WHY THE WEST LIVES MORE COMFORTABLY - Prices in Belgium vs Eastern Europe
Join me as we compare life in Eastern Europe to Western Europe.
We meet some friendly and interesting locals and eventually make it to the market the supermarket, the market and some fast foods and see why it is so much easier in the west.
As always we do our best to bring you a full Eastern Europe experience, no matter where we travel.
If you enjoy adventure videos from the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, then grab your vodka, some zakusky and join me as we visit the capital of Europe and compare it to Eastern Europe.
Thank you to all my KZfaq Members and Patreons for your support and for helping make this channel what it is!

In my opinion is very hard to compare different countries with the price of several things and min wage. The most important things are rent, insurance, road taxes, gov taxes , utilities. It Brussels probably one tiny room is 1000 euros, maybe the same in London , compare to 100-150 euros is Sofia. And this is very important and big amount, not the sunflower oil which I hardly buy 1 bottle a month and is around 1 euro everywhere. Insurance in East Europe countries is around 100 euros a year, I know in UK first one would cost 2000 pounds then with no claims fall down every year , but fingers crossed no to have a RTA. Also we have villages , where in East Europe majority of people have a good natural production. which obviously you do not have anywhere in the West. The things are very different overall, but anyway with only min wage , anywhere you live bad.

If you ever go to Bulgaria again you should try to go to Smolyan and taste their 'banitsas' (they'll get offended if you call them banitsas). They're called Пататник and Клин and they are something else.

Hello Justin, love your channel. Just wanted to add about what we call marteniçka here in Turkey, it is fairly popular among the western and southern coast and amongst people who have roots from the Balkans as well. So you can call it a thing that exists in Turkey also. Keep up the good work, cheers :)

Another thing as I see - it is not allowed to film anywhere- shops, markets. Haven’t seen this in another country . Public spaces should be allowed

It’s because of the T word, Belgium has been a victim of many attacks over the years they have to be more security conscious.

Hey Justin, just discovered you and love your videos so far. About the Martenica, it's not a custom to tie them in April, you actually tie them on the first blooming tree you see or if you see a stork or a Swallow. This usually happens at the end of March and beginning of April.

Thanks for the video, m8! Appreciated. I’m Bulgarian, so I’ll try to make a comparison with our prices. What I can say straight away is that Belgium is way-way more pricey than Bulgaria (“surprisingly”). Very simple example from your video (and it’s not even a food)… A toothpaste from a common brand (75 ml) costs like 4.60 euro, while in Bulgaria it’s like 1.60 euro. The Belgium price is like 35% more expensive than ours. And a normal person in Bulgaria will never pay such amount of money for a toothpaste and it’s a more certain thing than taxes. I mean the Grim Reaper.

the toothpaste is not the most important. even the food is not. If you make comparison need to let people know average rent, utilities ,insurances. In Brussels I doubt the rent for one room would be 1000 euros.60% of the min salary. Well with min wage , it is not good anywhere.

Dude, wtf, prices are mostly the same and higher in Sofia + belgian min wage is 1.6k eur. Sensodyne paste is between 3 and 6 eur in Sofia, I can find you a common paste in Belgium for 1.6 eur. It is way more easy and comfortable for basic stuff in Belguim than in Sofia.

Money is like the 🔋 of a new 📱... when it's new u got full day of charge... after 2 years- u got less 🔋... and whoever gets the newly created 💸 💰... gets purchasing power.. and when the money reaches a 👦 in Troyan ...it 💸 has lost a lot of its purchasing 🔋....

U just cross the 🇧🇬 border with 🇷🇸 and 🇹🇷... and the prices of 🥚 🪺, 🧀, 🍟, 🍖 are much less... for them /Serbian and Turkish people/ - Bulgarian Lev /bgn/ - is hard currency 💵 💶 ... hyperinflation over there...
