The type you have are called Fonts. They are used in printing presses. For printing stationary, business cards, tickets for raffles etc. Yes it was and old style printing presses before rotogrevier and before computers. I used that type of press I even had a hand press years ago then I got into flexopress which is rotogrevier, which started out with rubber plates. They now make and use syrell plates, I use the lead type still in my leather craft.

My dad owned this machine and used it to stamp his photography logo onto leather bound photo albums.

I'm looking at getting an embossing machine and I like the Kingsley. I happen to be a machinist and can make those holders. LMK if you're still in need of some, if I end up making some I can make some extras.

I truly do not intend to be rude, but there is a lot about this machine that you don't seem to know. So you realize you are missing parts that hold the foil and advances the foil every time you make an impression. You are not supposed to cut off a piece of foil and stick it under the hot die with your fingers. Also, there are different types of boards (rubber, plastic & cardboard etc) available to put under whatever material you are stamping to increase the quality of the impression. The boards also protect the type from being damaged from hitting the base plate. If you do not get a clean & crisp impression, regardless of the type size, it is because you are not doing it correctly. The main cause of such issues is the temperature. You should start at 250 degrees and adjust from there. You can use a rubber cement pickup to clean up impressions of excess foil. Here is the big surprise, you obviously do not have the part that was made for the machine that is meant to hold down leather goods. Ever wondered what that chrome piece screwed on the side of the machine, just opposite the handle, is for? Well that is where you clamp the part for holding leather goods. For your reference it is called a leather goods clamp. I hope this will help you enjoy your Kingsley more and good luck with your leather craft business. One last thing. I noticed you seem to like the gold foil. You can use 24kt gold leaf to stamp on leather as well. Kingsley did make some, but I do not know it you can use the gold leaf you can buy at craft stores. But I don't see why it would not work.

Do you have a recommendation for a font that would match what you typically see as Holy Bible on the front of a Bible?

I'm not sure where one is supposed to get this machine... Any decent ones are $1000+. I'd rather get a brand new Metallic Elephant.
