I don’t think the drop in players is due to town hall 15, it’s a minority of the playerbase that’s actually at that level. It’s probably due to other factors

as a town hall 10, the early release of town hall 16 has no effect on me edit: nvm there's a new building for town hall 8 and it looks really neat

TH15 could be fixed if they just nerfed the radius of the rage tower. Make it so that it would require buildings to be close together to be effective, but it would make the group vulnerable to zap quake.

I'm glad you talked about how difficult th15 is. As a maxed th15, I've had my armies destroyed by raged infernos and scattershots in seconds, it is insanely frustrating. I really hope the spell towers will get a nerf at some poing...

Truthfully, I think we are going to TH 16 sooner than later, is due to the fact the Halloween event was an enormous success. So with TH 16, they are going to let you merge units either permanently or temporarily to see what shakes loose and how it will change the game for the future. Just my thought. To be honest, there are a lot of troops that are not being used or that can handle the upper levels and they need to find a way to move troops out and place new ones in.

After this town hall 16 update they may release new townhall at every 24 month because releasing the townhalls between the year during tournaments may discourse some people from competing in tournaments. From this update they may release new townhall after the end of world championship and focus on new content between the new townhall 👍

The expanding team is definitely the primary reason for the "early" release. They've directly stated that they are trying to get more content released quicker, including builder hall, clan capital, and home village updates. This is definitely the start of a new era, barring any drastic changes to their current plans. After seeing all the sneak peeks, the only only thing that seems rushed has been the fact that theres no hero equipment for the royal champion. They made attacking stronger, lessened base clutter while maintaining defense viability, and added an all new mechanic in the hero equipment, usable as early as town hall 8. Seems like a W to me

I AGREE 100% TH15 is way to difficult. The monolith, Townhalls defense, and spell towers on their own can take out entire army if you don't take a freeze or skelton spell

Bruh I’m never going to catch up. I’m a TH15 with all my main defenses maxed and hero’s maxed but my archer towers, cannons, Teslas, mortars are all TH13/14. The extra 4 months would’ve been really nice. I wanted to go to legends league finally but It looks like I’ll have to wait another 2 years for that.

I think TH16 is coming out too early. SC should do some balancing to TH15 and get the 3 star % up a little for the avg player. I have heard from 100's of players that they wish they never upgraded to th15 because it's to hard.

Amazing video! I've been thinking this and agree with all your reasoning. Well thought out you've earned a sub. The townhalls getting higher add so many new tough defenses and troops that army composition becomes super tricky versus lower townhalls where it's much simpler and most players don't adapt to that very well in my opinion.

Take it from a guy who is maxed 15 and in high legends, at the higher lvls the meta changes about every month, new bases new strategies and th 15 isn’t necessarily that much harder than th14 and it was more interesting when they added the new defenses and the pros struggling can come from the fact they didn’t have time to adapt to everything else but they are surely back to their normal 3 staring everyone. It’s most likely the marketing thing you talked about Christmas is a good time to market a new th and the teams expansion helps them finish it faster

Good content. I'm an active clans player, clan leader and all, but I see many problems on the game, causing frustration. We should have more content addressing what's wrong with the game

Im at Town Hall 15 and im satisfied with it. It’s TH 14 that i really didnt like, just not my style. Plus plus, i might not get my 3 stars every time, but the loot is still really good. A challenge is always good. Thankfully since clash of clans already gave us enough buffs to progression

As someone who left the game for 7 years and came back 1 month ago and became new th11.. I can say it will be tuesday for me regardless th16 comes or not !!

Nice explanation and points . I believe this shorter timeperiod between townhalls is not just a 1 time thing , they are going to relseas the next townhall in a shorter time too now , because unlike the past , people are spending more time in games and the gaming world is just ever increasing .

