You can get those games on the N64, GC, and Wii. It's a same damn games. People act like Switch released a new Mario game, but those are ported games. What's the difference? I know people will buy this, and sell this on Amazon and Ebay for $200-500, just like they did with the NES Classic Mini, and SNES Classic Mini. They know it's gonna be rare.

well it kinda does. When people are in a panic they will be more likely to do unreasonable things. Limit something and the more it will sell. They will most likely bring all three back but for 30-45$ each. They make a large amount of money from panic and still will make a large amount later.

Honestly if Nintendo strait up came out and said this and restocked stores like crazy, I'd be kinda ticked off because a lot of people rushed to buy this game because it really is a big deal and some of them probably aren't in the best place financially, and some ignorant parents will probably buy from scalpers thinking that's the only ways they can get it for their kids. But at the same time it'd also pit a little bit of a smile on my face because I'd know somewhere out there there are tons of scalpers who just bought like dozens of copies for this game and now they have to sell it for lower prices if they want any chance of getting rid of them

This is my guess. Probably make the 3 separate just slightly over the price of the retail game. For example, 64 priced $20, and Sunshine and Galaxy priced $25. This could work out better for a lot of people who may only be interested in owning 1 or 2 of the games, but slightly worse for people wanting all 3.. but let's be honest, the vast majority those people already have a switch, and will buy the collection long before it is pulled.

What is it that ruined it for you though? You are free to buy it anytime before March. If you can't find physical copies, it's still better to buy digital than overpay to buy from the scalpers. Plus every store in Canada I've checked still offering preorder

I know I'll be able to buy the game, and ultimately I might as hypocritical as that is, because I really want to experience the games and have no interest in emulation. The thing that upset my excitement was how baffling I found the decision to limit digital sales. If they clarified that the 35th bundle was limited, and all 3 games would be released separately for $20 each afterwards, then I could accept that.

There probably will be stock on launch day of the game at my local Toys R Us. People like forgetting that the store exists. (When I was trying to preorder the Switch for example, every store was sold out of preorders while Toys R Us only had one grey joycon model preordered so far. Took forever for them to fill up their preorder list too after the fact.)

They will have it part of their online service. They will add GB, GB color, GBA, DS, 3DS, N64, Gamecube, Wii, and Wii U games over time. Eventually every Nintendo game released will be available on their online service. Its basically Nintendo’s version of Xbox Game Pass. Over time every new generation’s games will be added. This is the most logical thing Nintendo will do. Fans get to play every game from all generations and no game will get left behind. I 100% would have a life long subscription to that

I’m not sure how DS 3ds and Wii U games would work with no second screen. But I would be down for it.

They are being very slow to add onto their online service but I do think every generation of games will be added in time. Nintendo has very little experience doing online service for their consoles so it will take time for them to figure out what they are doing

Seriously. Quality products does not automatically equal pro-consumer, and their Switch timeline has made that more evident than ever. They're not the richest company in Japan by coincidence or solely off making a couple good games per year.

@Fluffynator I was just pointing out some choices they did make that were weird not great, I was aware they brought Pikmin back. Dropping prices is not anti consumer, how can that be when that's a good thing for us. Devs have it hard man, they're underpaid but raising or dropping prices won't do much for them unfortunately. Some games on PS5 and Xbox are raising to 70 dollars...do you really think most of that money will go to devs? I'm sure the corporate people and suits will still leave with most of it. Game developers do the work but as you said, people will get thrown out. Nintendo online isn't always bad but when it is, it is. You may not have any bad experiences but you're not everyone and neither am I. But when I play Mario Kart the online is great, it never has been bad for me. Animal crossing, sure, it works, but when I play Smash Bros it's terrible most of the time, as a guy said, no dedicated servers. My friends have told me how Mario Maker 2 online is disappointing. And I was talking about how they handle online as a whole, no voice chat, not great game offerings, I can't even message my own friends. What's the point of adding friends online when I can't message or talk to them. The Wii U, hell the Wii had a better system. It sucks cause I love Nintendo, but sometimes they make silly decisions that make it hard. I voiced some of these things from when the switch came out and nothing has been done about the online stuff. A limited Mario game to encourage orders is a smart business move, but it sucks for the people who won't get to play it after it's gone.

@Fluffynator mmm yes, Miyamoto is underpaid for a game director, it's true but I'm talking about pure business people. Pleasing investors and dealing with the financial side of business. Those people will always get paid more than devs. Unfortunately in the real world, people who work the hardest don't always earn the most. The online thing isn't your fault or anyone elses. If you pay for it and works good for your games, then I'm happy for you, but yes, some games like smash, whether you or your opponent, friend, have good speeds, bad speeds, it's all the same bad usually. As for Nintendo when it comes to online stuff, they're just old fashioned I think. Yes Nintendo markets to kids sometimes but they're games are for everyone. Playstation and Xbox have kids too, they might not market a lot to them specifically always but still, thousands, maybe millions play there. Nintendo even goes hardest on parental controls, have parents use those. We can't message and I can do that on my 3DS. What if you meet someone who plays good online, helps you out and you want to keep playing, see how they are, say hi. You can't. I'm with you dude, I'm going hard on them but I love their games like everyone else, the 3D collection could have been better perhaps but I love that I can play Sunshine and Galaxy again, it's good for me. I'd like future owners to experience this too, but sadly we're not in charge. Nintendo makes some of the greatest experiences, but like you said, sometimes also makes the most confusing decisions.

That would be fine if the game was only limited in physical media. But the game is artificially limited to create fear of missing out. This is an abusive practice commonly used in gambling, to sway the addicts into spending massive amounts of money into a product that is not at all worth that price. There is literally nothing stopping Nintendo from keeping the game availiable in the eshop but their own greed.

Its just that out of Microsoft, Sony, and Them they are the most anti consumer out of the three. They do have their good pro consumer moments but most of the time they make decisions that hurt the consumers more than anything. This sounds plausible. It gives me a small amount of hope that we might potentially see a more complete Super Mario 64 Remaster in the near future. I will have to carry on dreaming for a full on Remake being the mascot Mario title of either the 4K Switch or the next console generation. Also, considering that this version of SM64 isn't going to be making any dramatic changes (upscaling and a few minor gameplay tweaks), is anyone else hoping for the ability to toggle on/off gimicks like CRT scan lines and the N64 blur effect for the sake of choice between authenticity and quality-of-life? Could be good if Nintendo released the N64 controller too, like they did the Gamecube controller for Smash Bros. Ultimate, but that's very unlikely for many reasons.

you shouldn't be happy about the FOMO. it's cool you got your copy when you did, but i took my time getting until December and was always intending on getting it digitally. (i have a 100 gb memory card and 3D Allstars is surprisingly just 4 gb for three fairly large games!) i bought the game because i wanted it, and i think it's a good collection despite what everyone else says, but i'm very disappointed Nintendo is making the DIGITAL release limited. it makes no sense. the physical one makes sense, that takes more resources and production, but digital? once it's on the store it's infinite. they would've still gotten their loads of scare money from the physical copies alone even if they kept the digital release up for sale! as much as i love Nintendo's games, their business decisions are starting to get very irritating and i don't know how to protest it.

When I put my physical preorders up for auction when physical copies are wiped off the planet 😎
