Apparently one can still buy this type of generator from other companies online, they've increased the output from 700watts (like mine) to 1200 watts which is quite the upgrade. Check it out through this Amazon affiliate link:

I’ve had my little HF generator since they had they had the red gas tank. I’ve put tons of hours on it. The ignition coil died a couple years ago but it uses a standard dirt bike coil so $7 on eBay latter it was back working again. I love this thing. Before I got my M18 sawzall I would take that generator plus my corded sawzall to the steel yard buy full length pieces of steel and cut them in half on the tailgate of my truck before loading them. A friend of mine has the even older blue tanked one. The only thing he’s ever done to his is change the spark plug.

We have a similar unit ( ours is yellow). We use it for powering house lights and modems during blackouts. One day, we got greedy, and plugged in an electric coffee maker. Unit got hot and the piston seized. Pull cord wouldn't move. Next day when it was cooled, it started right up like new. Great little machine for small jobs.

That sounds like you ran it on straight gas or you got your 2cycle mix waaay off. Glad it came back. Good little unit

I use mine with my electric pole saw. It is great for trimming trees . It has lots of uses. If you keep good fuel in it, it just works.

I agree with you. My storm cat still runs. It's light and handy. The original Cap cracked during winter one year. I drilled a hole in front of the carb big enough to get a carb spray straw in. Works for easy start up.

Got mine for camping but now for running 110v tools out of reach of extension cords. Works great for what it is. Can't get that kind of stuff in kalifornia any more due to saving the planet.

I've had a "blue tank model" for at least 10 years, but it still runs great. When it was almost new, it quit working. I found a bad solder connection on the sator. After fixing that, it has never failed me.

Bought mine years ago, $85 at HF. takes about 10 minutes to clean out the carb if I let it sit too long, but most times it fires up on the first or second pull. its great for remote places that I just need a little bit of 110 power.

Great machines if one respects what they are! Got the Checker auto parts version of it about 16 years ago when I was stock car racing to power 2, 300 watt halogen lights and a battery charger. Ran 4+ hrs each race night for 3 years, couple times a year I'd clean/re oil the air filter and think I only replaced the spark plug once. Still use it occasionally for little things, has to have 500+ hrs on it! When I heard HF was discontinuing them, I just had to get another before they were gone! As someone who takes great pride in my chainsaws, I'll just pretend I didn't see that😅 but seriously... whatever works👍🏻 way better than burning up a saw with a dull chain!

Ok for tools, the sine wave it generates is super dirty so it can damage computer equipment.

I tried to fiddle with an electric pump and a small generator. I ended up just buying a tiny Honda gas powered pump. I think it's a W15 or something.

My shop is a little smaller at 35x50. The 6" concrete floor and keeping the doors closed make me regret putting a coil on top of the furnace. It stays 72° in there during the summer.
