Why should today's Christians study the writings of the Christians from the Pre-Nicene period (AD 75-325)?
If you would like to subscribe to this channel via email, send your request to postapostolicchurch@gmail.com.
Quotations from ancient writings might be paraphrased because many of them were translated in the 1800s. I have done my best to keep this to a bare minimum.

Isn't part of the point ☝️ that it was organized Religions that muddied the waters Humans chose what books went in and what was left out The writings of Pre Nicene era were truer to the actual evidence 🧾 To say This is God's Word? As if that's all He's had to say Or to whom!? Religious fanatics is what caused the CHRISTIANS who kept the Dead Sea Scrolls to Fear that knowledge would be lost forever India has Christians Yes But what about Ghandi? He's in Hell right!?? Some Justified God of Unconditional Love huh

I am 59 years old and for the 1st time in nearly 40 years I am finally so overwhelmingly hungry to study what took place after the apostles went to heaven. Now I can finally discover exactly how living simply in my faith based on the truth really benefits my life and how it will allow me to share truth with the common man. I spent an entire generation deeply steeped in the Southern Baptist ways and the starch has slowly been washed out out of my mind and heart but not without great pain and suffering. Not only am I born again but my mind is being transformed and it feels wonderful to finally understand the truth of God's word the way it was originally intended. I will indeed continue to watch for all of your videos so God-bless you and keep up this good work for truth!

@@1963wheelerTouched by your testimony. I am from Southern India where the legend is that St Thomas the Apostle came here to evangelize the Jews who were already living here as a part of the diaspora. He established 7 churches here by converting the high class hindu Brahmin families etc etc. In the 7 & 8th centuries Syrian orthodox bishops came here and the church grew bigger . No gospel !only Syriac chanting and Mary worship . that was the Christianity here. I believe the Thomas legend is the gnostic Thomas who is supposed to have come to India. First time the christians here who were under the Syrian orthodox patriarchate heard the Gospel was when British missionaries came here and translated Bible into local language. There was a reformation after understanding the Gospel . The reformed faction is known as Mar thoma Church after the name st Thomas. Not long after a methodist missionary came Dr E. Stanley Jones. He spoke in our annual convention for 50 years continuously. He integrated hinduism into our church . The leaders have become hindus . Evangelism is suppressed. Church is become Ecumenical. A slow take over by the enemy. Thousands of people left . Wherever there is true Church satan sends his envoy and destroys it.

Not digging the day or 2 of fasting prerequisite for immersion mentioned in Didache
@someoneontheinternet3090
@someoneontheinternet3090 4 жыл бұрын
@@vindicatednews9169 Christ did say "when you fast" not "if you fast" and Paul spoke as if he assumed everyone he spoke with in the church had been baptized. The Didache does allow for pouring if need be and baptism is probably the easiest of all commands we were given so I can't imagine why people wouldn't do it. The Didache isn't scripture, but it does show what very early Christians seemed to believe. Since I already felt the Bible was pretty strong on baptism I have no issue with seeing that it was considered essential. Jesus said "why do you call me Lord but do not do what I commanded?" I get what you mean though. I've never fasted and the idea is hard for me because I eat a lot. But I'm taking that as a sign that I need to fast. I wish to be ruled only by Christ.
@vindicatednews9169
@vindicatednews9169 4 жыл бұрын
You typed more than you can chew. You should just provide a verse or 2 that states fasting is a prerequisite to be baptized. Instead you included verses that might condemn somebody who is weak in the faith. Try selling all that you have to truly be his deciple instead of practicing hypocrisy.

@Read Father Seraphim Rose I do read John Chrysostom and I appreciate his profound commentaries. He is in tune with Pre-Nicene beliefs. However, I do not subscribe to Post-Nicene "new" doctrines which the Pre-Nicene fathers were explicitly and adamantly against, e.g., icons, images and prayers with the dead or for the dead, veneration of theotokos, etc. Hence, I am very Ante-Nicene and primarily Wesleyan. But I do believe we have true brothers in these other denominations.

@Read Father Seraphim Rose Thank you Father Rose, I have the complete set by Philip Schaff of the ante-Nicene, Nicen and post-Nicen Fathers. I do get material from John Chrysostom. However, I aim to digest the ante-Nicene writings first before I get into the others. I know Wesleyans read the Cappadocian "fathers" but, like I said, pre-Nicene first. The more famous ante-Nicene bishops did quite clearly condemn images and icons for whatever reason. 2 Esdras 7 of the Clemetine Apocrypha seems to confirm Luke 16 where the rich man in Hades could not talk with Lazarus in paradise, neither can anyone living talk to departed believers.
@crossculturecommunity6593
@crossculturecommunity6593 3 жыл бұрын
@Read Father Seraphim Rose I agree with you mostly. However, it is more logical for me to think that post-Nicene teachings are the ones that contain distortions of the "original" ante- Nicene Apostolic teachings, not the other way around. I would put more weight on the generations close to the Apostles teaching rather than centuries after introducing the distortions of time. language and context to the interpretations and succeeding doctrinal "inventions"

I don't want to appear as though I am "majoring on minors", but I am a stickler for not asserting unproven claims as true (or untrue), just because they SOUND reasonable, or because "they are likely to be true". One example is when people state that none of the original writings by Paul, Peter, or any other New Testament writers exist today. That might be true, and it might not. We don't know, as there are literally thousands of extant manuscripts and partials. It would be more reasonable to state that "it is unlikely that any of the original writings remain". Although this particular claim doesn't have any risky applications, the principle itself is a good one to follow to keep one from making more risky errors. Thanks again for this labor you've undertaken. It is a great blessing for those of us who want a greater understanding of God's word!

