Seasoned divorce lawyer here. Just my two cents. If you get a whiff of narcissistic personality disorder, RUN. DO NOT MARRY. You can’t imagine the destruction I see everyday in divorce court. Stay safe. Trust your gut. Keep strong boundaries. Great video!!

The worst part of being raised by a narcissistic parent, is that you grow up believing you are not worthy of respect. Then when you venture into the dating world, you are a target for other narcs... you are used to that kind of abuse and you think it's normal. It took me years to break that cycle. Thank God.

Oh wow, sounds like me. I am nearly 40 and still keep meeting narcs. My late mum was incredibly abusive to me. I was physically abused as a child and then as an adult emotionally.

It’s a lose lose situation. If you give into the narcissist, they think you’re weak & they lose respect. If you put your foot down and not be a doormat they won’t like that either and they’ll try harder to gain control. It’s always 100% about themselves. The only way to be safe is to avoid them as much as possible. When you see crazy coming, cross the street!

Fact! Narcissist know how powerful you are according to what you do, so they are motivated to manipulate to get what they want from you, or if you don't comply they work hard to take what they want. Usually the target has a do whatever it takes type mindset and the narcissist IS the polar opposite---just the motivation is different.

Hi Andrew, My long time relationship with a Narcissist is over. He never respected me. He was a liar, and a cheat, he talked about me to his friends, I think that bothered me the most, I thought how could you talk about me like that. I asked him, at first he denied it, later he would admit to it. I wish the relationship had ended sooner, than later. Anyway getting away from him is the best thing I could of done.

When your in any type of a relationship and someone is always talking about you to associates, friends, family....there is a hate brewing because of something they thought they were entitled too. No one is always talking about someone in a bad light. Or they are just using you to get attention in any manner thats works for their benefit. I know it sounds sick, but ppl do this to feel important.

Thank you so much for this! I have been abused by narcissists MY ENTIRE LIFE and this last one wasn't even someone I knew! It is very easy after a LIFETIME of being disregarded, disrespected, smeared, dismissed, gaslit, robbed, denied needs, and emotionally eviscerated for the jollies of others to just want to throw your hands up and give up on life itself. These people are MONSTERS AND THEY ARE EVERYWHERE. Your words help me to put a LIFETIME of suffering and loss due to the selfishness of others into a much more positive framework for moving on.

Was in a one sided karmic narcissistic relationship for 45yrs ,too was too stubborn so the Divine flicked the switch and my intuition kicked in ,that was 3yrs ago , been on a spiritual journey, which coincides with my religious believes never looked back ,experienced smear campaining ,but my faith is strong ,I knew the Divine would vindicate me .God Bless lots of your videos I can relate to going through the same experiences as I watch them ,I set my ex free 3 yrs ago ,life's been so much happier and peaceful connecting back with my family ☺️

Constantly trying to Hoover, triangulate me, emotionally unavailable, sound of crickets if you want to address a big concern, ghosting, stonewalling, gaslit, secretive, wore a mask, controlled when, where, how, guarded phone like a dog with a bone and absolutely no remorse or appoligies. The narcissist I encountered walked around like the ‘Emperor With No Clothes’-arrogant, entitled, I was ignored and looked down up most of the time, I was treated like a lowly servant. Just awful. How poor his self-esteem must be to have to stand on my shoulders to feel better about himself. It took a while, and your videos Andrew, to help me see if for what it was-narcissist abuse. I am laughing! That's how my ex acted after 24 years of not speaking to me....at our sons wedding! Not speaking to me when he was angry was how he would punish me when we were married. Lol. I had told my son before the wedding that I would be cordial. I'm happily married and your Dad is remarried....I have no problem speaking to him. Well, when he walked in our son's house for a night before celebration, I was going to say Hi and he turned his head as he walked in with his wife and sat in the other room with his back to us.🤣 I felt bad for my daughter in law and her family. It was awkward but I was afraid if I went out of my way to speak, he might cause a scene. So, we had a good time with everyone else.

