You are honestly so brilliant, I’m a huge gamer but I’ve never realised there’s hardly any brands that do gaming fashion well and that it’s a big untapped market

Thank you fam. I appreciate the compliment. Honestly I'm just always studying the market to see where the voids are. I'm glad that you as a gamer can confirm that there isn't any real clothing brands in the market.

I respect the tenacity you have for the topic, but I don’t believe this information should be aimed at someone just starting a streetwear brand. They most likely don't have the capital to negotiate licensing fees when it comes to using video game IP in their designs. Also, game developers don't integrate just any clothing brands into their games. These integrations are paid sponsorships/marketing campaigns by brands like LV, Gucci, and Bape. The average AAA video game costs between $60 and $80 million to develop, and developers use these integrations to help fund their game. No average person starting a streetwear brand has millions of dollars to afford video game integration, and no game developer has the time, money, or resources to spend on creating 3D models, textures, clothing physics simulations, and animations to take chances on integrating a start-up brand's clothing into their video game with no promise of any return on investment. Additionally, the vast majority of gamers dislike the idea of microtransactions. Although they are prevalent and profitable, companies that engage in these practices are not viewed favorably. There is one case where this has worked that I have seen, so I can’t say this market isn’t worth pursuing, but the only thing I would add to this video is that if you’re going to create a small company around game apparel and other gaming products, be a genuine fan of the game and a real member of its community. The company I’m referring to, called "Creator Crafted," began by creating neon lights/lamps and cuddly plushies of items and monsters from the game they've spent their lives playing, "RuneScape." They built a strong reputation within the game's community as a popular content creator on KZfaq and Twitch long before they started their company, and the items they were initially selling started out as a hobby. Because the developers have such a good relationship with their game’s community, they saw that their IP was being used to sell products and were generous enough to offer "Creator Crafted" a legitimate licensing agreement instead of a cease and desist. (That would never happen with a company like Nintendo). So, unless you can replicate a story like that with a beloved game that has an incredibly long shelf life and strong community (RuneScape has been running for over 20 years), I don’t see it being easy for an outsider to the video games industry, with the intention of creating a streetwear brand, to break into the market as you’re suggesting. Also please don't get me started about how the gamers hate NFT's... (NFT's are absolute garbage in their current form, they won't be useful, until something like the deed to a house can be sold as an NFT without having to involve real estate agents or something)

Bro! You wrote a lot. lol... But I totally get what you are saying. I was just trying to point out by referencing the luxury brands in it to show how that if they are doing this that means something big is happening in this market. Now as a small or just starting brand I'm not implying you need to come into the game at the level. You can enter it the same way you do streetwear. You just have to adjust your approach. That means your graphics, marketing has to fit more toward them. The idea is not to create a gaming brand today and expect to be selling items at $2000. But because the market is so open you can actually grow a small brand without the the pressure of 100s of other competing breathing down your neck.

Totally agree that this market is hot, but unless you're trying to make it on just botlegs, you're gonna need serious money or brand recognition to get in the door. Everything you mention relies on collabs, nothing solo. I imagine unless your brand is on that Nike-ish, level, you'll need to pay Epic generously to get skins into Fortnite. Even then, I doubt they'd include brands that are anything less than already wildly successful and popular. Same goes for the liscencing of popular gaming franchies, like League or Minecraft. There's a reason all these collabs are with high fashion. They can pay the price of admission. I think if you're already successful in an adjacent space and want to diversify, or expand, there's definitely a ton of potiental here. I'd be curious to hear your ideas on getting started in gaming from the jump though. I'm struggling to think of solid ways in the door fresh for a new startup.

I agree with all your points. But, Unless you are trying to come out the gate trying to compete with the luxury brands in this space than yes you are going to really need money to get in. here's the thing if you are willing to build small and slow you can do it. My thought of entering the space is via social media. If you market towards gaming it will get eyes on your brand. If you are streaming in game play or reviewing it and wearing the gear thats you foray in. There's a lot more to it but that how you can start.

@@planetbrooklynacademy That's an excellent point. I hadn't thought about just marketing to the crowd without having a collab in place already. I'm sure with enough research into what the average gamer is wearing, wants to wear, you'd be able to tap into something strong there!

What it sounds like you need is a partner. You are doing to much and not focusing on what you do best, and thats being creative. Find someone you trust and who believes in what you are doing. Let them handle the logistic stuff. When I first started my partner, a former college friend, he was a designer. With him focused on that I could focus on graphics, marketing and brand building. Things worked out perfectly.
