Finally, someone is speaking out about this. I own a G21, I bought a maxshine m15 pro to try and save money and so I can have a 21 and 15 mm throw. After a week of use at my body shop, I became so frustrated, that I returned it that same day. Got a G15 and never looked back. Rules mkIII's and the Griot's boss polishers are simply amazing. I can't wait for that new polisher yvann show cased that is an all in one machine. Hope you are doing well Joe, stay safe and stay sane brother.

Hi Joe, credit where its due, a great review, Thank You. Even though I would not consider myself as a 'Pro Detailer' only a RTA (road traffic accident) & its knock-on effects has kept a polishing machine out of my hands for more than a couple of days at a time over the last 12 years. Only now have I got the opportunity to do my own vehicles, but tomorrow that could all change so having alternatives/replacements should my Go-To weapons of choice fail (or one of my son's decide they need my machines more than I do, yes this is not a once in a blue moon event as one of them is currently in the transition stages of going pro) I need back up machines & had already earmarked the M15Pro as a suitable back up for my Rupes given all the exposure it has currently has from Pro's & Amateur's alike. I have now canned that idea & will invest in new Rupes & Festools which will become my GoTo's & rest my current machines for back ups as & when. Again, huge thanks !!

Man I’ve been out of the game for years. I just bought a new truck and want to keep it perfect. It used to just be Makita, DeWalt, and porter cable. I used to love using DA’s because they never swirled. I start looking now to buy something new but there are so many it makes my head spin. I don’t really need much correction yet, but can you recommend a simple clean/correct, polish/glaze, and wax/seal combo? It would be nice to just pick 1 polisher and a simple 2-3 stage system and stick to it without spending a crazy amount of money. I was considering Griots g9 kit with their compound/polish combo, it it good stuff?Please let me know what you think , thank you

Joe, Mike Phillips did a video a few days ago about doing production polishing in 1 hour. In the video he explained that forced rotation is the way to go because they never stall and you can apply a lot of pressure to get a lot of correction done. Like you I am a long throw guy. I have a Rupes 21 and and a Griot's 15mm as well as my 10mm Torq and my 8 mm Porter Cable and Meguire machines. I am seriously thinking about getting a Flex Forced rotation, have you tried one?

Have you tried the 5in backing plate on your boss G21? How do you like it if you’ve tried it?
@NextLevelAutoDetail
@NextLevelAutoDetail 4 жыл бұрын
lime2010 absolutely. I have a specific g21 with a designated 5 inch plate. With every advantage comes disadvantages. It causes excess vibration compared to the 6 inch plate. It also puts a lot of stress on the pads by the increased OPMS from the smaller backing plate. A lot more heat is introduced. I still prefer my 6 inch plate on the g21 but in the areas I need a smaller pad I use it often. It enhances the cut but the drawbacks are obvious from what I mentioned above. It’s not as smooth and puts a tremendous amount of stress on the pads. Swapping pads more frequently is certainly required to extend the life of your pads.

So, what about using a different assortment of pads? Example, I have the Adam's mini swirl killer. LC Force orange pads, it stalls alot. Switch to let's say the oberk yellow pad, less stalling.
@NextLevelAutoDetail
@NextLevelAutoDetail 4 жыл бұрын
DjBann great point and this is true with any machine. Different pad profiles offer different advantages in certain areas. Thicker pads will always provide more adaptability in those areas against low profile pads. However thicker pads lose that advantage on flat areas as they retain a lot of heat and become topsy turvy when it loads with product. Especially using them on a long throw machine they retain a lot of heat due to the large distance it travels. The maxshine does perform a little better with foam pads as far as pad stall goes. When you are trying to remove heavy defects and get the best result a microfiber cutting pad is always going to be your best choice and the machine struggles with it. That is why in the video I talk about how the maxshine is more of a “polisher” like a finishing tool I wouldn’t want to use it for heavy defect removal. In open panels it works ok but the slightest curve it struggles heavily. That is why I would actually prefer cutting with the griots 6” verse the m15. Good insight.

