My tracking system as a kid was a bell. Tracking systems have created independent hounds because in my day we hunted multiple hounds to hear for distance.

Great video Sam and thank you for I have never seen hounds hunting before. I was wondering on an all day hunt when, do you feed them? Do you start the tracking with hungry hounds and feed them afterwards?

Any thought that maybe one day some company will "marry" technology and combine GPS and telemetry capabilities and essentially eliminating an extra collar? Do you ever have theft problems? Can a would be thief use a magnet to also deactivate a tracking collar to hide the location of a collar? Somewhat old school here, having lived in the rural south, fox- coyote hunting before the advent of pens. WE spent days and many hours looking for lost dogs on many occasions and would also sometimes put a clothing item at the casting site and the dogs would often return and wait . . . . Thanks for the video! I've noticed pet dogs wearing these tiny GPS trackers that connect to a phone application, and was wondering if they could be of any use to a hunter or a hiker. Any insights would be appreciated. What I figured out so far: -Battery life, depending on what setting you are using, could be 2-5 days. -The small size would be great for small dogs or for combining with other collars, though people complain they fall off easily. Might need a DIY to secure it properly. -They of course only work where there is reception. Personally, we're more or less always in areas with reception, but I imagine lots of people hunt where reception is a rarity. -There is a monthly fee, but not too pricey in my opinion. -They're a lot cheaper to buy than your standard GPS tracker. Edit: the biggest draw would perhaps be the range, since it's pretty much global (also depends on your subscription). So no fear about getting out of range.

Do you hunt bear with same dogs you hunt cats? If someone wanted to start running hounds what would you suggest on getting into hounds? How would you start puppies?

Using hunting dogs for hunting is not hunting .
