Thick soled shoes and arch support blunts the foot's ability feel the ground, which then cause a reduction in muscular stimulation. Over time, the compounding effect of less muscular contractions in the the feet and around ankles, cause them to become weak and ultimately the structures lose their integrity. Collapsed arches, often described as flat feet, as well as over pronation are signs of this weakness.

This is Exactly Right! I was told years and years ago shoe's ATE NOT MADE FOR OUR FEET. A man at a shoe repair shop showed me 5 insoles...They were all the same size but from different shoe's. He showed me how shoes are not made for our feet. I've wondered sometimes if bunion's and hammertoe's are really caused from shoes...well I know they are b/c if you look at your feet they are shaped like the shoe you're wearing...and not hereditary. Who's cause foot problem's. Wear wide toe-boxed shoes. I believe I know what I'm talking about .I've had 2 foot surgeries that didn't turn out.

barefoot shoes shouldnt be labelled barefoot and sold under a unique name. They are what regular shoes should be

10-years into learning about healthy footwear, I am grateful to understand and make needed corrections. The majority of shoes are not made with consideration foot health (zero lift, roomy toe-space) but for style. Seeing someone recover from bunion surgery is an eye opener.

Me too - I was 48 before I turned to minimalist/barefoot shoes. Now I don't have anything but minimalist/barefoot shoes.

the other side, how to avoid Plantar Fasciitis if you wear bareshoes running long time

If you wear barefoot style shoes, you probably shouldn’t be running on concrete. It’s not natural and it’s not good for you to do all the time. What I do is a mixture of mobility training with barefoot shoes and running with padded shoes (on concrete). If you can find some way to run on a softer surface, that will help a lot.

Bro i have a flat foot and doctor recommended to use flat foot soles or shoes in gym , running or in any outdoor activity so that my arc doesn't fall. I consulted orthopedic and one surgeon doctor both tolde to use flat foot shoes and soles. And one more thing my arc used to pain whenever I didnt use soles.so i would recommend you to consult any doctor A MD Medicine doctor can also consult in this matter

@Jamel Carpenter doctor told me to use shoes which have Arc support or flat foot soles because I have a flat feet and my arcs pain while doing any physical activity for longer time. My doctors never mentioned a term as Zero drop shoes. Remember I have flat feet so I am using flat feet soles and my Arc are also getting stronger after using flat feet soles. I would suggest you to consult a doctor before using zero drop shoes or flat foot shoes. While wearing running shoes , normal school shoes ,normal daily sandals would gave me pain so I had to use flat feet soles

For me it takes about 3-4 month with minimalistic shoes only. But i got first results already after 2-3 weeks. It`s really faster than we think)

I recommend slowly progressing into wearing minimalistic footwear. If you make the transition too quick, you could cause injury.

@@noor-md5yr Hello! Now my feets are awesome. I changed my all shoes to barefoot (someone might think of it as downside (lovely old shooes, money, e.t.c). B.t.w, my wife does same thing :). Most of all my shoes i like Luna Sandals. Anyway - there is no fast solution. Any body transformation must be continious and slow (if you want keep result for long years). On this way you need patien. But i can tell about my steps: - step by step i change my all shoes to barefoot; - i did some exercises for feets and learned walk basics (Todd Martin have a greate youtube channel); - i replaced my "standard" running shooes to Luna Sandals and changed my running tecnique. And most important advice: progress slow and listen your body.

for non high intensity sports yes, i play basketball n its necessary to wear cushioning shoes esp if u eat a lot

If they’re not thick or have any sort of arch support then yes. Same with slides or any other shoe.
