@@Silver77cyn Actually, if all prophets were false, then Jesus wouldn't have bothered telling us how to tell the difference in His Sermon on the Mount. ("Ye shall know them by their fruits.") Without prophets, there would be no scripture, including the Bible. That said, people of faith are supposed to have the gift of "discernment" (the ability to tell truth from error), which is a gift of the Holy Spirit. The lack of it, shows a lack of true faith (which is a belief in TRUTH, not nonsensical dogmatic absurdities).

I lost a 25 year friendship with someone who was a lapsed Catholic when I met him. But for the last 5 years of our friendship, he fell into the Evangelical world, and almost like magic, fell into the world of conspiracy theories as well before tripping down the QAnon rabbit hole. I couldn't take listening to it anymore, so we became more and more distant until we just lost contact with each other. His personalty change during that time was heartbreaking.

I've watched the same thing happen to friends and family who grew up in cults and different evangelical sects, they get out, and then fifteen or twenty years later like clockwork they just fall into a slightly different one and convince themselves it isn't the same because of some slight difference in teaching. It's almost like they get tired of having to think for themselves and get nostalgic for the toxic environment that almost killed them when they were younger, so they return to it. Maddening.

Many of us have lost people like that. The common thread is that they have suffered in life and been stepped on so much that anything that offers them the hope of power captures their mind completely. Like any dopamine hit, religion and thoughts of conquering the "bad people" makes them feel bullet proof when they really lean into it. Like any drug, the amount and purity of the thing they are using escalates until they can no longer function and they hit rock bottom. At that point they'll either die or pull themselves back into the real world. In the meantime there's nothing anyone can do for them except try to prevent them from hurting themselves and ruining the lives of everyone around them.

I don't know if you have stepped outside recently, but it's hotter than it has ever been in my lifetime. And it was the hottest I've experienced up to that point last year as well. Then the racist people or even average people who don't think about race hear how elite schools are teaching kids that there are 8 levels of whiteness and they must be a white abolitionist. As an atheist who was forced to go to church every Sunday come hell or high water until the day I turned 18, I can say that churches WERE better when they were apolitical than they are now. When I was a kid in Sunday school we were taught that we were the children of God and that God is love. If the church erred in any direction, it was in it's unwavering devotion to ending the Vietnam war, but nearly all churches were anti-war when I was a kid in the 60s and 70s. The straw that broke the whole "church's camel's back" for my son was that the junior high and high school kids were being called *"Warriors for Christ,"* which TOTALLY ticked us both OFF! Neither of us approved of the whole "War on Terror." One can't just declare war against a feeling, for Pete's sake! It's like declaring war on _ennui,_ it just can't be done! The eventual outcome of all the death, destruction and damage of the last 20 years has been sickening, and *predictable!* Every other country who has declared war on Afghanistan for CENTURIES has found it to be a hopeless money pit where nothing is ever accomplished.

People are trained by the Christian religion to make inferences then leap to conclusions concerning faith, which is the same tactic used by QAnon conspiracy theorists and their ilk. Also, throughout history, Christians have looked to "mini messiahs" to 'save' them from whatever ails them, like the Catholic Pope, Martin Luther, Joan of Arc, Charlemagne, Jonathan Edwards, Billy Graham, so it's no wonder they're turning to political personalities like Ronald Reagan & Donald Trump to 'save' them from perceived wrongs according to the Christian Religion's tenents.

Reminds me of that poster on Agent Muller's office in the X-files show. A photo of a UFO with the caption " I want to believe". Which is something I would have a serious problem with. It should be " I should be skeptical. I should be think before I believe something. It seems agent Muller wants throw his sense of reason or intellect out the window for a blind belief in something unreal. Not much different from the religious believers and new agers. I could see an evangelical with a poster of Jesus Christ or god with the same motto" I want to believe". Not to question anything but simply to believe.

@Quran Meaning Translated - English Only we believe that Jesus was both fully God and fully man, meaning he had two natures. A divine nature and a human nature. These natures are fully separate but come together in the person of Jesus. In his human nature, Jesus did not know the date of his second coming (just like us), however in his divine nature he is omniscient and therefore knows when he will come. It can be very confusing 🙃

@Quran Meaning Translated - English Only Jesus is fully God and fully man. Jesus said he did not know the day or the hour but only the father did Jesus being 100 percent man did not have the ability to to know the end of the world. Jesus is the perfect example for how we should live to please God. In the Bible every prophet had a morale failure only God can make us a way to him and make an example for us because he is the only one perfect and holy just like how Jesus was blameless we humans have a nature to sin God cannot be around sin God is like the sun his glory will destroy us but God sent Jesus to bring us to the father.

I am a Christian who doesn’t subscribe to a sub religion such as Catholic or evangelical… I’m ashamed of my kind but I understand it… the religious model is based around ‘follow without question’. Not just your God, but your human pastors. I do think they got this wrong though. Most church leaders are NOT passive. They pander to their congregation just like Fox News or Newsmax etc. The ppl want to hear a specific thing and without those ppl they have no job. They give them what they want to hear. It turns into this cyclone of beliefs. Even if you don’t buy into a thought 100% chances are you will still get swept up in the rhetoric. The other pastors teach shame and fear. Fear is what leaves those cracks open for ppl like Tucker Carlson to creep in.