I had issues with stalling when I first got my M15 pro, after installing a griots backing plate with a washer I haven't had any issues even with mf pads and heavy compounds. More vibration than my rupes but it was half the price so not really an apples to apples comparison.

I do paint correction literally 10-15 hours a day 6 days a week with thousands of hours on my polishers. And while I love a lot of griots products their polishers and pads are some of the worst things I’ve used. So much vibration and just an inferior product compared with any Rupes or Flex. I’ve got a g21 and g15. They’re powerful but the vibration I just cannot handle even with anti vibration gloves. 1 high end paint correction session should pay for any premium polisher you could dream of, don’t cheap out and risk potential nerve damage on your hands if you intend on doing more than the occasional job here and there.
@Calendyr
@Calendyr 4 жыл бұрын
Completely agree with you. I noticed that on the G15 too... but for me, the tool staling on most panels was the major issue. I have heard that the Flex forced rotation what also hard on tjhe hands, what was your experience with it on that aspect?
@NextLevelAutoDetail
@NextLevelAutoDetail 3 жыл бұрын
Calendyr the flex is the hardest on the body of all machine polishers. It DEMANDS constant 10-12 lbs of downward pressure at all times. If you aren’t applying pressure on a 8mm da you are going no where fast. What a lot of people don’t realize is that a porter cable (also 8mm) actually has more OPMS than a 3401. On a open panel the porter cable will out rotate a flex 3401. The forced driven action limits the overall OPMS when you compare that to free spinning. The only advantage the flex has Over all DAs is that it won’t stall it curves/contours. But the flex by far is the hardest on the body. A phenomenal tool however.

I figured my MaxShine machine out. I've had for a while now as well and seen the exact same things. 1. They don't like certain pads, combine that with aggressive polish and it won't cut at all. 2. Once you install the washer mod it ( depending on how many washers ) changes the balance of the machine and can be utterly frustrating. 3. I figured out how to keep it balanced with lower profile pads like the urofiber 50/50 the machine can get it done. Other heavier cutting pads ( microfiber types they can't. And they struggle ) hence lower cutting pads with slightly more aggressive polish and I've figured out how to get it done. But to the point a lot ansi mean a lot of ppl don't even know the machine is stalling. I have to agree with your assessment

Proof that you did not watch all of the video. That is exactly the point. The 21 should be more prone to stalling due to the larger orbit and larger pad size. The 15 should be putting out more OPMS than a 21 because it is traveling 6mm less distance. Meaning it SHOULD PERFORM EVEN BETTER IN TIGHTER AREAS than a 21. That is exactly the point. The Boss 15 or Rupes Mark 2-3 has no problems in those areas. The machine is weak and lacks power. So that is exactly why I used the 21 because everybody loves this 15mm because it’s so “versatile” yet a machine with a larger orbit and a 6.5 inch pad didn’t stall once in that same area.

hakman239 your missing the entire point. What don’t you understand that if a 21mm Boss with a 6.5 inch pad didn’t stall in that area (it should be more prone to stalling due to the larger orbit and pad size) if the boss 21 didn’t stall in that area what makes you think a rupes Mark 2 15 or a boss 15 would stall ? Lol. That was to showcase the power of a real tool. The 21 is supposed to have a DISADVANTAGE in that area and it still crushed the 15. If the 21 didn’t stall in that area a mark 2 15 or a boss 15 isn’t going to stall either. Using the 21 was supposed to give the 15 an advantage. I understand your point. Compare a 15 to a 15 that makes sense. But I used the 21 to showcase how much power it really has being that it should struggle in those tighter areas. That’s all I hope you understand my thought process now.

It is over hyped by you tubers that are more than likely getting paid to endorse them. I don’t have a problem with pad stall at all. Only when I used the maxshine m15.