I have a narcissist ex, whom I have not seen or talked to in over three years, and who STILL sends me slightly snippy texts. I have him blocked, but I can see when he calls and sends texts. He sounds like a fifth-grader, which is almost embarrassing to me - how on earth did I ever think of someone highly who is no older than a fifth-grader! It always blows my mind. But he has no effect on me and hasn't for all these years. After I ended it with him, I realized five of my siblings were also narcissists, as was my mother. If it wasn't for the ex that I dated, his weird behavior (we only dated for a short time because he would not respect my boundaries), but he did send me looking for answers on such odd behaviors, like ghosting, silent treatment, thinking he had some secret life, etc. that I came across all the information on narcissism. Then I began to understand I had grown up with it, so I attract it - and need to be careful about anything I do that's narcissistic. So I continue learning. yep they really do spin a sob story when they come back for seconds. i had lost my dad just before i first met him and he ended things very suddenly and cruelly to get with his newest supply. I stupidly met up with him 4 years later in a cafe where he spun his sob story about how his step dad had since died and how it was awful for him. funnily enough there was a slightly unhinged older lady in the cafe who had overheard it all and she butted in and said “is that your excuse of a sob story? be very careful of him young lady, you’re too good for him and he will treat you like crap”. i felt bad for him and gave him the second chance, and sure enough he chewed me up and spat me out again. I should have listened to the old lady!

Thank you for always being gentle in your delivery of these harsh truths. It’s devastating to have lived decades under various narcissistic abusers because I simply did not have this knowledge. As for no respect? The last thing my former faux husband said when caught in a bold set of lies along with sneaking around sexually cheating during the height of the pandemic was, “I’m sorry I couldn’t abide by your wishes.” That was the end. Lack of respect was perhaps the most unsettling part of the relationship with the narcissist. It formed the basis for all others negative behaviors exhibited. A relationship is just not sustainable under these circumstances and without this basic tenet (respect). And, they KNOW they’re doing it; don’t EVER doubt that fact. Why subject yourself to such crappy treatment?!? Self-respect & boundaries are the answer. Anyway, happy to be out of the situation. 😰🤯🥺

Gemini Dream... Everything happends for a reason and at the right time!! The Universe only throws an obstacle in your path when it knows you are ready to overcome it!! Don t be sorry for nothing...like Andrew says, and very well...it was not your fault...you were loving...but you were being manipulated!! But now you know!! All that!! And know you are back on your path!! It hurts...a lot...and there is more pain ahead!! Finding out that what you tought was love was nothing like that!!it hurts!! I was in a 2 and half years relation with a woman to whom i loved like no one before!! When her mask felt...it all came together!! Tryed everything to make it work!! But i was being discarted for a couple of months!! And nothing i could come up with, would have worked!! I was a tool!! I finally saw it!! And it got mote excruciating... Because after i left...it was 7 long months of crying, reliving backwords every second of the relationship!! So i came across Andrew and a couple more sources of education about narcissists and it started my conscious healing process (that actually had started the moment i had the courage to leave her)...!! And in that process of reliving the relation in my mind, the puzzle pieces got together!! And you know what!? All those discussions and fights we had, that sometimes made me stop and think... Was it me my fault!!?? No...!! I was giving...all my being, my effort, my best!! My time, my love!! And all i was getting back, was a performance!! When i left...going trough all that crying and anguish of loss, i went trough a moment of anger, vengeance even!! And i investigated a bit!! Only to find out, even then, she always had other sources of supply!! Old boyfriends she kept in touch!! Subtile things in social media... Even was able to find out that, over our relation she bedded 2 guys!! And that was the moment for me!! That made me see...she was the problem!! And altough it gave me the strenght to raise myself...it still hurts...because i was really in love!! Still can t take out of my head when we were making love and she asked me, "dared" me to make a baby, knowing it was my biggest dream!! 3 days latter she bedded 1st guy!! Still bleads...last hole in my heart...full of scars!! But enough of me!! Its not a linear thing or the same for us all!! And if the Universe tought you needed 3 times around...it doesn t matter...!! You are here now!! You know now!! You are getting educated about narcissists!! You know better now!! And like Andrew said... You are free...and now its about you...you...and you!! Someone who loved me so deeply I could feel it! I didn't care about piles money or fancy houses, cars, all I wanted was love that was as deep as mine is and that cost nothing. Got cheated on by more than 2, from both previous husbands oh an I forgot, my very first love as well. I'm not sure about the one I'm in a marriage with now, but I have my suspicions. I'm trapped now because he got really sick and being the idiot I am, I can't walk out on someone that's ill even though I feel like a roommate, not a wife. The universe has never been kind, never! Had a horrific abusive childhood, jumped straight into a horrible marriage. I had a child when I wasn't ready but he knew it would keep me from chasing after him when he didn't come home all night. These bastards/bitches use children like clubs! She probably thought you were going to leave which is why all of a sudden she wanted a child, to hold you in the relationship! That's also probably why she went bedhopping to make it happen fast. I don't know how anyone could use a child, a gift of love of two or it's supposed to be. And marriage is supposed to be for life in my opinion. Was I ever wrong!