This video has many errors. Truth is not found here. 3-John 1:9-10 says that there were serious problems in the church at his time, which would be before 95ad. =The important commandment is to love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul and mind, =This is explained in several verses.. =To Love God means to keep God's commandments. =We know that all the 10 commandments are God's commandments. =The 10 commandments includes the Literal Saturday Sabbath. =Several times in the NT it says to keep the commandments of God. =Several times verses in the NT and OT say God does not change, meaning he is consistent. -=Any church that does not keep the Literal Saturday Sabbath is apostate.

There was another St. Ignatius of Antioch - 100. Known as Theophorous or "The God Bearer". He, Clement of Rome & Polycarp - Disciples of John the Apostle. Ignatius Theophorous was martyred in Rome over his Letters on Early Christian Theology. I think the other two were martyred by the Roman Influence & Emperor.

PreNicene beliefs may have lead to the spread of Manichaeans across Europe and Middle East. The Manichaeans were more persecuted by the Romans, Persians, Chinese and even the Christians. Mani was a 3rd century preacher who started a new religion that combined different aspects of Judaism, Zoroastrianism (Good and evil gods), Christianity and Buddhism and it became more widespread than Christianity in the Roman Empire, Persia and China. The followers were harshly persecuted so they may have fled to Gaul during Holy Roman Empire and became cathars. They then formed the Knights Templar and joined the crusades in the 12th century…

Blaise, thank you for commenting. I agree. Since making this channel, it is surprising how many Christians are teaching that observing the Sabbath is required. Perhaps making a video on what the early Christians believed about the Sabbath is more important than I originally thought. It still may be a while before that video is released, but it is certainly in the works... eventually. God bless!

Don't you think it is quite clear what the scripture teaches on that? For example start by reading what the apostles said was the ONLY laws required by non Jews to follow. Then look at the patterns laid down by Paul and the apostles in all the letters. Then notice that in every occasion they gathered on the first day of the week to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Also note how the book of Hebrews demonstrates that the Sabbath like many other old testament feasts were there to point us to Christ.
@Blessed_by_Yeshua

The Sabbath is something Jesus/Yeshua adhered to-traditionally passed down from the Beginning. A day of rest, and a day to reflect on the phenomenal works of our Creator, YHWH. I like that you see the first day of the week as Resurrection Day, and a celebration thereof. I believe many Christians whose eyes are beginning to really open don’t want to celebrate “Sunday” as the day of dedication to and worship of our Father since Constantine was a pagan and Constantine gave early Christians one day to worship and he wanted the day they worshipped to be when they (the pagans) worshipped their sun god. I can see how Christians don’t want to worship on Sun(god)day. But when put in proper context, it would be better if we didn’t call it Sunday worship, but Resurrection Day worship.

I enjoy the part that you explain they dealt with the same problems as today. To me, it seems as though this new idea of "don't bring religion into this" leaves humans to think they have power to decide rationalize and fix these things themselves without guidance from the Bible. This idea is pushed into schools sure for religious freedom but ultimately to tell us to let those who are higher in authority decide for us rather than using our God given rationality to see what is right and wrong. I believe God is within us all, and the Holy Spirit makes it so that we can do kind things and continue to do right by others. There is a lot of political and business interest to gain when children are taught at a young age don't use the Bible for guidance. Those who own businesses rather its medical advice, therapy, drugs, people coping with alcoholism turning to their friends/peers for advice is all wrong. The truth is the Bible is here to guide us and help us solve all the same problems, but we have been brain washed to believe Religion and Beliefs are meant to be hushed and kept quiet... why because this only benefits the devil. You cannot do what God has intended for you to do when you're consumed with drugs, addicted to sex, pornography and ultimately its a waste of your time. We know time is very valuable and each person should use their time to do right by others and live by God's will. Using ones time to continue to sin doesn't progress any individual. Ultimately this causes insecurity within, self loathing which is what the devil wants so someone continues to believe they are stuck where they are or cant succeed and they become a selfish, materialistic person who is unable to do right by others. If we stopped worshipping the God's of this world, we'd have way more time to do right by others. Love and Light thats God and Christ I believe in the Holy Trinity God bless.

This is very important. As I first, for five years ago or more, read the first letters from the pupils to the Sent Out (apostles), I was greatly impressed over how incredible the Faith was in the Assembly of Yeshua. The true Faith is important to learn, and it comes from the first letters of the first generation of Christians, and was followed by honest men.
