Count me as one SOT fan who is *very happy* that SOT covers hard rock, heavy metal, progressive rock, classic rock, *and* jazz fusion! As far as I know, there is *no other* music channel which *goes so deep* into many different styles of rock and metal, and jazz fusion, and horror movies too! I love the new music reviews, the group discussions, the album rankings, the rants, the Monster's Den... SOT rocks! 🙂

Hello Pete. Being a 66 year old music nut I love your channel and watch nearly all your output, I admit I don't watch the monster channel, as I hate horror movies and modern films. But the music output is brilliant and I do know a lot about all styles of music, but love to hear other people's views on music I love. The guys and girls who are on your shows are very entertaining and knowledgeable. I watch from the UK and like the UK show. Keep up the great work and don't worry about the people who criticise, they don't have to watch.

I appreciate the variety of topics covered on SoT. Thanks to the SoT team for all the effort.

Alternative and Punk are my favorite genres, but I tune in to your channel all the dang time, 😂 I like a wide range of Rock subgenres and always look into the artists you guys discuss. Always blown away at how many rock bands I've never heard of.

I'm I punk dude and I also got into the channel to get more into prog, rock and jazz etc. I love this channel.

The variety is what is appealing about this channel.

Martin, thank you for talking about The Sound. I've been listening to the debut ever since the show. Going to work in chronological order bit by bit. Amazing band.

Somewhere, Chuck Alvarez is shedding a tear as he puts his punk CDs back on the shelf.

Some interesting passages here, and as a prog guy growing up, I loved the Stranglers (as many prog guys did) because they weren't really punk and way more musical than their contemporaries. I think Daily Doug is reaction video worth watching as it helps those of us with no musical theory to understand why we like certain tracks/bands/genres- I genuinely think it adds something (without losing layman's sensibility) and deepens our sense of decisions these musicians make when they compose their music and their own sense of theory. I also appreciate the ranking album shows/new music shows, not just for those artists I know, but for other acts of whom I was unaware, as well as the one album wonder element from the past- so just to mention a few, I have picked up from Missing Records albums by the Sword, Witchcraft etc and thanks to the rankings of Elder, I will be seeing them at Slay in November. Unfortunately, for those committed to living in the past and with just a handful of old or heritage acts, there's nothing we can do for them

My takes: 1. I'm a big fan of a lot of genres Pete generally doesn't like (90s alternative, punk & post-punk) and I'm not expecting Pete to ever become a fan of Nirvana or Television any more than I expect myself to become a fan of Dream Theater or Uriah Heep. 2. There are lots of places on KZfaq for genres not in the general reach of Sea of Tranquility. I make videos about stuff I like and interact with other micro-channels. Pete's never going to rank the albums of Husker Du or Juliana Hatfield, so I'll do it myself. I'm in a world where if I get over 100 views it is huge, but I've discovered stuff like Zambian garage rock and Finnish punk from others that I've met along the way. 3. I watch shows on this channel because I am at least somewhat interested in metal, hard rock, and classic rock. I watch almost every episode of Pete & Martin because that pair is entertaining even if they are talking about music I don't care about. I watch most episodes of Hudson Valley Squares mainly for entertainment value. I'll pick and choose with Prog Seat & UK Connection and I'm not into fusion or horror movies so I skip those shows. I realize everything has its audience, and I suspect Pete wants to continue dong the fusion shows and the reviews of new albums as a labor of love even though he knows those don't get as many views. 4. If you do ever do a punk show, get Karen LaP. on it. She's got to have some great stories.

To paraphrase Martin: "there are probably a lot of people who watch this channel who like punk, but they're in their late 50s." That fits me to a "T". I am probably around Pete's age. The first genre I listened to was prog - Gabriel Genesis, Yes, ELP, Gentle Giant, and I expanded to Strawbs along with American semi-prog (Styx, Kansas, Queen). I loved big keyboard sounds. I never got into Kiss. I did like Led Zeppelin and Rush. Then...heard the Ramones. I learn to love guitars. I expanded to the Clash, Wire, Gang of Four, and on and on. I heard Television, New York Dolls, etc. I kept going - Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Husker Du, Minutemen, Replacements. So, the one disconnect for me was so-called Heavy Metal. This channel opened my door. I never knew I loved Black Sabbath until I expanded my listening. Same with Iron Maiden. Heck - I even expanded way beyond that. Death metal, symphonic metal. So - my point....this channel (and others) serve as a potential "guide" (in that I will check out stuff I may never have heard before). I was hoping for a punk discussion, but there is plenty of good stuff here to keep me entertained and informed.

