Sales managers love to ask the question SELL ME THIS PEN. But it's a ridiculous one. Popularized by Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf Of Wall Street.
It lacks substance. And doesn't really serve a purpose.
Today, I am going to show you EXACTLY what I would do if I never got caught in this situation.
And no, I'm not joking.

To be fair on Jordan, he said he would ask people to sell the pen to see if they asked relevant questions such as "are you even in the market for a pen?" He said almost every trained salesperson waffled on about how you needed the pen.

You're totally right though ironically Jordan Belfort agrees with you. In several interviews he's said that the question is actually a test, if you try to hard sell him the pen you fail the test. What he's looking for are candidates who ask discovery questions, like "how long have you been in the market for a pen?".

Sir, I'm from Indonesia-Southeast Asia. That's true, it's also happen here. It's so confusing that lots of sales manager here don't have any sales experience. they just getting hired because they come from 'a reputable university'. no wonder why lots of sales team is in trouble. thank you for spreading this 'hard truth' :)

If I was to tell u I was looking for free information would u keep reading? Self employed carpenter I think I'm an order taker. But I turn half my leads into sales. Would you think about making a video on how to train order takers.

Taking orders is easier. Most "salesfolk" take orders because most let the prospect call the shots and determine the engagement rules. I teach them how not to do this. But it's genuinely hard to do.

I make stairs so I just discuss specs send a detailed PDF quote and over half sell. And 25% I miss because I don't meet the decision maker. Thanks for your reply been watching your videos for a year and u have helped in that time.