Yet another superb video, Andrew. Thank you. My malignant narcissistic mother would ALWAYS delay responding to a text or email. She's been retired for 20 years, does nothing all day, and she never promptly returned nice, sweet emails or texts. After I didn't travel to see her recently, I was yet again 'ghosted,' even after multiple nice emails. That's when I found your videos, as I was trying to understand why this person, my own mother, was constantly doing this passive aggressive shit against me. Of the nine characteristics (five and you're a definitional "narcissist,") my mother clocks in at a solid seven. Zero compassion; no empathy; manipulative; disloyal; duplicitious. She's probably a sociopath. But I am done with her. It's been about a month since I wrote her off. Honestly, I feel great. I'm sure I have been written out of the will, but I'll take that, rather than be in her orbit any longer. I don't even want to punish her. I just want to go forward without this person in my life at all. Thanks again.

@@denisguay4315 You stay strong, too. I am somewhat embarrassed it took me 51 years to 'write her off,' but I still have a few years left. I feel better each day. Residual anger and bitterness still crop up occasionally, but, overall, I've felt quite positive and liberated with the freedom from my mother, a truly mean, spiteful, toxic individual. And, yes, the videos do help considerably. I have found it reassuring that I'm not imagining this; that the narcissist is a personality type, with specific characteristics and behaviors. Andrew has described my mother to a 'T' in his videos. Take care and thank you for the thoughts.

No forgiveness. It ended in DV charges and an order of protection. He will never come near me again. ....and it is surely driving him crazy. He sees himself as the victim. The Narc respect me? ..... no way. It was all about him. There was no talking things out. It was his way, or no way and then he would say hit the highway- get out.... I want a divorce. I was called every name in the book, then at bedtime I was expected to be ready...ugh..... Yes, I told him to never call me again, and yes a hoover when he felt like it. I have blocked him and he uses my grandson to try to stay in touch. I'm in my apt tonight, in my bed all alone, no abuse. Why would I ever go back to him? I'm living my best life now. So glad I got out. Yes, it was hard, but well worth it. Don't be treated like a dog. Get out and yes, have some self- respect.

My monster never respected me after taking the mask off… what a piece of human waste. That’s why I ASKED HIM TO LEAVE MY HOME within 2 months!!! Think about that? I ASKED a monster to leave my home! I should have called the cops! But I was more afraid of him and what he could do to me or my family! He threatened my life several times! So on point. Always on point. I remember the day I walked into a room where the narc was holding a smartphone yelling at it, and what was the narc yelling? "When I call you or text you...you better #*!* answer IMMEDIATELY" - and I was like whoa, hold on, what if that person was busy? Doing something else? Not attached to their phone? Or even DIDN'T WANT TO ANSWER YET. I was told how damaged I was. Delusional in my thinking. And so on. These narcs are exactly as you say Andrew...they are looking out for themselves. They don't care about anyone else. And I felt it necessary to remind the narc daily that if I didn't answer my phone immediately it was because I was driving or working or on a call and now I can see I did that to try to control the eventual rage fit that would come because I failed to IMMEDIATELY be available to the narc. Life is really good now. It's getting better everyday. And I'm seeing narcs (or at least some behaviors that are similar) in a few others. Distancing, examining, remaining on MY path. This week since handing it all over to God at the altar , I am feeling the indifference for him that people talk about. There has been grieving but I cant dwell anymore .
