Shah Slam is a good guitarist but in terms of ranking, I would say he is pretty close to the top 10 in Malaysia. There are better guitarist who have recorded and session with famous rock band. Hillary, Samad, Man Kidal, Joe and Kid are obviously the big 5. Then you have the low-profile Opie Bloodshed who have been “used” by M Nasir with big band such as Fotograf, May and even Wings first album. Izo XPDC iconic riff and solos. Karl Cromok crazy shredds. And of course, if we talking about “melodic”, you need to talk about Shahrul Ekamatra. That guy have been applauded by many musicians including Man Kidal himself. Listen to Satu Tekanan Irama album particularly songs like Pusara or Sentuhan Kecundang. These 2 songs are “wish list” to learn by new guitarists in early 2000s

Heard alot about Shahrul Ekamatra. With his melodic power and Improvisation I believed he has influenced many local guitarist. For Shah Slam, the best thing about his solo runs, most of them are easy to hum (not necessarily easy to play) and memorable. Anyway, great feedback from you Izzy Stradlin. I'll check on Shahrul after this, requested by many hehe 😁👍👍

@@donlaught For sure if you do Shahrul Eka video, confirm pecah punya. I would also suggest Opie Bloodshed, but he so low profile. Even rejected thousands ringgit for 1 hour interview. Beside Bloodshed album, iconic rock kapak songs played by him include 1. Cinta Kristal 2. Intanku Kesepian 3. Di Alam Fana Cinta 4. Gadis Bertudung Putih 5. Teringin

Aku minat shah..tapi bagi aku..genius melodic guitar player bagi aku ramai kat Malaysia ni.cuma tidak diberi peluang dan ruang.. Contoh salah seorang yg terbaik melodi guitarnya ialah Sharul ekamantra..bayangkan, beliau buat solo dan intro lagu lagu , senruhan kecundang, pusara dilebuhraya, hanya satu pesinggahan...ketika ini beliau baru berumur 16 tahun.. So..bagi aku..sharul memang budak genius dan ada soul dengan sentuhan gitarnya. Apa pun..shah slam pun tetap salah seorang favourite aku.. Love all guitar lagend

Yes, sangat setuju dengan apa yang di perkatakan brother. Ramai yang underdogs sebenarnya. And sharul tu even abang Man Kidal pun komen yang sama. Di ketika umur nya 16 tahun, sharul sudah berada di liga pemain² professional yang lain. Bukan itu sahaja. Touch dan tone gitar nya yang tersendiri. Dan utk Shah Slam ni, majority solo nya memang syahdu. Beliau tak emphasise speed sangat tapi lebih ke melody yang cantik and dpt di lagukan walaupun hanya mengguna kan mulut. Memang genius 💪💪💪
