WHY THE ANC LOST THE 2024 ELECTION. THE MK PARTY & POSSIBLE SOUTH AFRICAN GOVERNMENT COALITIONS
South Africa's governing African National Congress (#ANC) has lost its parliamentary majority for the first time since the end of apartheid in 1994.
So what does this mean for Africa’s $400BN economic powerhouse and the continents most industrialized nation?
Well I’m going to get into that.
And were going to look at 3 things.
Why the ANC lost?
How JZ yet again showed his tactical prowess through the MK Party.
And lastly coalitions and what they could mean SA.
After three decades in power, the ANC-once a respected liberation organization deeply ingrained in South Africans’ hearts-has come to be associated with corruption and poor governance. On Wednesday the 29th May, It was penalized by the votes for this in SA’s 7th General Election.
The ANC reached its electoral peak in 2004 when it won 70% of the vote. But after that It lost support at around 3% or 4% in each election since then consistently. Until this last election.
To put it simply, it was a bloodbath.
In this election, the collapse in its vote was massive - a the ANC registered a drop of 16.8% which translated into 3,8million votes less, more than votes than the official opposition was able to get.
Which coalitions do you think will form in the next few days ?
