For people think it's just nostalgia or whatnot. Let me say im 21 and this year i got into fighting games because of third strike. This game is where i learned how to do quarter circles and i bought a fight stick because of it

@midknightthunderboy its a parry of a second (or any after first hit) hit when the first or previous hits are blocked originally. So an easy example would be ryu's light tatsu, you'd block the first hit and then parry the second hit giving you frame advantage to punish the opponents otherwise safe move

@THENAMEISQUICKMAN for example, a super art. trying to parry it from the very first hit can prove to be very difficult even if u know that your opponent will do it. the best thing to do in this scenario would be to block the first hit then parry the rest (which is a much, much safer option) since if u guess wrong then u will be eating a full super art

@ClaTheNinja Still the same game. Honestly, you'll run into more Ken's than Yun's. It's pretty rare to run into a Yun that's actually scary anyway.

@THENAMEISQUICKMAN a parry completely negates your opponents attack. for example, if u block u will be pushed back due to hit/block stun whereas if u parry u will negate the attack and not be pushed back. this is useful for punishing moves that would be safe on block

@781RELLIK Actually, to be more specific, while blocking a string combo or a multi hit attack, after you blocked the first, 2nd ETC move, after the 1st or 2nd frame of that block animation, you let go of the stick (back to neutral,) then tap forward. You can't hold back then press forward, that would just make you unblock. When you let go of the stick (let go of back on the D pad) you are basically getting out of the block animation, since you have to hold back to keep blocking.

@781RELLIK Press toward your opponent while blocking a combo. It is a much stricter window than a normal parry.

@Denue its a few frames depending on what it is you are trying to red parry but a lot of things the timing is static so even a 2-3f window isnt that bad since its always the same.. Things to learn to red parry first = Certain hits of supers(Dudley corkscrew blow, ryu/akuma super fireball), then you can try to learn more difficult supers like kens, Q, chun, etc. After that you could learn to red parry target combos and such

really good tutorial dude, should help clear it up for people. also, regular parries have something like what, 10 frames to be inputted, whereas red parries have to be within 2 frames or something. so you really gotta know the rhythm...that sound accurate?

I know this isn't a full blown tutorial in your vid, but I think you should explain in the replies that red parry also varies on the character's individual block animation. Something what's easy for one character to red parry may not have the same window as another.

timing is tight and not necessarily worth the risk. Q could have punished after blocking with slaps. I will just let super go when players red parry an ex machine go blow. They almost always red parry once and try to punish.

Anthony Garza Not necessarily the "last hit" of a move. It's any time you parry while still in blockstun from something else, either another hit from the same move or another move entirely. Renic talks about red-parrying the last hit of moves because *if* you want to red parry at all, you usually *want* to do it on the last hit of your opponent's move. Then you only have to parry one hit, and it's easier than trying to red-parry earlier in the move and then having to subsequently blue-parry multiple hits. Also worth noting, red parries have a stricter timing requirement than normal blue parries.

shit .. thats why i dont start with 3rd strike that game is too sick xD honestly i tried the demo version and ... damn it ! its rly hard to play i mean combos etc even a normal hadoken can be sometimes rough ! why that ? i dont get the system .. i know ssf4ae is much easier.
