@corimyers49854 жыл бұрын
This right here...PERFECT. He's a comedian and did his job. Anything else he says doesn't really matter. I'm looking through all of the 'he's fake' comments and I keep asking out loud, do any of you know him? I'm not defending anything he's said. I just took him at what he is. A comedian and sometimes he's funny to me, sometimes he's not. But he's not Malcolm or a Martin. And we as a people need to stop thinking celebrities of any race have answers for us. As for his dating book. To each their own. I've tested somethings and some things work, and some don't. If it doesn't work for you..don't do it. I don't understand those comments either. I always thought the book was more to get women to respect themselves and look for a guy who will respect them enough to listen to their wishes. Whether it's sex on the 1st days or the 100th. But once again, Steve is a CELEBRITY. He's human just like the rest of us. He'll make mistakes, he'll fall, but what we shouldn't be doing is pointing and laughing. If you're trying to tie him to the black experience of some sort. Then he's just another person, who's black and has some facet of his character that some of us don't like. That's it. He doesn't deserve to be vilified nor does Monique. I don't like Tyler Perry AT all. But I celebrate his accomplishments. None of us are one dimensional and we should stop expecting our celebrities be our heroes and above reproach. They are human. Period. Love them or leave them.

White folks gave him a platform so he could spread his ill advice throughout the black community to cause dissention between men and women. It worked more than they planned for, with him crossing over to the point of having a greater white television audience than black. That's why they pulled him off tv and left him relegated to his syndicated radio show where his audience is over 85% black.

Very true - I used to intern at a radio station in the 90’s when he was just a comedian (pre Steve Harvey sitcom) and he had about 5 bodyguards as if he was the President of the US and he was just as arrogant then as he is now and one of the bodyguards signaled for me to move because I was blocking his view of Steve and this was all in the radio station lobby.

@innerself37964 жыл бұрын
@Leroy Gardner Your rationalization is a little too pedestrian to be anywhere near front street so this will be my last remark to you. I stated "Steve didn't become anything" What you took from that says more about how you feel about him than anyone else. Just because people have their own opinions doesn't mean that the community is full of haters. Just maybe our perspective is a bit more clear than yours.

Can you just imagine Steve Harvey in Oceans? Dead Weight.
@worldwide43764 жыл бұрын

@russellleblanc15393 жыл бұрын
@Fatonya Mitchell the character Harvey wanted in that movie was Taylor Made for Bernies style of acting/personality. It was just Bernie being Bernie perfectly. See Harvey didn't give a #@%£ about all that noise. Harvey thought "High profile movie. High profile part. Bernie??! Well I'm ovbiously more popular, beloved, and funnier/better actor than him. They probably thought I would turn the part down since I'm such a big mover n' shaker. Lemme give them a call and let them know I was interested in the part and that they didn't have to stoop as low as Bernie. Once they hear I'm interested they pick me in a second".. Pfff boy was he wrong. Thing is alot of ppl who feel themselves too much become delusional on their own self worth and actually start to believe their own mental bullsh*t they tell themselves like "I'm way more talented than Bernie Mac". Absolutely not buddy, do NOT confuse being richer than him as having more talent. If you play your cards right, get yourself a fancy agent who can promote your name nicely they can easily up your salary 10 fold for gigs you have no business doing. Bernie was the type of guy that did all his own talking about salaries and what not. Not being a multi sellout focusing his time on friends n' family while Harvey focused on making money and putting himself out their into everything that would pay the most. Mac was not only a better actor but was EASILY funnier than Harvey. Mac could actually drop fire punchlines that were funny and made you laugh for real unlike someone who would relay on observational humor which gets old fast like: I saw that boy leaving the bathroom with toilet tissue stuck to his foot and I was like (makes silly face) BOOOOOOY!!! WHAT THAA HECK YOUS DOIN'??? See, not really anything amazing. Might garnish a cheap giggle but it wasn't really a joke to being with, just a story told with silly expressions (Harvey's M.O.). The fact that Harvey went behind his "friends" back to try n' leave him broke down on the road while he drives on ahead with Mac role is such a buddy f**ker thing to do. It along the same ballpark of calling your friends Girl/Wife and trying to express your long lost feelings for them being the friends back. Its rotten. I've had friends try this to me only to embarrass themselves lol. Happened to my dad too. Lol he called his friend up immediately like "Seriously? My wife guy? We have a child together but you're just more important than all that right?". Friend: Nah you're right, you're sooo right. Idk what I was thinking. Must've been the booze talking. Tell you what, I'll make it up to you. Dad: You can make it up by quoting your job asap cause if I see you at the office it won't be fun for you. (Never saw that guy again lol).

I have a story about Steve Harvey. I went to Memphis for a conference years ago; stayed at one of the larger hotels downtown - not far from Pyramid Arena. Anyway, I'm in the lobby and I see that the shoe shine man has New Orleans Saints paraphernalia on his stand. I go over and talk with my homeboy; just shooing the breeze about the Saints - he offers a shoe shine, I accept and pay him well plus a nice tip. He also had a lot of pictures of the celebrities that came through and had their shoes shined or just snapped a shot with him. I asked him who was the nicest etc., - then he goes (unprovoked) "But that Steve Harvey?...that's a nasty dude right there!" He told me that Steve Harvey sat in the chair, wouldn't shake his hand, no small talk, and then bossed him and told him how to shine his shoes! Then he gets up when the brother is done and walks away. The brother goes "Shoe shines a'int free bruh!" Steve turned to one of his underlings and said "Pay the nigga his lil money!" and then he walked away. This was back in the Kings of Comedy Days BTW.