I wasn't there. i was born in 1980. But goddamn do I ever love The Sound. I think I discovered them in 2010. I definitely understand the concept of "you had to be there" and I can imagine it applying to certain things, but I really believe music, art, stuff like this, is eternal; timeless.

This was great show gents! I'm into many different generas of music and am open to learning about bands I've never heard or may have missed out on. Thank you and keep doing what you all do at SOT.

Martin is always fascinating and I like his curiosity for hearing different perspectives. I do like his respect for the 'reaction video' thing - there are a lot of trash reactions but there are some REALLY cool and insightful ones. The ones that talk about the music in an in depth way, instead of just 'oooh' and 'ahhh'. I guess THAT is the kind of 'Reaction Video' Pete is tired of. The good ones are for example the Classical musicians reacting to Metal - when they break down what they hear from a totally different angle of analysis.

Since discovering SOT during the pandemic I have discovered new avenues of music that I knew very little about and given no time for before. I consider that I have lots of new friends with all your guests who I look forward to watching every week TV wishes it could have as entertaining people as yourself, Martin Popoff, Chris Alo, Luiss Nasser, Ken Golden etc. Even at 66 years old through you I have discovered Rush, King Crimson, Jethro Tull and many more. I watch all your programming even though I may have no knowledge of the artists discussed because it so entertaining and you get the bonus of searching out what is recommended. Keep up the great content.

The sound were amazing and hugely underrated, another great post punk, at that time, was sad lovers and giants

SoT is far and away the best channel of its kind, a good mix of the well known and less well known it has introduced me to a lot of new music and prompted me to revisit some I had previously put aside. As a UK listener I now have more insight and interest in the big US artists that never made much of a mark over here. If a topic isn’t for you then don’t watch it, it really is that simple. Thanks and keep up the good work everyone!

I'm an old punker who has not heard 95% of what SoT covers... Do I need another dissertation on Black Flag? I'm here to learn new stuff! It's all new to me! I dig that you cover what you love.

Popoff and Pardo are at it again with an interesting discussion of something a little different than another musical theme. The intersection of knowledge, personal passions, life experiences, and other factors come into play. Some people seek comfort and affirmation; others seek new frontiers. Many seek both. SoT generally wears its heart on its sleeve. Older than both members of the funhouse so personal experiences definitely are influenced by growing up in the 60s and early 70s. One of the more obvious impacts of that - at least personally - is growing up with strong AM radio presence where you heard all types of music - rock, blues, soul, R & B, pop, and on and on - coupled with parents whose divergent musical tastes included big band, classical, New Orleans jazz, vocalists and a house where everyone played or learned an instrument [or two]. Though it has become increasingly difficult to watch every SoT program and life opened back up after the pandemic, continue to watch as much as can be fit. The value of SoT is the personalities and sincerity, or perhaps better, integrity, of those appearing in the program. Real personalities shine through and that, along with continued exposure to new 'new' music as well as new 'old' music is what keeps returning me to the channel. Thanks, gents for a fascinating discussion of what interests you and how you approach these particular instances in your careers and musical lives. There ya go!

I love this channel. There's no way I could watch everything on it, so I watch the ones that cover topics I'm interested in. I think there's a lot of variety here. Some channels focus strictly on one subgenre of music and that's it. There's nothing wrong with that either.

...I've said it before and I'll say it again ...The Pete and Martin Volley on Topics in my Rock and Roll Orbit and some even stretch that Universe ( Thank the Stars ) never disappoint and I always leave with more than I came with ....Love You Guys ....All the Damn Time !

SOT has never been shy about explaining that they cover bands that interest them and if you're interested in those bands, congratulations! You've found a channel that covers the things you want to hear about! I can't tell you how many bands I discovered through Pete and SOT. He's covered so many genres and bands that I had never heard of that I wonder how he had time to discover all of them himself! Keep doing what you do Pete! You've always provided a wide variety of content that pushes the limits of your audience's awareness and understanding. There have been many bands and or albums that I was aware of and listened to, that I just didn't get, that all these years later (on SOT's recommendation/illumination), I have gone back to and found quality music that I enjoy immensely now. Thanks for your hard work and a big thank you to the panelists like Martin that you've marshaled together to make content with!

