Why RSPB Scotland is worried about a giant windfarm that could catastrophically affect seabirds

An enormous wind farm is proposed off the East coast of Scotland. The Berwick Bank development will cover an area four times the size of Edinburgh.
Conservation organisations - including the RSPB - believe this development will have a serious impact on our already struggling seabird populations. The Scottish Government must act to stop this happening.
RSPB Scotland, The National Trust for Scotland, the Scottish Seabird Centre and The Scottish Wildlife Trust have come together to highlight the threat these turbines pose.

As commented before - why is that governments around the world appear to incompetent to work for nature, we all need it! Yet they are apparently so willing to support and fund those projects that work against nature.

It's a good video. The proposed wind farm should not go ahead in the form currently proposed.

None. In USA they been burying old wind blades in the ground. Can't even be used in building as they poison.

This looks like being a complete disaster for wildlife, I fully appreciate the need for renewable energy but if we lose our wildlife what's the point in being alive ourselves?

The Scottish Government is failing on so many levels, and the environment is becoming an epic failure. Yes, we need renewable energy, but not at the cost of habitat and dwindling wildlife.

is problem installation or/and birds flying into them .... kinds agree but what is causing the problem -- did I miss it ..

It's about them being killed by flying into it and also by the farm creating a barrier so that the seabirds can't reach food sources. It was mentioned briefly. They also spoke of the impact of harmed experiences of nature for people.
