Why Smartphones Become Bigger If We Can Make Them Smaller

When cell phones first appeared, they were really bulky and expensive. These early phones consumed lots of power, so they needed really big batteries to run. Plus, electronic components were also pretty large in those days. Besides their brick-like bodies, they also had long external antennas to reach the cell network.
But as time passed, electronic parts became smaller, and battery capacity increased enormously. Internal antennas appeared, and phones became thin and light as the overall technology improved. A 3.5-inch screen seemed okay to most people, and we thought it would stay that size forever. But nowadays it’s hard to find a smartphone that has a screen smaller than 5 and a half inches. Modern smartphones just keep getting bigger. So why are we now using smartphones that resemble tablets, if we already know the ways to make them smaller?

2:22 This is plain wrong. Many phones these days (especially ones with higher-end chipsets) don't even come with radio antennas because chipset manufacturers often omit them entirely. Even if your phone does have a radio antenna, it's likely to be disabled unless the phone's model is region-specific to a non-western country's market. To enable the radio, you'd have to do some firmware mods with ROMs or Root Access. And even then, you'd have to get an App that's compatible with your specific radio hardware which is the biggest problem.

I can afford flag ship smartphones, but not their size. I want to upgrade from a S10 (149,9mm length!). It feels too big for me, already... 100% of the flagship smartphones are >160mm now. They would bend heavily in my trousers pocket when hiking... And it hurts, too...

The standard S22 - S23 series is as big as I ever want to get for a smartphone... yet by today's standards it's considered a compact phone. I have a laptop, and a TV for when I want to game or watch movies... I don't need to lug around a tablet all day for such purposes.

Brightside: camera need space and alot electricity Most people: but it doesnt it is actually pretty smal and most of the time we dont use it and even of we do it doesnt take up storage or space or anything and yes the phones get bigger but some brands like android actually look for features and requests from and for their buyers/customer/supporters so they can sell more and make their buyers feel more inclouded in the making of the phone

Just got my s 23 ultra haha. If I liked the folds I'd a gotten one of them. Love how in my 30s i am able to have all my entertainment in one device. Desktop work, phone, gaming, cloud gaming my music. Streaming the content I like is a huge reason my kids have had a sober father the last few years. I don't do the social media shyte but I love my smartphone in my life. Gimme the big screen

Most likely those were not the first words ever spoken using a cell phone, unless you're saying that Motorola engineers had not tested the cell phone at all prior to that conference.
