I have one question for you. The sun does disappear at the horizon. It looks bigger at the horizon than when it is on top of your head. But a plane on top of your head looks bigger than when it reaches the horizon. Why is it so?

The problem with your statement is that the distance that you claim put you over the horizon actually is just that the land is so far away you can't see it with the naked eye. I have seen the experiment and once you included a telescope the land is again visible.
