I don't think the fact that only one Lapis came is all that deep. It just shows that one of them was willing to change and the other was not - it mirrors how Larimar came back at the end of another episode to reassure Steven that what he had been trying to do, even if it wasn't right for the others, worked for her. It just shows that Steven and Lapis aren't "so right, everyone has to see it", because for their message to be heard, the person needed to be listening.

yeah and freckle lapis was actually open to dancing and I think she was just following curly haired lapis's lead and that's why she stopped dancing when curly gave her a mean look of disapproval

Just like Jasper said, Our Lapis is a brute. It wouldn't be too crazy to say she is a "Perfect" gem just like Jasper. When comparing skinny Jasper and Jasper we can see a huge difference in their power. Amethyst wasn't able to scratch Jasper at all. Jasper is still limited however to what she is, a foot soldier. Lapis lazuli however are supposed to be terra forming gems with high power and control. Wouldn't be too crazy to assume that groups of 2 to 5 Lapis are enough to terraform an entire planet. Out Lapis was alone because she can terraform a planet by herself. The two new lapis allows us to see how uncommon such strength is. Our Lapis is a brute.

I loved it when Lapis stopped the saw without use of her hands. Mean and Nice showed that Lapises can only really efficiently control water with their hands but Lapis has been honing her powers for so long and learning to use them for things other than destruction that she is able to do so much more than just terraform

This isn't accurate. In Mirror Gem, the *very first* thing Lapis does is summon a giant water hand without using her hands. It just shows that if she's pissed off enough she has a higher degree of control with her powers (thus, no need to make gestures).

is it just me, oR did nice lapis resemble lapis's original color palette? let when we saw her in ocean gem, she didn't have bright blue skin, with vibrant hair, she was very muted and almost exactly like nice lapis color wise (minus the gold freckles). do lapis's lighten as they get surrounded by more non water things/ their mood lifts? or was it just such an early episode that they decided to shift her colors later on? maybe its just me lolol

dont forget about reforming and the fact that lapis was cracked at a certain time, and the fact that they could possibly have era 1 and era 2 gem difference, and the fact that an entire cut of gems carry different similar color patterns and the fact that designs throughout the show rapidly changes due to understandable reasons in editing....hehe

Nope, lapis color palette changes with light. When it's dark she's darker, and her Natural colors have Always been Like that. Rewatch Ocean Gem, when she's on the top of her water tower she's her usual bright colours, because there was more light. Don't forget that in mirror gem and part of Ocean Gem when we see lapis it's night

Imma be honest, I think that Freckles might have been manipulated by Curly. Yeah Imma call her "Curly". Anyways, when Freckles was dancing, Curly looked at her with disgust, and that made Freckles say they should get back to teraforming. So maybe manipulating, or maybe it could just be that Freckles is dependent on Curly. So Curly hating her, that would make Freckles pretty upset. If this were true, than I think Freckles going to Little Homeschool by herself could be showing that she is making her own decisions to make herself happy, and not care what Curly is doing or what she thinks. Or you all can still think Freckles is evil, that's okay too.

Inb4 she just goes after the next strongest gem in their class and saw Lapis as the superior one. Thus going there to follow whatever Lapis said. Becoming Lapis's new lap dog and using her as her new curly. Of course, if that's the path the story took, I know it wouldn't be long before that would be changed as freckles started developing her own identity more, but I still think it'd take some time. I doubt she'd change in just a few hours so suddenly. Or maybe she is still evil. Who knows but i'm hoping for the best for her character. The more good Lapis(es?) we have the better! The world needs more Lapis! (Definitely one of my most favorite gems by far!)

I didn't get surprised that freckles came to little homeworld by herself, I was happy for her, the other lapis is obviously toxic, scolding her for just enjoying something that she doesn't, freckles seems to look up to her, but I'm happy that she was able to do something on her own, even if her "friend" wouldn't approve of it

Tbh i'm so happy that one of the Lapises came back at the end I was getting tired of steven being edgy and not being able to help anyone properly By only having one gem come back, it differs the idea of the original series, that being "everyone will change if you talk to them!" At the same time, it also prevents Future from being stuck with the idea of "if you try to help you'll only change a little bit. You won't make a big impact."

