@@shaunaray1And he's the one getting all upset if anyone on his blog asks him how long for the next book (you know, the one that already took more time to write than any previous ones). Meanwhile the studio keeps him occupied with all kinds of spinoff series. He's either bored with the book series or simply lacks self discipline to keep on writing when the writing gets tough.

ghost wasn’t even at the battle of the bastards which angered me because he would’ve been such a great player in that battle and would be a great tell that “the starks have returned”

That battle was just a heavyly produced fanfic at best, such horrible writing and development just because they wanted a rohirin moment with the knights of the vale, like dude that battle was dumb as fuck I hated the show from then on, still watched all of it but such a disappointment and people praised them for that which is what resulted in the terrible finale, just re-watch that ep and tell me is not trash and super badly written

@@sirirond1990 this gives me a reality check about the show I didn't want to see... which for me, is a reoccurring theme for GoT. I loved battle of the bastards, but frick. Now I'm second guessing EVERYTHING. I need to read the damn books like yesterday.

@@earlyso_music of course you liked it, it's very well made, but the fact that you literally need to shut off your brain in order to enjoy it is a terrible thing, like remember blackwater siege? That thing was epic, and so well executed and written that you can re-watch it 100 times and you'll still enjoy it, now imagine if the battle of the bastarda was done well, what if everything that happened made sense and everyone acted like people instead of characters in a play? THAT would've been an episode or episodes for the ages! Sadly they dropped the ball and went for gratuitous spectacle instead

Ngl, when I saw Summer die, I just stared. As in, I just thought "No, they seriously didnt kill off Summer like that. Thatd be like if they treat Ned's death as unimportant and 'well, that happened'." Except it was playing in front of me, a scene that shouldve been at least nearly as impactful as Hodor's sacrifice and yet got treated as some background event

They also butchered Arya and Nymeria's reunion. The show had also skipped the Stark warging abilities (leaving it only to Bran). Arya was connected to Nymeria in the books, but as she wasn't a warg in the show, that reunion should've been 10 times more special. Nymeria should've bounded up to Arya to shown off her new family, and the whole lot of them should've returned to Winterfell.

I was severely disappointed about not getting Lady Stoneheart. I thought at the very least they could have shifted Arya to Lady Stoneheart, if they weren't going to add more magic.

And Jon's warging with Ghost is huge too. Makes him an exceptional ranger, and ties into his survival of being killed. His conciousness is being preserved in Ghost during his second life, so that he can be brought back hopefully with most of his sanity

I hated that when I started reading the books. Because the show would’ve been amazing had they kept the magical elements, and we see magic becoming stronger as the dragons grew. And you have Quathe contacting Dany in her dreams, and the glass candles are burning. Hell i would’ve loved to see the pyromancer and his burning rope ladder in Qarth. Part of me wants to see a song of ice and fire where D&D weren’t the show runners.

Odd. The beginning of the book literally showcases how magic (or at least the supernatural) will play a pivotal part in the books. There's no other way that chapter can be viewed. Everything suggests there is something coming that the average human won't be able to deal with, which would lead you to logically assume magic will play a big role in the books. Very odd reasoning from DnD.

@@tgiacin435depending on your age, you might see it eventually. Hollywood is out of ideas, and reboots and remakes have been their main fuel for years now... I truly think if GRRM ever actually finishes the source material, they will remake the main show very quickly. They know it will draw ratings, and a remake without D&D would even return lapsed fans who even boycotted HotD.

It's easier to suspend disbelief over a CGi dragon because there are no real dragons. However we all know what a wolf looks like, so if the CGI wolf looks off or moves weirdly, you are immediately taken out of the show. That's why the dire wolves were always real dogs/wolves that had been filmed separately and scaled up.

I love Ghost and all but I find it very shocking that his bother Summer died by 10 or less wights, whilst Ghost managed to survive hundreds of thousands of wights, undead giants and White Walkers, coming out with a few cuts and a missing ear

Ghost became more developed than the rest of the direwolves due to his years ranging north of the wall with Jon. He'd also fought white walkers since first arriving at the wall, so in essence, Ghost was a god among direwolves❤

Although i agree Ghost couldn't jave survived that battle, i also think he would fare better than any other wolf one on one as he had the hardest life of them all. Also he is the biggest of them all and a literal Ghost.😂

Honestly(in My own opinion) if they went the animation route, they could seriously expand the amount of content that would be cut for a live action show.

This is what I've been preaching😭 book adaptations should be animations instead of live actions, especially fantasy. There's just way too much they have to cut out cause cgi is expensive, they blow the whole budget on one really pretty or great scene and that's it for most series or films.

They did Nymeria so bad too. Nymeria after she was let loose by Arya she travel further north where she gather her own pack of hundreds of cousin wolves who tear through Lannisters men and Bolton even they try to have the hounds send after but they were fruitless. Also Nymeria fishes out Catelyn stark’a dead body and Arya can still warg into nymeria at night and see thought nymeria’s eyes. Not to mention that summer have sense his sister howling to the moon. Ghosts too. Even far apart they three can still bond through their wolves. A pack of hundreds of wolves lead by nymeria with Arya’s ability to warg into their leader and it wasn’t used.

