There is a major difference between Venezuela and the nations the guests compared to, USSR, Cuba, China, etc... Venezuela voted for this where the other nations were forced into it by armed revolt where a majority sat on the sidelines.

I have a friend from Trinidad island went to embry riddle university for 4 degrees. It took her 15 years of working and interviewing and money to finally get her green card. Its as bad as Jamaica and almost like cuba. So unsafe and unstable no opportunities. Gangs and drugs just like South America and now my country. Us army veteran and this is such treason and corruption. Best wishes gentleman

Thank you for this episode. It was very enlightening It seems most unfortunate that these two men have had to leave their homeland because of one despicable dictator’s whims and greed. I am glad they have found sanctuary in the US since they are striving to lead productive lives and seem grateful for the generosity of this country. I hope they will both find the security they seek.

Who cares? US does not need their low quality crude, we can produce our own again. OPEC nations are the ones with the high quality crude oil. Chavez made their country go broke, that was not the US doing.

Didn’t Blackrock with Mossad through political restructuring take Venezuelans oil and gas about 3-5 years ago? And put in a puppet government? I recall this is what happened. We know where the money has gone. Do the research

I don't see any difference between Jullian assange and them, Both thought they were fighting for a democracy to impose their authority over others..But of course they both had different attitudes and actions but the result is the same, Persecuted by their rulers.

How does an unarmed and poor population fight against well armed and well funded opposition. Oh and unless known otherwise these unarmed and poor people have little “combat” experience.

@@falkon7832 death by a thousand cuts. If the populace turned against it enmasse it would be extremely costly but those in power wouldn't have the numbers or infrastructure to win. The problem is when 1 person decides they can't fight, there's no incentive for anybody to fight. I've fought alongside thousands of people less trained and educated, it takes commitment and will. These are two military aged men that left their country to seemingly fight for a thing they wouldn't even fight for their own blood. No thanks.

Most legitimate Political Asylum cases from Venezuela would have come after the Guaido Movement in Venezuela. People crossing now are opportunistic economic migrants. Granted the argument can be made why claim asylum in The United States when there are many nations in between. The dude who got the internship is opportunistic as well, but at least he was vetted before coming to America and should have more of a claim that those crossing now. Even before Maduro, Venezuela was socialist under Chavez.

This is an incredibly one-sided discussion of Venezuelan politics and recent financial problems. It would go a long way if Mr. Vargas searched for citizens on the ground working in non-profits to help those in need to determine their take on what's transpired and why. It would be more fair and balanced. This entire episode was a propaganda mouthpiece for far-right ideology in Venezuela. lol. I wouldn't be surprised if these two gentlemen were affiliated with Juan Guido (an installed puppet by the United States... not an elected leader by the Venezuelan people, btw) in some way. Also, Mr. Vargas should do a better job in the future of understanding both sides of what's going on down there. To invite these two guests on but have no idea of what socialism is or what President Maduro is/was trying to do after taking over from Hugo Chavez is kind of amateurish. He can do better than that.