While I would like a Punk Parade as I enjoy seeing SOT explore new areas, I’m not mad that there isn’t. It’s up to Pete to decide what he wants to spend his time on.

“How dare this pizzeria not serve massaman curry?” It’s a KZfaq channel, folks. We’re not obligated to watch videos about music we don’t relate to, and SoT isn’t obligated to pander to any one of us. Pete & co. have always been clear about what they do, and they do it well. Do I watch every video religiously? No. Just the ones I find interesting because it’s about something I like or because I want to find some new shit. Am I going to rage quit the channel because Pete’s never going to review a Czarface album? Also no. There are other channels out there for whatever music you want to learn more about. If you can’t find it, start one!

I am in the same age range as Pete and Martin. My first album was the Sabbath compilation We Sold Out Soul For Rock and Roll. From that moment on I fell in love with music. What I have found interesting about myself that this episode made me think about was how I have constantly added new genres, but I never jettisoned what I loved before. I Loved '70s classic rock Prog, yacht rock '70s r&b, no then discovered English punk and hardcore. Then that led me into metal. I fell in love with the burgeoning thrash, death and black metal scenes of the '80s and early '90s. I'm weird because I loved that stuff but bands like Priest and Madien never did anything for me. Then I discovered Nirvana years before they blew up, which led to discovering Soundgarden Pearl jam Alice in chains etc and I couldn't get enough of that. And that led me into discovering industrial bands like Nine Inch Nails and Manxon. From there I expanded into newer metal bands like Opeth, Katatonia, Dark Tranquility to death core like Lorna Shore. I've also discovered modern country music and love acts like Miranda Lambert. Eric Church and the incredible vocal harmonies of Little Big Town. Hell I even like Taylor Swift. She is an incredible talent who knows how to write catchy earworm pop songs. This is how weird I am. I'm always playing music and in any given day I could listen to Rush, the Residents, Overkill, The Bangles, Smashing Pumpkins, Emperor, White Stripes, Brand Of Sacrifice and Sabrina Carpenter. I don't know what that makes me but I don't care because I love it all.

Just a few of my favorite punk bands… Avengers, early Corrosion of Conformity (1982-‘85), The Damned, Dead Boys, DOA, GBH, Johnny Thunders’ Heartbreakers, The Middle Class, New York Dolls, Redd Kross, SNFU, TSOL, and The Vibrators.

Martin, it's great that you discovered The Sound. Strangely enough they were never successful in their native England, but over here in the Low Countries (Belgium/ The Netherlands) they had a huge following.

I'm a punk and hardcore guy and still love your stuff.I remember I used to go to this club, One room emo/punk/ska another classic heavy rock and hair metal, and the other Indie. I think I spent more time in the rock room chilling out and thought lots of the stuff is cool so now when you mention an unfamiliar band I'll often flick over and check out some of their stuff.

Martin, thank you for mentioning The Sound! I had no knowledge of that band, now I'm doing a deep dive into the catalog. Truly excellent stuff!!

Cheers Pete I'm a longtime subscriber and viewer. I'm like the guy who commented that punk rock was his thing but he's been into it for so long he just wanted to expand and learn more about unknown bands. That's where I'm at I grew up punk rock and had blinders on for corporate Rock for many years. As I got older those blinders were taken down and I started appreciating classic rock, hard rock, metal more. Though I knew of the classic bands like Zeppelin Beatles Stones Judas priest thin Lizzy. But it wasn't until I started watching your show that caught my attention I think you're a fine journalist and you definitely know your shit! I applaud you on praise too many times how you turn me on to various bands through ranking the albums. You definitely turned me on to a lot of obscure bands and as I called New Old stock banza past me by went under the radar when I had my blinders on. Because you owe me huge wishbone Ash fan as well as UFOand Michael schenker. I enjoy your various shows there's some that draw me in as I take a lot of your recommendations and then some that bore me so I just turn off because it's not my thing. I really enjoyed this segment the most you explained everything clearly and professionally I really Dig that. Kudos to you and your hard work with your work on Sea of tranquility

Also on this subject, growing up with punk ive always had a fascination with the pre punk stuff, some of that would fit into the "rock" criteria, the UK stuff like Chiswick records, Hammersmith Gorillas, Incredible Kidda band, Dr Feelgood and the pub rock stuff of the early 70s. and the US stuff like The stooges, The NYC stuff, New York Dolls, Death, Third world war (Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys was a fan)

I come and watch, because I love your enthusiasm about the music you love. Doesn't matter if that's exactly the kind of music I love myself. There is overlap, though.