Can we talk about how Steven met these Lapises that had destroyed several worlds and intended to destroy several more (or at least one of them did), had the power to stop them, and just UP and LEFT? "Hey guys! You mind not murdering innocent alien creatures and ruining their planets? ...no? shrugs Too bad, you can't change everyone's mind... let's go, Lapis." Steven is literally complicit in genocide! Stopping those Lapises - by force if necessary - is his responsibility and he just left them to it. What the fuck?

My thoughts on this are all Lapis Lazulis are confirmed to be hot, and freckles is there to start a new life which she in turn left mean lapis behind because mean lapis doesn't want to change. I believe mean lapis is somehow going to join a militia of other gems that did not like the changes.

They probably skipped it. That would just make their views of Lapis worse since this episode was some development for her. I would say a lot because I could see a lot of development but a Lapis hater would probably come and say something like, "You and me have different definitions of 'a lot'," and I don't wanna deal with that.

Why... are there haters of fictional characters? That's a simple way of handling things you cant identify or empathize with. Hating something/one that "violates" you: Im not a fan of this extreme, but at least that makes sense. Lapis doesnt violate anybody, no fictional character does. Everything else comes down to "haters" being irritated of things they dont get, they dont understand, they have low tolerance for because of personal "negative" experiences with something similar (negatively perceived). Its a lazy protection mechanism, distancing yourself from irritating things. Excluding them, filtering those out. Getting over the irritation by learning how you get irritated and why would be much more responsible and strong. Watch the character you "hate" be theirself and ask your self: whats my problem? Others dont seem to react like me so why do I react so rejecting? Where does it come from in my life? How did I learn to react this way? Stop the unnecessary "hate" trend. Help others see that they could instead learn something about themselves instead of being a pain in other peoples asses. Cool

I love how Malachite had an Ursula moment, and now Lapis does it again cx Also I think having only one Lapis show up on the warp pad was the best possible outcome. It shows that you can reach some people, but not others. Or that some people are willing to change, but not everyone.

Like you said, mean Lapis didn't go with nice Lapis, but you also said that whereas nice Lapis was open to integrating into E3 culture, mean Lapis was repulsed by it; and I think for that reason, whereas nice Lapis took Steven's and Lapis Lazuli's offer, mean Lapis simply stayed behind. I think you're right to assume that there's no malicious intent, but I also feel as though you're right about there being more to it than them simply not going together. I think for this reason, nice Lapis, being nice Lapis, decided she would go for mean Lapis, to determine whether or not E3 truly delivered on its ability to help now jobless gems find their place within society.

I predict that we might see a Pietersite fusion (Curly, Eyeball, and Aquamarine fusión to keep the old ways, with Curly being the downfall of said powerful fusion) Or a Sodalite, maybe decaf too, fusion (Holly blue, Eyeball, and Aquamarine fusion with a LIGHT SABER!) Of COURSE Lapis isn't gonna wanna fuse again after the toxic relationship with Jasper! That's why her relationship with Peridot works so well, because Peridot is asexual, so there's no pressure on her to have to fuse to have a relationship.

I think freckles and curly are taking 2 different approaches to wanting to become stronger then our lapis, freckles wants our lapis as a mentor while curly wants to train by herself and start fights while with our lapis while her guard is down, basically I think their going to be pushing our lapis to be a fighter despite her not wanting to be, similar to gohan’s arc in the cell saga but not entirely the same

Honestly I really do hope freckles joins the good guys but I can see her remaining as one of the bad guys, since she is in the intro screen as one. But then again so is Jasper and right now she has seemed pretty neutral. As in, no longer (as far as we know) fucking shit up for Steven or going after the Crystal Gems but still not tolerating this new lifestyle as of yet. But who knows, perhaps she may still become a villain yet. I hope not but if she does I hope in the end Jasper also sees the light and joins the good guys, even if only temporary against a stronger foe. Of course, I hope freckles follows the same path. But if she became a permanent good guy that'd be amazing. The world could always use more good lapis(es?) after all!

I was honestly expecting and hoping, as the fight between our Lapis and Curly and Freckles got more intense, we were finally going to see a Lapis Steven fusion. And while it was good seeing Lapis prove she's no slouch to the other two... I was still very disappointed we didn't get the fusion

I THINK I FIGURED OUT THE SYMBOLISM BEHIND CAT STEVEN: I’m the episode Volleyball, Pearl finds out about a different side of pink. Maybe Cat Steven missing an eye is supposed to resemble the part of Pink that Pearl and the other CG’s never saw. What ISN’T seen in Steven too. What this part of the series is going to be about. What wasn’t seen. Just like how Cat Steven can only see half of things, we’ve only seen half of Pink and Steven.