It is true that th15 is very frustrating because of the spell towers, if it is not destroyed then it will have another spell cooking, we can counter monolith but not spell tower. For me TH 14 was the best because of balanced strategy, if i attacked 10 times i was sure that i could get 3 stars in min 5 attacks but now i am sure that i will get 2 stars in all 10 attacks

Great video! Probably combination of all the reasons you mentioned in the video. Plus now if the go back to the new th every 18 months they are gonna be updating th17 in summer of 2025. People have plenty time during summer to play but it could also lose intrest bc of people are maybe not plaing as actively during summer. Every 2 years around xmas would be kinda neat, but the lack of new homevillage content might be a problem. I myself liked being max at th15 but it does get boring after few months. Slower release time for new th would also allow more people to max and maybe focus more on the offensive side aka practice new attacks but yet again kinda boring if there is nothing else to do than CWL.

I agree! Even TH15 with max Th14 defenses on a well built layout is really hard to 3 star for us average players, i hope they balance it out next townhall

Funny thing is, a few months ago there was a teaser that hinted at a new town hall in April, which would go right with the 18 month timeline

Good news is that the subreddit mods played th16 early during clash fest and they said it is easier than the current th15. Th15 after the update will also probably be easier because it will not be the highest town hall so it wouldn’t make sense for it to be harder than th16. They also said everyone was really excited so I think it will be good

I think it all of the above that you mentioned, and though I love th15; I just wish they added more walls with a even bigger space to add more defenses. I’m excited for the new th, but i feel one of the merges of defenses will be fun for me.

I'm loving being at town hall 13, double upgrades on defenses with no real change in appearance is a little annoying but there so much more to the game/attacking than town hall 11 and below

I think they release it because of the money factor. Now is the perfect time since the game has a bit more hype due to world cup just ending and brining in more players and then with those Christmas offers they will earn more than normally if there's new town hall released.

As a free to play clasher, I have finished everything but still the pets aren't done, considering 5 levels were added to yak and lassi. I expected some rest but now I can't even finish the pets before new TH.

I think they simply are finished with everything for th 16. There would be no reason to wait another 4 months if everything is finished, because new changes for qol now can be directly regarded for this update. Otherwise they would need to recode everything in the th 16 update, which isn't worth it

The drop in players is due to a multitude of problems. 1.) The time to play the game...most people that play mobile games have 1 to 2 hours at most to play. It takes me 1 hour to cook a simple army & longer to wait for reinforcements. I am not waiting that long to play the game. Not to mention the fact we need to do 8 attacks in home base, raid attacks, and builder base attacks...Who has time for that in their busy world? 2.) The difficulty of TH15 has caused many strategies to be obsolete. Queen walk hybrid used to be such a fun strategy and if executed properly would 3 star. Try queen walking now with Monolith and spells and your Queen is gonna become decimated quickly. Thus the game becomes quickly boring with only 1 strategy working. It was so much more fun prior to TH15! The game was much more amazing & fun then. 3.) Unrealistic upgrade times. No one is waiting 1 month for an upgrade...I think the max upgrades should be is 7 max. 5 years to go from TH1 to TH15 is a heavy investment! No one is going to be committed that long for any game...

I think a drop in player base could be because people have maxed out, so they stop playing, or simply because life has taken over due to it being Christmas with irl sales and all the jazz. Personally, though th15 is great but I hate the spell tower defense. I'm in legend league and the amount of attacks that go so right and then a stupid spell tower does invis on the town hall and fks the entire attack up. Like yes you can get around the spell towers if you know what you're doing, but sometimes the troops don't target the tower fast enough or you simply can't get a troop to take it out...

I agree that it's a mix of 1 and 2. I became an esl player this past year, and I absolutely hate 15. I've hit some slumps, and the ones at 15 have just been insane. If you loose even a tiny bit of confidence, you're done for at least a month. I'm currently in one now, and it sucks. I absolutely can't wait for 16

I totally agree with you, special and specifically your first point, cuz as a th12 legends league player who was grinding and maxing on super scale, i would have to deal with almost all my attacks against th15, and i literally hated it... they'd come and crush me while I'd barely collect 7-10 stars... secondly I played coc since 2015, had multiple accounts and at this point in 2023, the game felt like too much, too complicated and a mess to be honest, you had to deal with a billion different things at the same time while managing time with real life activities so i basically quit and quit forever...

