Yes, the Garmin GPS is king, but don't count out the value of having a telemetry collar in your toolbox!

I use a tracker maxima tracker along with my garmin.its a small handheld tracker but it's good for going thru thick brush when coon hunting

Sold my wildlife box with 216-217 and Johnson collars years ago wish I hadn’t specially since people are having trouble getting the gps ones right now

I still use mine I dont know how many times I've lost signal with my garmin it always save me.

Telemetry is line of sight. From the ground 6 miles is common. From the air it’s much further.

Why are the boxes so expensive more than the newest GPS?

They don’t have to be. I’d rather have a good GPS. I THINK you can have a safe and dependable box for not very much money. Jmo

Oh I’m sorry. I thought you were talking about dog boxes. Sorry. You can get a reliable tracking system used for very little. I don’t know why they are so expensive new.