Yeah, I felt like Ghost spent more time with Sam and the other brothers of the nights watch than with Jon Snow. That he wasn't with him during the battle of the bastards or by his side when he met Daenarys really frustrated me. Bran had no reaction to losing Summer even though they were supposed to be very closely bonded. Idk why they even showed Arya meeting Nymeria again, it was pointless since they did nothing with it. And the way they did Shaggy dog was dirty. It was all really disappointing.

Ghost in the books actually hated being social. He barely ever interacted with anyone other than Jon. Even on the expedition beyond the wall, he wandered alone to hunt and travelled away from the party throughout the trees.

Summers death pissed me off so much. He could've ran with them and made it! And the fact that Bran has no reaction to him OR his damn brothers death, is just so disappointing. All of those wolves deserved better And yes, I realize I may have gotten summers sex wrong. Maybe don't name a boy with a girls name 😂

But when Summer dies, Bran Stark is already dead, and the Raven lives again in his place. He's now an "evil" tree in service to The Children of the Forest.

Like perhaps showing off the parallel of Bran's direwolf, and his connection to his past life, dying with Summer and his eventual "rebirth" as the three eyed crow. You can't possibly look at the way the show treated Bran & Meera's relationship and tell me that it was satisfying in any way lol

There's a theory (with a lot of backing evidence) that they both warged into their wolves after being stabbed in the heart - might be how Jon comes back from the dead, as his soul would still be in Ghost's body. Considering GW was killed immediately after Robb himself, it could mean Robb died twice, the second time maybe after seeing Arya without any reason to believe she'd be safe from the massacre. As if that night wasn't shitty enough

Considering the very first chapter reveals John is a warg they are crazy important. Dan and Dave cut them to save bucks and do dragons so they didn’t need to or couldn’t write.

Nah, that fever dream of an interaction will be nothing like it was in the show when it finally happens in the books. Her arguments were self repeating and even contradicting, but I sure as hell didn't see Jon saying anything sensible either. Besides, Jon was there literally as a rebellious king who was stupid enough to demand her entire armies and dragons in exchange for some pats in the back xd I'd overall be VERY leery about how seriously one should take anything D&D wrote, especially past season 5. Both Jon and Daenerys were horrendously out of character in the throne room scene and the entire dialogue felt so wooden I actually almost felt like I had grown a peg leg.@@nobertmathonsi7317

I was very disappointed in how little they used the wolves too. Especially Ghost. I hope if they make the John Snow series that they use Ghost more in it. I loved the wolves. 😢

Ghost didn't die, but that shot of Jon leaving him behind to go south with Denaerys was worse. Even if he came back in the end, I never thought I'd be that disgusted with Jon Snow.

It was weird why they even gave Nymeria screen time in s7(?). That scene had to be mere fan service. I don't even understand what was going on with Ghost in the last season. First time we see him he's running alongside Dothraki into near-certain doom, then all of a sudden he's at the feast and I THINK he was with Jon at the end but the fact I'm not even certain about that says a lot.

You know i’ll still go back and rewatch the show because i like it, still a top 10 show, but after reading the books i really hope they do a remake or animation version because there is so much potential in the world of ice and fire.

I also rewatched and God it still holds up until season 3, I couldn't watch season 4 but I probably should, it just that they start the season with the sand snakes plot and shit that one sucks ass

I don’t see this happening until George actually finishes the books (or at least after his death when his notes are released). Don’t think they’ll be making the same mistake again. But it would be awsome seeing all the other expanded storylines such as lady stoneheart and Faegon… ugh an animation would be amazing. 12 seasons, 1 or 2 seasons a year 😍

@@joshuaadams6565 actually a remake of got would be a really good idea imo, the show firdt aired 10 years ago, they could try doing everything that was skipped so it's worth the watch for the old show enjoyers too, and the can even call it "a song of ice and fire" and be done with it, also doing the whole avaliable material would give George plenty of time to finish winds and dream

Ig they did it to save the budget. Because they knew that if a strong relationship with the direwolves were set up earlier on, they would have to keep it up for future seasons. They would need a huge amount of cgi to show the huge size of the grown up direwolves. This couldve affected the budget. So they wrote the direwolves out and shifted the focus to dragons.

Looks like I'm just as guilty of being annoying. I'll own it and learn from it. Honestly when I think of it, the writers should at least some of them be fans. I wonder if they are acting on the orders of the company or to "make their mark" on this. Regardless, if they had more episodes I think it would actually explain some of the weird aspects of the show that we are annoyed by. A lot of the filming gets edited out for time sake.

Dany had gone into full genocide mode. Ghost had just gone into battle and gotten mutilated for Jon. Basically every decision the writers made for Jon since the Battle of the Bastards had been literal character assassination, but that was the worst shit stain they put on him

I always thought the same thing about ghost being with John when he met Daenerys because it would’ve shown the more like two sides of a coin, one having control over fire and one having control over ice and when Drogon lets John touch him him having dominion over ghost would’ve been a little foreshadowing to her that there was something special about him besides him just being him

It wasn’t kazy writing that did the direwolves in. It was budget for the VFX. Despite the show’s popularity, they still had only so much budgeted that they had to choose between the wolves and the dragons.