As a newer th15 im upset at the new release because i was so close to being maxed out after years of playing this game, i understand that it can get boring not having anything to do but my main issue is that i went into th15 in october expecting to max it before the realease of 16.

Monolith and spell towers were the most annoying addition to this game. Especially Monolith dealing same if not more dmg than single inferno and having bigger range. They need nerf in th16

I have 2 max 15s and have stopped playing… it is just too much of a commitment and as he said triples became so hard to get. I’ll see what 16 offers but it will have to be really good to make me return to the game.

If it were just about TH15 they would have addressed that. They're pushing things to get a revenue boost before year-end because their financials aren't so great for 2023 plus they hired a bunch of new people to have to pay for. I do agree with you that the TH15 problems are the cause, because it chased away players as you pointed out. But they were sticking to their 18-month plan as recently as last month (remember the goblin builder was supposed to run for 60 days and then it was suddenly shortened) so something much more pressing than TH15 issues caused this to happen so quickly. Maybe somebody in corporate got on their cases after seeing where the year-end numbers were headed.

TH16 1,1,2024 or Xmas? I am about 40% finished town hall 15 with almost all green walls and defences and offices are slowly being upgraded if TH16 comes out I will wait for a builder and go ahead with the upgrade. I hope that the team could have a 15% Tuesday or something else that would make this upgrade process not take forever for people who just want to get their base to max then get good. Even if some of them might be Free to Play or sponsored or someone who wants to play this game with only a certain town hall level or just rushed to maxed and having troubles getting back on their feet.

as a th13 about to be a th14 it is frustrating to me because I was hoping to at least be at th14 when it released so that I could get all of the hammer jam perks during the most expensive upgrades (eagle artillery, inferno tower, etc.)

In Judo interview with Darian, he did sau that the coc dev got some more staff so that's maybe why the release TH16 so early

I'm just an average player, I don't do a lot in the ways of strategies or worrying about how many stars I get, I go out for loot. The only money I spend is for gold pass and I was able to fully upgrade Town Hall 16 in a very quick time, except for my walls which took a little bit longer since they don't really matter at this level. I've been pretty bored the last 3 months because other than the new builder base there's nothing to do, and I don't really care about builder base. Some of my clanmates seem obsessed with clan Capital but I don't see what the hoopty do about that is either.

I'm just glad that as a th12, the upgrades will now cost less time to finish up when th16 is released.

I gave up on the game on december 2022 and started playing once again 2 weeks ago right on december, i think the game it self is a bit too hard to defeat and builder base 2.0 was not what i want i genuinely want BB 1.0 that might be why i gave up

as a pretty consistent player for over 10 years, it was probably because they all maxed for the first time ever. I had everything maxed for a few months before this update.

Th16 will come out after the hammer jam, the goblin builders (thank god), and the last th15 challenge. I predict this cause anytime there is a challenge about something once that challenge ends a new one is made.

As an almost maxed out th 15 (all max besides 3 upgrades in the lab), this update is a bit too soon for me, if it was in 2 months it would be perfect, builder hall 10 is still not maxed and it will get abandoned after th 16 comes out

The design hella turns me off for th16 i liked how every townhall we slowly and slowly get even more advanced even with th14 and its jungle theming it still remained pretty modern but th16 just straight up went back to the roman era, the defenses looks cool but the th with top view which is what we'll always be seeing looks pretty disappointing imo as well as the walls compared to its previous designs. That said there are absolutely a lot of amazing things coming in th16 that i can't wait about I'm just absolutely upset that, that's how it's going to look now for the entire game.

