Regarding the Wii image quality comparison. While it's true the game zooms in on a 4:3 image I actually just learned the Wii forces a deflicker filter on games. This results in Wii games having a blurrier looking image. By doing some slight modding on the Wii you can turn this filter off! For future Wii games I'll have the filter disabled for better image quality.

This was the version I played first and the most. Playing it with motion controls is the only way to play for me. Those who haven't tried it are really missing out. It's one of the few games that had gameplay elevated by motion controls. Nice video!

I'm color blind, and when trying the Gamecube version in 2005 I unfortunately couldn't see where I was aiming. The motion controls in the Wii version had the added benefit of a crosshair, and I could finally play and enjoy the game..!

I pretty much bought my wii for this game after playing it at a friends house. The motion controls are great, and due to Leon’s nervousness the wii version is the only version ive ever completed the shooting range successfully

The gameplay is perfect on the Wii, also was my first time with the game, I finished 5 times on Wii, and still have my copy Is a shame they didn't implemented motion controls on the Switch version, because they implemented on Resident Evil 5 and is pretty damn good

I happen to own a Wii U with RE4, and only decided to buy it because I grew up with it during my childhood, its amazing and aged well, especially on Wii U I have played through the remake and honestly, I love both, the ease of usage on the Wii/U version makes it somewhat easy for people who want to play for the story, the remake of the game is better as it has tons of QoL changes, but there's no gyro aiming and you must rely on your own ability to aim and reflexes. The story is generally the same, so I love how the remake keeps the story relatively intact.

wait till people figure out the Wii Edition is the most broken version. you can get the aim to the middle of the screen(by turning off sensor when you get it set right) and easily get 100% accuracy throughout the game. found this out because my sensor broke and realized you can get somewhat of a sensor from sunlight on a window

When I first got it, I played it with the wii controls, but for later playthroughs switched to using a gamecube controller. I actually ended up preferring using analog controls due to the increased challenge! It almost felt like cheating using the wii pointer, and it felt sooo good mastering the aiming all over again. I'd also argue that the aesthetic of the gaudy reticle for motion controls kind of impinges upon the game's presentation.

I got Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition off of the Wii U Eshop a few days before the Eshop shut down,(first time buying any version of this game) it was on sale for less then $5 (its 1 of 3 Wii games i got off the Wii U Eshop. Metroid Prime Trilogy & Punch Out being the other 2). i have yet to play it, but going by this video, it sounds like a great game. i haven't yet played it, but i will definitely have to soon

This is the best version of RE4 and i played most of them. The motion controls made this game distinct from the others and is my personal favourite RE game ever. It also single handedly made me believe in motion controls. It did not surprise me at all that every time there is a technological leap with motion controls or VR that RE4 always seems to be attached to it

Aside from briefly trying RE4 on the gamecube, the Wii edition is the only version of RE4 I have played, and it's just so good. It plays super smooth, you get a nice green target reticle, and it really lets you play faster. It makes the game easier for sure, simply because you have such fast and precise aim control, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Such a great game.

This is my favorite way to play the original RE4, it's a shame this control scheme wasn't brought back for the PC edition. I absolutely loved it in RE5 with the playstation motion controls as well, also never got the control scheme on the PC port either.

also if you have a wii zapper and are using usbloader gx, there's an ocarina cheat to remap the buttons to work with the zapper, it brings a lot more fun (and personally for me brings a bit of challenge to it,) and i love swinging the zapper left 4 dead style to use the knife, so idk if you have that try it

i first played RE4 on the wii, and i beat it like 2 dozen times, i loved that game. when i finally got the steam HD re-release a few years back, I actually was completely unaware that you had to aim with the laser on the gun in every other version of the game besides the wii version. It was shocking how bad I was at the game using the laser rather than the OP as fuck wii controls. Loved the wii version tho :)

The first time I played RE4 was on the wii at my best friends place when I was around 7. Saw the guy get burnt alive at the beginning of the game then got in trouble with my friends parents for playing an 18+ game at 7 years of age

The only thing that i dont like about this version is that playing it with the Wii controller makes the stock for the TMP and Red 9 pretty much like unused content in this version. Also, i think the recoil and shake of the weapons were part of the OG design which they are missing, so the game is way more easier. I can see why some people like this port more than the other ones. Personally i prefer the PS4 version the most which looks the best and of all the regular controllers also seems to have a better movement for the laser sight and i can easily do headshoots compared to for example PS2.