I think I discovered SOT and reaction videos around the same time. I have found value in some reaction channels, particularly with one like Lost in Vegas. The fun part is that it’s like a substitute for playing music that you enjoy for someone who’s never heard it. But with LiV in particular, they genuinely seemed to have realized that there’s a whole other world of music out there that they enjoy. And they articulate their analysis well, and just show genuine excitement when something sounds great. When they flipped out over Blackwater Park, it was about specific things they heard that I never paid attention to. So that increased my own enjoyment and rediscovery of music I had already known for a long time. We certainly don’t have to like everything, but it really feels great when something finally clicks.

Again a great show! Very special. Pete, according the stats you mentioned it seems the average viewer is musically pretty conservative. I'm happy and grateful for discovering some really cool new bands through SoT 😃! Thank you! This is definitely my favorite SoT show!

I will tell you this I started watching this channel for the metal and classic rock. What you have done for me is opened my eyes to genres like prog and fusion. I love bands like Gentle Giant and Porcupine Tree among others. I continue to learn about new bands and performers nearly each time I watch. And I look forward to the Monsters Den. The shows about the old universal horror and Hammer movies take Me back to childhood. But seriously SOT has for sure broadened my horizons. Keep up the work and I'll keep watching bro.

fascinating discussion - I'm apparently one of those weird people who is constantly looking for something new, be it brand new releases or 50 years old that I've somehow missed until now. Great stuff - this is why I always look forward to the funhouse on Fridays!

Pete, great show as always, it hit me during your comments about variety from around 20:00-30:00 that it's the EXACT same problem that older bands have when trying to make setlists. They know that 80% of the crowd is there to only hear the same 6-8 big songs that band has over and over and will tune out for any new or old obscure song no matter how good it is. While a small percentage will complain endlessly that they have to hear the same songs over and over. It's kind of a no-win scenario.

Pete, this episode displays the point that some people complain about everything. You never hide or mislead your tastes. I have similar tastes as yours so that's why I watch. It's OK not like everything!

I love your channel. Sometimes I learn things about bands I never have heard before, sometimes I learn things about bands I thought I would know everything about. And to me the mix is absolutely ok. I remember last week watching the ranking of "November". Man, such a great band I never heard a single note of before. Also the live album show. I have tons of live records and sometimes I simply forget about the pure greatness of some of these works. Some weeks ago I discovered "Strange Highways" by Dio. Man I was thirty years old when that album was released and didn´t know about it. Always thought of "Rainbow Rising" as his biggest Dio record and even didn´t get the Black Sabbath releases with Dio on vocals. Two weeks ago I bought "Heaven and Hell" and "Mob Rules" and they´re on heavy rotation!

This episode is my bottom line in why I have not gone ahead started my own channel. It just seems so frustrating. SOT is a great channel and kudos for you and your efforts in effective programming. AND GUESS WHAT? There is hundreds of other channels that I can subscribe to if I should tune in to something that I don’t want to hear or watch at the moment on SOT. Amazing that this channel surfing, short attention span world can’t move on to find something that will entertain them, but instead drop comments on how you need to address their needs and interests.

As a fan of every genre you guys cover, it's a pleasure to hear about bands I love and learn about stuff I've never heard of ( Birth, Jalayan, & Riverside being a few examples of bands I've learned of from you) for the last 10 odd years I've been following the channel. Martin is a local hero, as a guy that grew up in the 90's in Toronto. Keep up the great work! Fuck the haters!

I think I've been following this YT show for at least 3-4 years, but this show is the really the only thing I watch. I've caught a few episodes of the prog seat and the metal discussion. Really enjoy the Pardo/Popoff shows.

Pete SOT is a people channel we talk etc, its a community and its the best.

For me, it's all about the discovery, whether it's about some music I don't know or about facts I don't know about artists I like...I love hearing about all genres covered on SoT and you guys make it interesting. Plus, I buy records everyday, so I need fuel and ideas. I have to say that what got me hooked on the channel was the "One and done" series that Pete did during Covid. The only show I don't watch on SoT is the Monster's Den. Cheers.

