami, Perez beat Verstappen and had very competitive pace. Miami hits, no new upgrades, Verstappen demolishes Perez. If that's because the car was built around Verstappen, then why did this change happen without any new upgrades? Remember, Perez was still driving well and competitive here. Then he became shit and started missing multiple Q3s in a row. How could that be the car? There weren't any massive drastic changes to it in the period between Perez winning and Perez missing god knows how many Q3s.

RB have always cared little about the constructor’s title. They are a marketing company. And the best advertising is the World Championship Driver. For Mercedes, Ferrari, Aston and McLaren, the Constructor’s is as important because they sell cars. Horses for courses.
