Great video! The Rhino looks awesome, especially all the versatility aside from belt squats. I loved doing belt squats for a few years. I wish I had the Rhino, but the Bells of Steel one I had with the Rogue multi belt worked pretty well. My only problem was it started to hurt my right hip every time I'd use it and it would take me up to 3 weeks for the pain to go away. I ended up selling it and buying the Powertec Leg Press and my hip feels much better now.

You can also replace the uprights with full length rack uprights, put a crossmember on top since it is the same width as a rogue rack, and attach a multi-grip pullup bar or adjustable pull-up handles and do weighted pullups. And you could get drop in dip handles that go on the uprights to do weighted dips.

The biggest thing holding me back from getting one of these is figuring out what else I should get to reach 5k for free shipping. Given the promo videos for this thing, it seems like Rogue expects people to get the Vertical Plate Tree 2.0 with wheels and a 1018.5LB Calibrated Plate Set which just so happens to bring the total to exactly 5k -- but unless this thing eats plates like a Pit Shark that seems a tad excessive. Tempted to toss a Manta Ray in there, but then I gotta opt for less expensive weights or risk not having enough... and well, plate storage of some kind probably is still a good idea.

I'm curious if you do deadlifts or use trap bar for them or just not at all? I just got a gym a month ago and did hurt my back deadlifting 285 on 5th or 6th rep just felt something and quit and later that day and for about a week hurt a lot. I then bought Rep Open Trap Bar to deadlift and for traps, forearms and for rowing too and while back was a bit sore I could deadlift with no pain with it, I think its safer as I keep my back straight. I want to strengthen my lower back with low risk of hurting it. Just two weeks later doing around 300lbs for 6-7 reps. My max before covid was a bit over 400 so pretty happy. CURIOUS what you do to strengthen lower back safely?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews

No deadlifts for me anymore. If my back was 100%, I would do them. I switched from barbell to trap bar deadlifts a long time ago, but eventually got to the point I couldn’t do those either. I do think the trap bar deadlift is more lower back friendly.

You can adjust the belt and Rhino horn so that it matches up pretty closely with the bottom of your squat. If you hit bottom, you can also just sit back on the platform. (I showed it once in my IG story when it happened to my wife). I’ve never gotten stuck bc if I start to fail, I just use my hands on the hand bars.

Any tips for squatting with the Rhino and not feeling it solely in the knees? I want to like my Rhino, but after playing around with it for a year, I cannot find a way to squat where I a) don't feel it completely in the knees and b) have crazy knee pain for days after using it. I do seem to feel it in the knees *less* when I stand further back so the weight is kind of pulling me forward. When I stand directly over top of the cable, knee pain is much worse. I never feel it in my quads using the Rhino. I can't figure it out????

A belt squat is often a complete unnecessary/bad investment for a home gym! A flywheel box is so much better in comparisson! The advantages of a flywheel are enormously. - better strength/power and hypertrophy stimuli!! biggest advantage by far. - lower cost - more versatile for horizontal pulling exercises (wall mounted flywheel) - takes a lot less space - is very portable and stowable because of the very low weight and space!! - generally more safe Flywheel >> belt squat

I agree: I have tried, but I can’t find anything I am 100% satisfied with. The closest I got was using plyoboxes as a back support and I showed this briefly in the video where I compare the Rhino to the SquatMax. @@MrJkillahoe415 part of the issue. With the Squatmax, the belt fits around the plates giving it an upside down U shape. That’s not something I hear very often. If the cable snapped, I have to believe it wasn’t properly secured to the carriage or the cable sustained some damage somewhere along the way. Good to hear you are happy with your Edge Fitness.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews I forgot to mention Rogue charged me $411 for the cable and new trolley. The edge fitness deluxe could take 18 plates no problem. Also the Rogue platform lifts off the ground after 8 plates. It's really janky and after the cable issue I just can't get behind a product claiming to be the best and when tested it fails horribly. Maybe if Rogue would have given me replacement parts for life because I bought it but they charged me big bucks. I've used several other brands, even the cheap Titan and they all held up better. My advice is make sure the weight never falls because those loading horns are paper thin.

Love your channel - I have some thoughts that you might appreciate: 1) On the Box Squats aka Bench Squats, when squatting down, never ever ever rest your but on the pad - as soon as you feel your but just touch the pad, go right back up again. These are NOT Squat Down - Rest - Squat Up Squats. We train to make exercises harder Not easier (If you want faster better muscle growth gains). 2) Try to do the squats with your hand under the handles (meaning: palms up) to ONLY stabilize yourself instead of on top of the handles, you'd be surprised on how much you are actually helping yourself with your hands. MUSCULAR FAILURE, or darn close to failure and I go at least 2" below parallel. I do not have to do any concentrated glute work because I do such a perfect squat, to where at the bottom of the squat I actually pause for about 3 seconds and then go back up. Also on the way up you can try to NOT lock your knees. I see that you're a more advanced trainer so I suggest not ever doing box squats - except if you're getting over an injury. Myself as an example I weighed 185lbs and squatted 405 for 10 reps and paused at the bottom 2" below parallel. I now weigh 199 at 5'11" The freakiest thing is to watch the bar bounce up and down while squatting, quite the distraction with a Gorilla on your back. I sometimes had to rest 30 minutes after a leg workout because I literally could not walk let alone drive my car home from Gold's Gym This Gold's Gym was awesome because I got advice from actual Pro Bodybuilders and Power lifters, I was 15 when I learned all I need to know now. It was a gym where - If you had small legs and a big upper body you would be kicked out and or MADE to TRAIN LEGS for risk of constant verbal torment from the bodybuilders.

I always used "higher volume" approaches , but when I started doing HIT and dropping my frequency to once every four days, that pain has gone away completely. Good to hear you are seeing good results with HIT. I just love training so much and need it for overall well-being; as a result, I had to modify HIT so I could train more frequently. However, I am experimenting with lowering the volume even further per session. Also, I agree, high volume usually causes me joint trouble after a couple weeks.