They need to fix the chat by adding a better way of using the keyboard in vertical orientation to type and to bring back the progress bars. Fix what we want before moving on to new game updates

I love Clash of Clans and reached TH 12 but I’m so busy with other games I tend to forget to login to the game. And or too busy with work and school. A lot of the younger generation is not playing clash of clans but rather clash Royale and brawl stars

I personally don't mind that TH16 is coming out this eary, but it really is a head scratcher as to why they did this. I can only assume that Clash of Clans will now have a New Update Motto of one Update for each Core gameplay every year: One Home Village (Usually a new Town Hall, finishing the Current highest Townhall or Major Balance changes along with reworks and new mechanics), New Builder Base Level (After the Builder Base 2.0, they said they want to expand on it and make it a Third Mode, and New Builder Hall levels might be the key), New Capital District (With New troops, New defense ideas that were cut from the other modes) and a Wild Card Update, which can be anything from Balance changes to all modes, Quality of Life features or hust an extra update to a mode that needed it. I do think that Once TH16 comes out, TH17 will be in Summer 2026, thus going back to their 18 Month Trend for town hall levels. They are most likely rescheduling the updates and to ensure this, they decided to release TH16 an Update Early instead of on time for Monetary and Business reasons. Overall, We still have to wait and the Update most likely comes out 5 Days (Once CWL Ends) and We will have to enjoy the sneak peeks we get starting tomorrow that will last to Friday.

I'm at TH15 max, been playing since 2015 and I can say that I've had the least amount of fun in the game since th15 was released for the exact reasons why you talked about. It's the first town hall where a 3 star is very rarely possible for average players. I went from being able to 3 star with good strategy and planning to almost never 3 starring no matter how much I planned. Now I'm satisfied if I get a 60-70% 2 star. I'd much rather play my th12/13/14 accounts.

I can testify that Th15 is absolutely my least favorite TH level.

I got 3 starred 2times, when i had upgrades going. I was ranked 642 in usa, & i had to study & practice. CANT WAIT FOR 16.

i’m not saying that supercell doesn’t want to make money (cause they do) buuuut sometime they say they don’t want to bring a new town hall in middle year or so cause for competitive players it will become a pay to win to max out their TH for the tournaments

Town Hall 15 is my favorite town hall and I haven’t even made it there. I love the design and the new defenses but going to Town Hall 15 means I’ll first have to go through TH 14 which I hate.

I think people started losing interest in the game and also the increase in the monthly Gold Pass especially if they have multiple accounts. I have 2 maxed TH 15 bases and got really bored of the game about 2 months ago. Was actually about to leave my clan and just stopped playing so will see what is in store for TH 16. Honestly a smart move for SC.

i think th15 was just not enough content , i upgraded to th 15 like 3 months to late and defensives like cannons , archer towers , mortars , wizzard towers , air defensives were still th 12 . But i still managed to get maxed besides a few traps , my last cannon finisched today. The rest is maxed out .

As a th 14 that Is going to 15 in a few weeks this update is good and bad. There's always both sides. But as I will say lower th players will be able to max faster which is good.

Maybe they add a new troop/spell or idk what in the update but make it available for th15 to fix the weak attacking Could be another reason for early release

I honestly don't like how they still keeping up the inferno defense with poison, I was hoping for something more unique and great in this TH's weapon.

I hope they include lot of QoL changes and optimise the game for casual players.

I was maxed th12 and got to th13 just a week ago. So im fine with them rushing th16. I mean im not even close there but this means that i can finish th13 earlier cause the Costa Reductions that come with a new townhall

Ive been playing Clash Of clans since late 2014 and the game has develope very well and ive NEVER quit or uninstall the game out of rage. Clash Royale in other hand ive quit it about 5 times. Makes you think which is the better game.

people just started to spend more money on the game so a lot of people upgraded buildings faster than usually, but after finishing... they stop paying money. so supercell just want to keep such people on the hook. its not about caring for average player ... its actually the opposite. i'm sure that in-game offers will became more expensive just as Gold Pass became.