I didn't get the April Fool's joke and was pretty excited about the fact that there was to be a Punk show every now and again. But I am not too disappointed to hear that it's not going to be on the schedule going forward, bearing in mind Martin and Pete's comments. Love the show, you got me! I stumbled across SOT due to KZfaq AI telling me that I might like the channel. I believe it was a ranking the Stones albums which is probably my favorite band. I have to admit a lot of the bands mentioned on the channel I don’t get and never will. I definitely lean towards alt/punk music but I feel I have enough knowledge on that genre that I don’t need SOT to have a specific show on the topic. I watch SOT to find out about music and bands I normally wouldn’t investigate. I’ve discovered some great new metal, stoner rock and even prog bands that I’m glad I took the time to listen to.

Glad you found The Sound Martin! From The Lions Mouth is a favorite of mine:)........I'll never understand the mindset of a person who, if they like X,Y,Z music, are unable to seek and find a content creator who shares the same interests. There's tons of music channels on Y.T. Ignorance is abundant.

Really great episode. I love my metal, which is what keeps me coming back. But I love punk and post punk, especially Television, Ha ha! My question would be... "Who are actually reading the comments". You have to be an incredible day speed reader to even pull up the interesting questions moving forward here. Obviously the bigger bands are big because they should be. The smaller folk trying to live the dream are trying their best to become noticed by influencers like this channel. I think at this point in 2023 that lots of talented got UNNOTICED the past few decades because of Corporatization methods. What a shame. However, there were many acts and great bands that gave that chance to artists over the years. I think this country is built strong enough to rebuild here and give another chance to the many artists who deserve that chance that felt that they were left without hope. Love the channel Peter and love the insights with all of your shows and podcasts. My favorite shows are with Martin. So much history to learn from. I thought I did my research over the years and them you all talk about an obscure act or band/artist. We all have to keep educating our youth or else we are all doomed in the real POST FUTURE that timeline #2 is fading but still in front of us all.

Really interesting discussion, fellas. I agree with all of this; what I find difficult to understand is where people (and I know quite a few) will only listen to current bands and that the bands from our formative years (1969 to 1977, say) should be consigned to the past and left there. Through your channel I have discovered many bands from all over the World who released music from that period which is new to me. Strangely, you have just discussed exactly that as I write this!

A good episode. I have said this before this is Pete's Channel so he can do his channel whatever he wants. Like he you like what you like. If don't like certain topics of music you don't you don't have to watch. Just watch what topics that you are into.

A few thoughts: 1. The original purpose of this channel was to review new releases. Never stop that even though they are not your most watched shows. 2. Some of my favorite shows are when you discuss obscure artists (especially late 60's, early 70's; which I missed first time around). I have discovered a lot of great music by watching these shows. 3. Don't worry about covering other genres that you're not comfortable with. There is a lot of music I love that is not covered here. That's fine. there is plenty of other channels and media for me to watch. I'm here mainly for everything but Metal. Keep up the great content

Interesting show today gentlemen. I’ll start off by saying you can’t please everyone. I give you guys credit for coming up with new content. That has to be challenging. The subject matter not only has to please the fans but you as hosts as well. Honestly, I don’t watch every show/topic and that’s okay. I will say I thoroughly enjoy the new album review segments. discovering new music is a treat. Reaction videos….have to be honest, never watched one. Chance that I do is slim. In summary, keep doing what you do. I find most of the episodes entertaining and that’s why we watch, right, to be entertained and while at the same time hopefully learn something.

I knew it was a joke right off the bat 😂. To ppl who took it seriously, c’mon! I absolutely love this channel and watch almost all of the content. The reasons I watch as much as I can is that I can revisit the things I love and find new things to check out. I’ve discovered so many great bands/albums and enjoy the perspectives from everyone. If you’re coming here for a genre that isn’t covered, there are so many other places to check those things out. I don’t watch a video about Fear or Black Flag and expect them to mention Uriah Heep.

