What a beautiful place, nice to know you are trying to protect it. Is there any chance boars can be reintroduced, it seems odd being from another country that boars aren't allowed to rummage, specially when I thought boars had escaped and ran wild in the new forest
@philiptaylor7902Күн бұрын
Trees for Life tried reintroducing wild boar at Dundreggan but I don't think it was successful. I'd be surprised to see the RSPB try in Abernethy TBH, they are still too controversial - but who knows they may make it there under their own steam from one of the feral populations.

I think its about time the RSPB looks at the wage structure of the employee's it has. The senior management are not doing their jobs for the love of nature but a tidy salary, there must be people who can fill management positions who will do it for the love of nature, not financial reward.

Just fabulous to see all the hard work to enable these Peregrines and their family to survive to adults. I hope they return.

We've also had Peregrines nesting in Preston city centre in Lancashire for several years, it's magic watching and hearing them.

This is a first for me! I’ve never seen how to build a front/toad sanctuary. I’ve seen people lay a broken clay pot on the ground but that’s about it. I have a small shallow stream across the back of my lot. I am going to put in a wildlife pond later this year. I definitely will put in a couple of these for the frogs/toads. I did see a 5’ snake in my yard this week. Will they prey on the amphibians taking refuge? Is there anything I can do to protect the frogs and toads?

I live near Newcastle and about 3 years ago |I was cutting the grass, I bent over to empty the grass box and i suddenly got hit in the back of the head, I thought it was my mate carrying on! It was a Peregrine with a woodpigeon in its claws, laying at my feet, it let go and they both flew away! lol

My eyes nearly bulged out at 0.50! We don’t have those birds in the Southeast, USA. They are gorgeous! I’m researching putting in a pond now. I’m interested in one I saw which is meant as an all natural swimming pool- for creatures and people. I am not physically able to maintain a swimming pool. I have had large koi ponds. If I could combine the two, it would be perfect!

The box needs ventilation holes near the lid for warm moist air to escape, otherwise sweat and other water vapour will condense on the lid and walls when it's cold and make the insulating leaves and straw wet and cold - this can be a killer for the hog.