Not the version of RE4 that I played the most (PC 2007 was my gem), but I definitely enjoy it more! So much so, that I bought a PS3 with a full PS Move kit to have the same experience with RE5. It's a shame nobody talks about RE5 with the Move, maybe because people don't enjoy it as much, but playing it with motion controls is just as good as RE4Wii! Though the implementation wasn't as accurate, given the different technology used, it's amazing that you can actually play split screen coop with both players using PS Moves, and it just works!

Wii2HDMI stick only costs about $5 and it's an easy way to give your Wii a digital video output. Of couse it runs off VGA-like analogue RGB output feature of the Wii, so the quality is not bit- and pixel-perfect but it's vaguely decent enough. When it says "1080p HD" on the stick that's generally a blatant lie, the stick does no upconversion and just outputs 480p or even 480i digital video for your TV to interpret, which they generally do just fine with.

This was the first version of RE4 (and the RE series in general) I ever played. Thus I may be biased, but I _do_ think this is the definitive version of the game. I do have 2 very minor grips tho: The first being, I'm sad the visual animations didn't mesh that well with the cursor aiming. Mechanically, it works fine with no bugs. But visually you can see Leon is often not actually aiming where the cursor is, even tho the bullets still hit exactly where you are pointing. It isn't a big deal because you're going to be focusing on where you're shooting instead of how Leon is shooting. But still, would have been nice for that to be fixed. And second, even more minor than the first, I'm sad the cursor is just a basic crosshair. I feel like its a huge missed opportunity to make it a red dot to keep it in line with the og version of the game and its laser pointer, and to make it feel like the red dot was coming from your wiimote. :P I get your point that the crosshair's obvious color changes made knowing you are targeting a shootable to be way easier, but I still think a red dot would have been better. They could have just made the red dot shine much more obviously brighter when targeting a shootable.

This is probably why Remake has stupendous amounts of bloom aim, on top of the still "caffeine shakiness" that OG Leon had in the form of Camera sway. They know that KB+M players would be dead-eye accurate, so they need to only have specific weapons with laser pointers, on top of CQBR and LM5 being a more accurate "TMP". While annoying, that TMP shooting gallery would be a cakewalk if they kept the laserpoint accuracy of the Wii (and PC?) version. Red 9 is now an "inaccurate but powerful" handgun, made "spam friendly" with the stock (additional accuracy NOT included). Still, this adjustment does put the power weapons on the backfoot I think, and would probably just repeat the cycle again when the VR/Motion control version comes out (I'd imagine people won't buy the VR/Motion control versions if they keep the current bloom state).

9:39 Ok, this is hard to explain, but (if you played R4 in the Wii 16:9 mode) most Wii games with 16:9 mode dont actually run in widescreen, but instead at just a bit wider resolution than 4:3 mode and then stretched to fit the 16:9 aspect ratio (so the image automatically gets blurry). For Resident Evil 4 here, the case is a little different as the game still runs at the Gamecube native resolution, but the Wii extends it to a higher resolution in the 16:9 mode (for some unecessary reason), making the game look blurry than the 4:3ratio/Gamecube version. (also i dont know how the wii resolution scaling works on the wiiu) Basically, 4:3 is the best aspect ratio for the Wii, even for letterboxed games like New Super Mario Bros Wii, Metroid Other-M, and this game. i learned all this by myself thanks to the dolphin emulator with the video settings☝🤓 i suck at explaing everything and english is not my native languaje lol

Makes the shooting galleries not aids, makes sniping enemies with the pistol from far away a breeze and makes some bosses a lot easier being able to look up quicker overall makes the gameplay lots better it was also fun trying out every weapon with the new controls. Overall the only thing that compares is probably vr or pc, it honestly reminds me of the metroid trilogy type of aiming I think they both tried to do the same thing with different results.
