Yeah! i agree, maybe not so much nowadays but back in the day with Ferrari and Mclaren I guess they did the best job possible for a fast car and then took some ideas that could translate to the consumer cars. But now i think there is a R&D section whose only purpouse is to make advances with the cars that are directed to the "general population" if you could say because they are still in a category for Luxury (speaking of Ferrari and Mclaren of course)

I've been an F1 fan since the early 90s and seen the sport transform under Liberty Media's ownership. Just a few years ago, if I mentioned F1, most everyone here in America had no clue about it and couldn't name 1 driver. Now, we have 3 races here and an explosion of new fans! Credit Netflix Drive to Survive for 90% of creating the popularity. Its nuts! I like that the sport has grown but also not because the cost of admission has skyrocketed.

Dorliton bought Williams Racing for $175 million just 2.5 years ago in August 2020 and Force India sold for just $117 million 2 years before that and changed to Racing Point and then Aston Martin. Both were bought by Hedge Funds. Not to mention Liberty Media another Hedge Fund as well (that became a private equity firm and is now a multi-media company) including F1 itself for $4.4 Billion. Aston Martin just sold a stake for $100 million to Arcos Capital Investment which owns stake in 20 pro sports teams. They own Seat Geek and huge teams like the Red Sox , Cubs, Dodgers, Padres, Astros and Giants in MLB. Inter Miami, Austin, Charlotte, DC United, Houston, Nashville, New England, NYCFC, Philadelphia, Portland, Real Salt Lake, San Jose, Sporting KC, and Toronto in MLS, not going to list all the teams already listed too many but over 15 teams in the NBA!

I think the 10 team get about 2 billion dollar from F1 owner Liberty media with Ferrari leading the money at over 300 million possibly 400 million. The engine manufacturers likely earn about 15 million per client team (but they get extra uncapped cost as an engine manufacterer not listed) I guess that sponsoring will bring about 30-120 million in income for teams. And commercial activities might bring them 10-50 million as well. The teams cost about 240-400 million to run each year. Capped 150 million for the race team, cars and engines 50-120 million for the uncapped costs 25-120 million for the drivers plus 2 or 3 big earners in the team that are exempt

Seeing how much money a team generates the car don't seem so expensive anyway. I find profitability interesting because I have read the teams only aim to break even like that is the only goal not to really make a profit. But that might have been how the teams were run in the past now it might be different and they want to be profitable, idk,.

Very valid point. But I disagree... The sport has blown up in the States because of the show. 💯. And I've seen a couple people kinda drift away. But, I think the residual fans are here to stay (I'm American, watching for 23 years)... I actually got annoyed when Liberty took over.. I thought they were going to americanize the sport (which they did in excellent fashion, by giving more access to drivers and not restricting social media posts, insights etc) they've made blunders tho, that Miami gp intro with all of the embarrassing attachments made me roll my eyes....the sports gonna continue to grow. I'm so excited, and I'm glad I finally have fellow employees and friends here in the States that I can talk to about a race instead of nba, NFL, and all of the other sports here... Hell, I had three people the other night at watching for the first time.. I loved answering questions for them. ☺

You talk with such arrogance in characterizing every person that became a fan after DTS. So you know the millions of new fans? What data and facts do you have other than your own feelings? Go cry some more because a lot of these new fans are here to stay.

@@jordan_m_wong don't get offended by these comments.. Been seeing them for years. It's kinda like... Those old metal fans. Or hip hop fans.. Or any kind of fan of that tries to gatekeep "their" sport... I've always welcomed newbies in all Of the things I love... We were once there too. Why would you try to deny new fans? It just doesn't make sense.. Yes, the Netflix series was over the top, but that's just editing and business.. I rolled my eyes at many points, thinking, yeah, that inchident wasn't that serious, ☺.. But they play it up for ratings.... If even 5 percent of the new people stays and becomes lifelong fans, it's honestly just a plus. ✌️

I've always been curious about how the Formula 1 business works. Very well done documentary.! Liberty Media Corporation is an American mass media company founded by John C. Malone in 1991. Formula 1 generates revenue from race promotion fees, media rights, sponsorship fees and ancillary sources, such as Paddock Club ticket sales and shipping cars and equipment outside of Europe. The business model of Formula One is based on the organization and promotion of motor racing events. F1 is a global sport, and its races are held in various locations around the world. Teams get most of their earnings from sponsorships. Each team has several sponsors that contribute millions of dollars. 🤝