I love how they made the "villains" scene in the intro, and then the villains all turn out to be sympathetic antagonists. Makes we wonder what exactly were in for with white diamond and the worm creature, now that we know they're not just going to be straight up evil.

I still hold on to the hope Lapis will fuse, one day; albeit accidentally. I imagine such an incident will have either Steven or Peridot being the second half of the fusion

You forgot that when lapis says "see your true colors shining thru" the lil blue alien thingy shows golden core in it which is kinda like how lapises have a golden color in them which isnt shown much (like how our lapis only showed it after becoming a cg and how nice lapis only has it in the form of freckles

I think it's intentional misdirection. The villain shot in the opening makes it look like there's a big, united threat when it's all about the limits of helping, Steven's troubles and very personal challenges so far. So unless there is a double feint and a big rebellion is brewing in secret, I think this will not be another Diamond attack scenario, but a slow escalation of Steven's internal issues into a complete meltdown.

Looks like Bluebird Azurite's Rebellion has a New Member; Mean Lapis!!! I'm Sure there will only be More Antagonists joining them; such as Morganite(Yes; the same one that was the owner of the Off-colors' Rhodonite), Emerald, Holly Blue Agate, and several other Gems that are Anti-Era 3!!

Yes! Definitely! Holly Blue is bound to join they Bluebird team, go back and watch her scene in Rose Buds, that was foreshadows for something, and Emerald, a Gem who haven't been seen since her debut episode, a high ranking Gem who is proud of her status, who probably won't be turn around so easy by Era 3, would surely join their gang, and as for Curly (Mean Lapis) she is highly bound to join them, as unlike Freckle (Nice Lapis) was shown not to be turn over so easy by Steven and Lapis and don't view her action as wrong and probably see Steven as the only one in her way of doing that, so she most likely will join them all just to get Steven out of the way.

I think the fact that Lapis views fusion as imprisonment sets up potential development for later. I wouldn't count her out fusing just yet.

I love how they set up the two lapis in this episode. Seeing freckles dance only to stop after curls looks oddended. Screams volumed about their relationship. I can easily see her as a follower, a good person at heart, but maybe not hanging out with the right people. I look forward to her the most, because she means so much. In a way, its just like curly said. It mirrors rose and pearl. Two people who seem to care for each other, but the power is not equal, the intentions are not as aligned as they believed. One wants to try something new and the other doesnt. What do you do when you realize your best friend has outgrown you? More likely then not, curls will feel betrayed and pull a Spinel. Geez why do so many Blue gems hate Steven Era 3. What was Blue Diamonds Court in charge of?

This episode made me think of 'what's the use of feeling blue' from the zoo arc. Not only because the titles are so similar, but because the messages are. This episode, and the song, both deal with gems and their purpose. In the song, Yellow was reminding Blue she had to be strong and a leader, that's her role. In this episode, Steven and Lapis were going after the two gems who were still doing what they were made for, who didn't really have any purpose now in Era 3, but they offered to help them find new purposes. Maybe that's just me though.

When lapis had made a giant water lapis around her it reminded me of the susano from naruto. And also when lapis and Steven were dancing I was so ready for a fusion. And when she said something about fusion in the song I was sure she would fuse cause she can elarn fursion doesn't have to be painful

I really loved Why So Blue?. It was a beautiful Lapis episode and I loved everything about it. Especially the end. In my mind, I see only Freckles joining as kind of a "Heathers" or "Mean Girls" trope. As stated, Curly is... Mean, and you can tell she was the "boss" of Freckles. When Freckles is dancing along, she immediately stops when Curly looks at her, and Curly is the source of all the directions and insults. Freckles makes minor jabs or comments, and seems to follow Curly. I think she chose to come because she liked the dancing, she liked the creativity. I believe she wanted to learn how to change

Lapis fight with the twin lapis was intense. What i noticed since shes been apart from Jasper she did take on the strength part of her in being superior. When she transformed to her final form of her power has a bigger water lapis and said "whos pittyful now" and steven looked at her. That realization i bet made her think oh no its Jasper all over again.
