Well done, good buy. I own a limousine company in Australian. 30 years of experience talks with respect to everyone reading this message. Audi A8, Mercedes S class , Bentley flying Spur and rolls Royce ghost or Phantom, SECOND HAND, stay right away from it, they all have faults and are expensive to run. Other than mileage the years can make a lot of components go brittle. Be prepared that just with soft driving and servicing it yourself you cannot avoid costs.the worst is the Audi A8. Great video and respect to all, enjoy the 500!

@@jjohnson9822 Very high mileage for genesis. Don’t touch it and you own a limo company, don’t. Clients can read and feel that mileage in the vehicles. Lexus IS reliable, any new saloon S class or the 7 series at best get rid of it 150,000 ks. Until then make your money with high ticket clients. All cars high end are expensive to repair and replace.5 series diesel is also a good vehicle and capable of 250,000 ks easily.

"They all have faults" I have to disagree sir. Maybe Euro spec and AU spec are different, but here in Europe i've seen well maintained Mercedes S classes (W222) with 300.000 kms. Of course, it has a lot of components that can break, but as long the engine is well maintained that will save you the biggest expenses like engine rebuilds due to the nano coating degrading in the cylinder walls for example.

You just have to know ppl with the equipment to fix em. And there alot of ppl that do. To answer your questiom, most warranties you're gonna find cover powertrain. If it's well maintained you have nothing to worry about. Of course cars like these have a lot of sensors that can break, but that's not that big of a deal. A well maintained one will get you to 200k in the best comfort for your bucks.
@turnne
@turnne Жыл бұрын
@@RS1Interviews Hmm...I have seen " well maintained" ones have issues...typically electrical/sensor related that are thousands of dollars and the other issue I have is that the mentality at the Mercedes dealer is just to keep throwing parts at it until its fixed. Its hard to find an independent shop that has all the diagnostic equipment to work on these past the more basic maintenance. Certain things that really concern me are this " hot V" configuration of where the turbos sit. First off if that needs to be disassembled to get to a sensor it will be thousands in just labor. Secondly, long term I question the logic to place those there due to the heat There is a reason why the resale drops so quickly on these against say something like a Lexus LS at 5-7 years old
@RS1Interviews
@RS1Interviews Жыл бұрын
@turnne This car does not have the engine with the hot V configuration. It has the M278 4.8L engine, and the turbos are fitted directly on to the exhaust port, meaning they are on the sides of the engine. You are referring to the M178 4.0L engine, which is the first with this hot V configuration. I'm literally reading it on the Mercedes website "First sport car engine with 'hot inside V' and dry sump-lubrication". Look up "2015 Mercedes S550 review... 150K miles later". It's not that big of a nightmare people say it is.

INVEST IN ETERNITY. JESUS CHRIST shed HIS BLOOD and DIED for OUR SINS so we can be saved. We humans are imperfect sinners. We hurt others and do things that we ourselves know are wrong and regret. The punishment for our sins is death and hell. And we can't save ourselves. But God so loved the world, that he sent Jesus to die for our sins to receive the punishment that we deserve. Why the Mercedes Benz S550 Is the Best Car Under $40,000...When it's working. Mercedes builds these cars to last (mostly) through a 3 year lease. Even then, they're not especially reliable. Off warranty, the maintenance and parts cost is astronomical, as multiple systems are engineered to fail within 5 years. If you can get a full warranty on one, than you can consider it, but it's a big risk. Off warranty, than no way. There's a reason that they depreciate 90% in 3 years.

Nope, sorry. I beg to differ; a used S550 is not the best used luxury car to buy under $40000. A '15 S class has no warranty left, and as everyone reading this probably knows, is very expensive to fix and maintain (as are all luxury cars these days). There's no way I would buy a car with that level of technology without a warranty. Because they didn't listen to their guidance counselor in high school who recommended attending medical or law school or getting an electronic engineering degree instead of one in art history, environmental studies, or teaching, the reason people buy used luxury cars is to save money. Just as an example, when the A.S.S. (Active Suspension System) on your 7 year old S550 takes a crap (and it will), you're looking at almost 5 large to replace the shocks, control module, and compresser. That's not my idea of saving money. I bought a Certified Pre-owned 2018 Genesis G90 AWD 3.3 liter twin turbo engine in May of 2021. You Merc fanatics may disagree, but for me the G90 is 85% of the car that an S Class is at 50% of the price. Yes, it's a glorified Hyundai, it only has 365 h.p./ 376 ft. lbs. of torque versus the 550's 449 h.p./516 ft. lbs., and it doesn't message my sacroiliac, spritz perfume at my nose, allow my eyes to see a mile ahead in the dead of night, or let me electronically adjust the degree of sunroof shade, but it's still a very nice ride, and my bank account tells me I made a good decision. The list price of the 2018 G90 was $71850, but I bought it 3 years old and with 24,000 miles for $37300 just before used car prices went bat-shit crazy. The real salsa on the enchilada is Genesis's 5 years/60,000 mile bumper-to-bumper, and 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranties. My car had 24 months and 36 k miles of bumper-to-bumper warranty remaining when I bought it, but the CPO designation extends that warranty 12 months and 15,000 miles for a total of 72 months/ 75000 miles. And then don't forget the Genesis powertrain warranty. It's 10 years/100000 miles for the original owner, but is reduced to 5 years/ 60000 miles for subsequent owners. However, the CPO designation extends the powertrain warranty back to the original 10 yrs/10 k miles for the second owner. So I bought a 3 year old car with 36 months and 51 thousand miles of B2B warranty, and 64 months, and 76,000 miles of powertrain warranty remaining, almost as much as Mercedes' original owner warranty (48 months/50,000 miles for both bumper-to-bumper and powertrain). So if you want to drive like a pasha but have a serf's budget, a CPO Genesis is the way to go.

Hey clueless IDIOT. Listen carefully, fool. 1. Obviously you have NEVER owned an S class NOR any other vehicle that represents AUTOMOTIVE GREATNESS. 2. NO, you are NOT buying a $100,000 vehicle. You are buying a vehicle that sold for $100,000 NEW, and THIS MEANS this is far MORE $ in 2022 worthless Idiot Joe Biden Dollars you got in your pocket. 3. NO, You DAMNED, CLUELESS FOOL, there are NO CHANCES that you will EVER end up spending $60,000 to fix it, unless you were a clueless idiot like YOURSELF and you ABUSED IT. 4. Unlike you, I speak from CONSIDERABLE experience. Mercedes sedans are probably the best kept Secret. While the conventional wisdom is that Lexus (glorified Camrys) are very reliable, my two Mercedes sedans, bought in 2016 and 2017, with guarantees, plenty of miles, and IMMACULATE, 2007 and 2008 models, that I drive continuously until today, have been THE MOST RELIABLE CARS I HAVE EVER OWNED, and I have owned PLENTY of GREAT cars, from Hondas to 7 Series BMWs, the BEAUTIFUL One, a 1998 740iL, which I owned from 2005 to 2017. So STICK TO YOUR FUGLY, STUPID TRUCKS and DO NOT TAKE the LEGENDARY Mercedes name in your foul mouth in vain!
