Why do you think Shifu never visited Tai Lung in prison? It wasn't shown or mentioned in the movie, but I doubt Shifu would have. Tai Lung was a serious threat - he posed a danger to the peace of the Valley of Peace, and Shifu knew just how ambitious and capable he was. What would Shifu even say to him? Try to convince him that someone else (even a big, goofy panda) could be the Dragon Warrior? That would have been pointless - Tai Lung was obsessed with the Dragon Scroll, even after all those years in prison. Shifu probably understood this and chose not to visit. Deep down, he might have still seen Tai Lung as the cub he once raised, which is why he couldn't bring himself to fight Tai Lung when he escaped from prison. Plus, I'm sure Oogway would have advised against it - he was always the voice of wisdom.

@@Darrenlinkonthis is a very americanized movie featuring anthropomorphic animals doing kung fu. I don't think they were really going for historical accuracy here

My understanding is that Shifu didn’t because Tai Lung represented an failure on his part, he was so ashamed of himself he couldn’t even bare to see the mistake he was responsible for!

I don’t think Shifu could bring himself to face Tai Lung after what happened. How his love as an adopted father poisoned him and led Tai Lung on his dark path when he was denied the one thing that was promised to him his whole life, and when Shifu couldn’t say or do anything to comfort him. I think deep down Shifu knew this but was too ashamed to ever admit it, which is why he didn’t face Tai Lung and even sent Zeng to make sure he stayed in prison. But of course, as Oogway said. “One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it.”

Tai Lung did not care about the scroll and becoming the dragon warrior, what he wanted was to make Shifu proud and reach his expectations. Shifu always pushed the title and scroll as his destiny, something Tai Lung was entitled to after following his father's instructions and when Shifu abandoned him after learning Tai wasn't the dragon warrior, Tai understood that Shifu only cared about the dragon warrior, not him. Shifu betrayed and left Tai Lung as soon as he failed him. If anything Shifu is probably ashamed of himself for what he did to his son.

There’s a problem with your statement though. Shifu didn’t abandon him, Tai lung left out of his own free will after finding out he wasn’t the dragon warrior and attacked the palace afterwards. Thats why he was imprisoned not because Shifu was ashamed. Shifu tried to argue on tai lungs behalf but oogway was not having it. It was right to imprison Tai Lung, the dragon warrior is supposed to be someone who is humble and wise not arrogant and full of himself anyways and throwing a fit and a tantrum because he didn’t get his way and becoming a crazy villain out to murder all of his enemies.

Hey did you guys ever think about the fact in Kung fu panda 4 the chameleon could have taken Kai's ability to steal chi. She wold have beaten Po and stolen the chi of the dragon warrior since the only reason why po was able to stop Kai from taking his chi because everyone in panda village gave him their chi. So the Chameleon could finished off Zhen and rapped Po in her tounge and taken his chi and then she could have expanded her rule from Jupiter city to every city and town from there to the valley of peace and beyond.

@@Jackatack5901 The only reason he went insane was because of Shifu. The person he saw as his father, that refused to stand up for him. In Tai lung's words, he filled his head with dreams, made him train until his bones cracked, and when it was all said and done, denied him his destiny. The destiny that he trained his entire life to fulfill. In a way, it's all Shifu's fault.