They saved money for cgi dragons with little to no individual personality, then killed off Summer & Shaggydog, left Nymeria with a meaningless cameo and mutilated Ghost! They emotionally manipulated the audience by having Jon not say goodbye to Ghost when going to King’s Landing in season 8 just to “reunite” them at the end of the show!! 😠

Relegated... relegated to a background character. Aside from my unnecessarily anal highlight of an easily overlooked vocabulary error , love the content, bro. Your editing always i.presses me. I can only imagine the hundreds of photos and pictures you guys go through to find the particular choices you use. But yeah, your presentation is always top notch, narration is great, and your information is most always accurate. Which, with such a deep lore and so many moving parts, its near impossible to remember every segment of the story and het every little detail 100% correct. edit: on second thought, regulated is also an apt word to use. its not the word commonly used, but regulated is actually an interesting word to use, instead of using the same old saying, you added your own ingredient to the recipe.

Ghost not being right next to Jon when he met Daenerys will forever hurt…it would of been such a amazing scene. I wished the books would of been done first and then game of thrones happened.

The reason for the wolves not being present a lot of the time is due to production costs. After ethier season 1 and 2, the dogs are added in using vfx to portry their great size. In later seasons, with the dragons becoming fan favourites, the wolves were cast aside since they weren't as impressive and it saved time and money for production

just imagine if they instead decided to make the direwolves and the giants as prominent to the story as the dragons where. the Direwolves could have been the size of bears and Robb and Jon rode them into battle. Also Just imagine if more than just Wun-Wun had survived the battle at hardhome and Jon once he became king in the north ended up with Giants within his ranks. that would make Daenerys far more reluctant and more logical to distrust him once she lands in westeros only to learn that the king of the north has a bear sized Wolf and GIANTS among his ranks. it would have given the North their own Dragon countermeasure like Cersei with her scorpion balista. the show should have been far more balanced and not as one-sided as it ended up being. i can easily see Jon confidently telling Dany that her dragons could easily be shot out the sky by Giant archers. not to mention a scene with Jon and Dany riding on Ghost would have been just as cool and as fan servicey as the dragons. my point is if Dumb and dumber weren't so gunho about normifying GOT for a broader audience and applied the budget to more than just the flying scaly lizards then it would have been so much cooler. the show felt so barren and empty with just DRAGONS!!!.

This was an incredible let down. Ghost WAS John's northern blood coming through as a HUGE part of his connection to Ned and the Starks. Arya and Nymeria was barely an issue in the show, while Arya turning from her "Stark-ness" to be truly No One felt like it should have been a far larger role, like it was in the books. D & D were just the beginning of telling the fans to go fuck themselves 😔

Imagine how much more imposing Jon would have been to Daenerys, if when they met he had a snow white Direwolf beside him that is as big if not larger than him on 2 legs, and is half as tall as him on 4 legs, and it just follows him around by his side like a puppy. It would have been such a good conversation, with Jon having a literal Beast by his side that could tear through all the Unsullied in the room, but it just lays down next to his Father/Owner's feet

A hindrance that was phased out…much like how people started to view the huskies everyone just had to have because they looked like little wolves from the show. Now they are one of the most euthanized dogs in shelters since the show ended and people found out the issues that can come with novice ownership of the breed.

Well, working with animals is always difficult, and keeping up with growth and other factors could have easily bankrupted the show just on the dogs alone. Lassie was 9 different dogs over 30 years, but imagine trying to get 6 different dogs over the course of ten years, at different stages of growth. (not including size editing to make them dire wolves)

CGI would be more expensive too. Realistic fur takes time to animate while dragon scale texture could be rendered somewhat similarly to scenery surfaces, so I kinda get it. But do you remember back when the show was coming out? How exciting it was to just wait for the new season? No matter how long they took to film and edit and everything, viewers were patient. We put up with postponed releases. And the budget was gargantuan, the fact that the series is STILL HBO's biggest cash cow tells us everything we need to know. They could have managed it if they wanted to, just like everything else that went to shit because the writers didn't care enough.

I read this article that claimed the reason they were cut out mostly was due to the cost of the CGI. Apparently, the fur is super expensive to make. Though now that I think of it, this seems kind of stupid on a show that had such a high budget.

To me all this means is: when its a show as a opposed to a book you have to pick and choose what elements you want to have front and center and what elements in the books need to take a back seat. Television audiences arent like book readers, they dont do so well with a ton of characters and stories all at once.

Stray from the initial lore long enough for the ego of two decent but under equipped writers long enough, in a time limited medium, and don’t be surprised when many characters fall flat. Game of Thrones wasn’t written for the screen, it was adapted. Not enough time each episode to truly show the glory it could be without a budge that could alleviate world hunger.

I would have thought after Twilight and the Polar Bear in the Golden Vompass, the CGI for the wolves would be faultless. They should have been magnificent creatures, but most of the time just looked like normal size dogs