Agree .. watch what u like and skip the stuff u do not... although dipping your toes in something different is coll every once in awhile.. SoT reminds me of hanging with my friends... bringin your new LP's talking music in our basements having a few cold ones...We had similar taste but not exactly the same .. so I picked up some favs and others didn't stick.and turned others on to a few ......it was communal and as an old dude that isn't happening otherwise .. 😀

It's strange Pete I don't listen to much prog rock, but when it delves into progressive metal it really gets my attention. I've went back a few times to those excellent shows with Steven Reid Riverside and IQ are great examples, Haken was great as well, so more programmes with Steven delving into prog bands which delve into prog metal would be welcome. 👍

There's more than enough variety on here. I'm mainly here to listen to opinions and rankings of bands I'm already familiar with. To Martin's point, I'm largely stuck in a specific era that runs from the late sixties to around 1984. Apart from metal and hard rock (a lot of prog too) I'm also into pop, disco, funk and roots reggae from that era. A bit of punk too, although I prefer pub rock. I got into music around 1973 when Demis Roussos (probably my favortite vocalist to this day) was all the rage here in the Middle East, then got into Mud in 1975 and up to 1979 was listening to Kuwait FM. 1979 was the year I got into Kiss and hard rock in a big way. I strongly agree that the albums we grew up with or first acquired from a band are our favorites, at least in my case. That said, I am open to new music. Martin brings such an interesting perspective to SoT...my first love back in1979 was metal but as it stagnated in the mid 80s my tastes shifted/expanded to bands such as husker du REM to rap and so much more.. sticking to just 'rock' is so limiting..open eyes and open ears people !!

Pete very good show. The short answer is: you do you. To me life/music listening is a Venn diagram: some tastes and choices will intersect with others, then some will diverge wildly. Am I disappointed you do not discuss ambient, avant garde, or what is now deemed "weird" (I have seen it in multiple record stores)? No. There are other ways to glean into those genres. Keep on your path; it is appreciated,

Yes there are times the fan worship on the shows turn me off but it wouldn't say they were bad shows. If I don't sync with the topic,I don't watch. I'd prefer more ranking shows but I am one viewer amoung thousands and I get it. They deserve to see stuff on their likes. Sometimes I get turned on to something and it's like 😊. Keep up the good work SOT crew.

Kudos to Martin on the "Funhouse" / "No Fun" STOOGES song references at 3:21-3:25 😆 The Pardo/Popoff "Funhouse" show is my favorite show; I think the reason it resonates with me is because it gets into some really deep levels of observation into the minds of music fans and how they tick, and gets a good look at the landscape of opinions. Personally I like that Sea of Tranquility is holding up the banner for the straight-ahead / non-alternative side of rock music (metal, hard rock, AOR, Southern rock, prog rock, fusion). SOT provides a LOT of variety within that set of themes. Martin is more of a punk/post-punk/new wave/power pop fan whereas Pete isn't at all, so you get a little bit of that from Martin on the Funhouse show. But there is so much obsession over punk and alternative elsewhere, so I don't have to have it here (not to mention that genre set gets a little too pretentious for its own good a lot of times, and I'm not here for the pretention, I'm here for the music). Pete is correct that not everything that SOT covers is things I like. I'm not a horror / comic fan, and I don't like nu-metal or most extreme metal. Also regarding the album reviews, I'm wary of current music because of 1) the "copies of copies of copies" issue that Martin mentions and 2) I HATE Loudness War mastering, and almost all the current albums are guaranteed to have it. On the other hand, speaking of obscure music, I love to learn about obscure albums from this channel. Pete's "Ranking the Albums" is one of my favorite shows because its helps give me overviews of lesser-known artists' catalogs. The HAWKWIND episode was incredibly helpful with untangling that messy discography, and the SAGA one led me right to their AOR albums of the late 1980s, some of which I've now listened myself sick on. Also the Pardo/Popoff Funhouse "Problem Children Part 1" episode led me to "Breath of the Pit" (2014) by ALGY WARD'S TANK, which is still the heaviest metal album I've EVER heard and one I listen to a LOT. Where has that album been all my life, and why isn't more metal like that? 😳 I too am a little unnerved to hear IRON MAIDEN, MERCYFUL FATE and KISS referred to as novelty acts; you remove the exterior visuals and you have some really incredible and well-composed and played music, as Pete says. Ah well, you can't agree with everything; on the other hand, I love MAGMA and think Pete's hatred of that group is hilariously entertaining.

Punk has never been my thing but I do like some bands that have punkish tendencies....that have been touched my the shadows of punkiness....like early Pretenders, The Clash, and Green Day. Good show, guys. Thanks.

