We had some amazing feedback from the video where Vic shared which bike she had chosen as her first BIG BIKE.
A few of you were surprised by her choice, so we figured Vic could share the thought process that led her to this decision.
Thank you very much for your support and feedback, we really appreciate the connection with you all.

That’s a wise woman. Buy what feels right. Ride it and have a blast for 5000 miles or whatever and if you want something different after your skills improve or if you want to do a different style of riding, sell it and buy something else. I’ve owned six different bikes in the last nine years and loved them all. I like trying different things.

The CB650R is a Jekyll and Hyde motorcycle. It's smooth and friendly and easy to ride but then when you wanna have some fun on a twisty road you get the revs up into the powerband and it howls. I love mine. Such a good bike. The only thing I'm not in love with is the fuel consumption but it's not too bad and smiles per mile is high so it's a good trade-off. Also I noticed you saying you arent planning on going to a track. If you are new to motorcycling then I would highly recommend a novice track day with some training. Don't worry about "track skills", focus on "road skills". You can learn a lot about your bike and yourself when you have a safe environment to practice in. Just take it slow and after a few laps you will start to get comfortable and learn a lot of new skills with braking, cornering, line choice, acceleration, and about what you bike is capable of. The CB650R is a very capable bike on the track.

I shortlisted the 650 and previous generation street triple r for my first bike after passing my test last year. It came down to how I felt sitting on them both as I loved the looks of them for different reasons. I went with the R in the end. No regrets. Like you, I am not going after speed and adrenaline, but love that it has that capability. It was an incredible step up in power, quality and feel when I got out on the R the first time from only riding a Gladius I had done all my riding on to that point. Night and day difference. I know this will be all the bike I need for a long time as well. Happy riding both of you.

My wife has the 2022 650r and loves it. She started on a Ducati 400 scrambler and is finding the cb so much better. I’ve done the tail tidy for her, and swapped the bars for some with a little extra rise and sweep because at 5’4” she was finding it a bit tiring when touring for a week or more. Especially In mountainous regions with extended periods of tight downhill. I’ve also swapped the levers for some nice adjustable ones to suit her smaller lady hands. Congratulations on the bike. I’m sure you will love it as much as my wife does.

@@oneweekoutoftwo7173 I'd advise against a tail tidy. I had the CBR650R but it's the same rear end. I fitted a tail tidy, but I soon discovered the shortcomings. Not only does your back get covered in spray and muck from the road when it's wet, but if you look closely around the rear light cluster, there is a gap betwwen the seat and rear light that lets water gather under the seat where all the electrics are housed. It gets drenched in there. I didn't think that was good for for the bike, so I put the original rear end back. There may be a solution out there I'm not aware of when you fit a tail tidy to prevent the ingress of water, but it was a real concern I had at the time. It is a nice bike though, and a great, fun machine.

I found the 650 so difficult to pull away from traffic lights without the revs pinging up to 5k before the clutch matched. I found a 1000cc the cb1000r to actually be easier to ride slow through town than the 650. But price and insurance is very different

Thank you for sharing. It's true that low capacity four cylinders need to be revved a bit more to get off the line. This is, in part, what we were looking for. Our 11bhp 125cc wasn't quick off thebline either. In fact, it wasn't quick anywhere. The CB 650R is a step up and seemed to be the logical next bike here. We shall look into the CB1000R then 😉

I had both the Honda was sooooo easy to ride and manouvre. Honda Seemed to not be perfect with the gear shifting had 1/100 false neutral or whatever. My street triple was the S. it was a nice fast great sounding bike, out the box it had a nice sound from stock. I missed the slipper clutch initially and had a few stalls - but soon improved. I’d have a street triple one day, but the ninja 1000 sx is so perfect for me I’m on a second one! All Nikes are great, enjoy the journey !!!

That's odd. I pull away at 2k rpm with ease, every time. Only need more revs when stopped on an uphill incline- but even then I'm going to maybe 3k rpm. I've never launched anywhere near 5k.

She was riding a Bullit Hero 125. We tried by trying the Royal Enfield Hunter and Meteor. They were a little small for Vic (5'9). Then we tried the Triumph Trident, Street Triple RS, Street Triple R, and then Honda Hornet and CB650R Advice would be to book all the test rides you can. What we learned is that between what looks good, what feels good once on it in the showroom, and how they feel when you ride them can be worlds apart.

I drive a Street Triple and I'm pretty sure the Honda is a more versatile and "all-rounded" bike than this hooligan on wheels of a bike. Very tempted by it. Also I believe there is a big price difference, with the CB competing more with the quite likable Street 660 S