Interesting "meta" episode. And all kudos for Martin for praising The Sound 👏 Underappreciated is a too often used term for actually revered musicians who maybe aren't as popular as others (like Ian Paice vs. Bonham. Surely not that famous, but I've often read of other drummers praising him), but for The Sound it certainly fits. A great band with a hugely talented frontman. And certainly with an edge with his mental illness, his struggles with it often reflected in his lyrics. In The Netherlands they enjoyed some popularity and could be heard on alternative radio at the time (lucky for me).

I think Martin has been watching Beth Roars and The Daily Doug.😃You should do a show about Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald. That'll show 'em! I like this channel because it's eclectic. I'm more of a 1960's-1970's music person but love watching Hudson Valley Squares to hear about some ultra obscure Swedish death metal band I've never heard of. I like the UK connection because it's like watching a comedy team doing a routine. I'm a huge prog fan so I love In the Prog Seat. Friday's with Martin is great. I love music and like hearing and learning new things and this channel fits my need..

Man…I love this channel and have for a long time. I’m 57 and am a fan of everything from Pharoah Sanders to Kiss and beyond. I am sure I have listened to as much music as both Martin and Pete too…however, if you EVER do a “punk music for metal heads”, get in touch ha ha. I was asked to write an article just like that for the late Bob Muldowney of KICKASS MONTHLY (someone will remember) back in 1985 when I was a letter writer tape trader in the punk and metal underground. I assure you, there is a universe of influential good music under the so called punk umbrella that influenced things in not just metal but weirdo outsider music in general, way beyond the usual names that are thrown around, like Rudimentary Peni, Th’ Inbred, the Offenders, Die Kreuzen, Rebel Truth, the Rhythm Pigs, Saccharine Trust…the list goes on and on. Look into Die Kreuzen especially, they were a universe under themselves. Cheers, keep up the good work.

I grew up with bands like WASP , KISS , MOTLEY CRUE , OZZY , JUDAS PRIEST , ect. back in the early 1980's. And I agree with you Pete that I am more interested in your channel when you talk about those type of bands. My son is 26 and he is into Metal and enjoys the bands I grew up with , but of course he is also into the new Metal bands that I just can't get into. As far as PUNK , the only band I ever got into was THE CLASH , THE POLICE , BLONDIE , THE RAMONES , and THE OFFSPRING. I never got into the Alternative music from the 1990's like Pearl Jam , STP , Alice in Chains , ect. I only like a few songs from that genre. I really do enjoy every Friday enjoy listening to you and Martin , I learn a lot from the two of you. Keep up the great work on the channel.

Great show. I have tried punk bands but honestly they do nothing for me, but I understand those who do like them. The same goes for cookie monster vocals in prog metal. I can't stand them. I love my prog metal with melodic vocals. I always try genres I am not familiar with but only a few resonate with me. I think the same happens to every one of us. The Television example happened to me a few years back. Keep up these fun conversations.

Have fallen off the Metallica band wagon years ago..but the new one is growing..don't stop Pete ..love the channes ..prog and all

I would like to thank Martin for literally just introducing me to the band The Sound. I have just come out of a one hour KZfaq rabbit hole. I rarely act on recommendations (being that older, jaded kinda guy) but I’m so glad you managed to pique my interest. That is post punk at its absolute finest. I can’t believe this band didn’t make it to at least the level of an Echo and the Bunnymen. Tragic and an even more tragic outcome to the lead singer. Thanks again Martin

I agree w/some of the posters here. This isn't the only channel I tune in or subscribe to. I mainly come for the bands I love, and this channel actually covers like Led Zeppelin, The Stones, Whitesnake, Def Leppard and Van Halen. I love bands this show does not cover like INXS, U2 and Depeche Mode. But I've found another channel and host, who I have great discussions with, who does cover those bands. I understand that this channel isn't for all genres of music, but it doesn't mean I can voice my disappointment. Anyway, this is a free country and, if I don't like it, I can go somewhere else.

I mostly tune in for the Metal and Hard Rock content but I don't get upset over the prog stuff. I don't listen to much prog but I do enjoy some Jethro Tull, Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Gentle Giant. I am just too busy with all the hard and heavy sub genres to dive deeper into prog. Appreciate all you do Pete. To me your channel already has HUGE variety.
