I reiterate, whatever your feelings about TR this is a legal conundrum, he has been arrested for…nothing, his rights have been infringed both here and in Canada, could happen to any of us, so up for discussion.

With good reason. Similarly in law the idea of "Audi alteram partem" - (essentially, let the other side be heard) has existed with good reason for a long time. This tyrannical Orwellian silencing nonsense that so characterises our times is very concerning. I've been on the receiving end of it myself. I'm still fighting it! Tommy Robinson is owed a huge apology by the UK, and it seems we can now add Canada to that list. No he's not lived a life of flawless virtue (though much of this is exaggerated) but then who has? And by now he is very much a man 'more sinned against than sinning'. By far. And any ad hominems made against him don't in and of themselves invalidate a word he says. Attack the argument not the man. They can't, so they go for him. As H.L Mencken said, "The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all." Those who don't condemn the utter immorality of how Robinson is treated simply because they disagree with his politics dangerously fail to grasp this. Well done for having him on.

Social media echo chambers make people less tolerant. Saw a friend at the weekend and we were discussing 4th July votes. They told me they'd stop speaking to anyone who voted Reform. I find this bizarre. I've friends on all sides and I enjoy hearing the differing views and reasoning. People seem to have forgotten that we only learn when our views are challenged.

You nailed this one. As a retired cop I frequently had to hold my nose and even defend people whose views I found abhorrent. These days though no one seems to have patience with anything they disagree with. How they ever form an opinion with such limited facts is beyond me.

My brother-in-law was a barrister (now a judge) and he explained to me exactly what you said when I asked him what it was like putting up a defence for some pretty awful criminals. Not nice was his answer but has to be done! It annoys me when people attack barristers saying "How could they defend such an awful person, he must be on their side". What a strange notion to have!

Many people live in an echo chamber of ideas and become very agitated when anyone in the chamber they have created goes against their majority view point.

I absolutely love this channel! I’ve had the “I’m going to unsubscribe” mob at times, I can just imagine them crying in their mum’s basement. I always like to hear both side of an argument, even if I do not agree with one side. A few years back (when I worked on site), I was doing a small job in the SHE office, I was discussing Covid and mentioned 9/11 to one of the SHE representatives, I told them that it was an inside job- she was shocked and suggested that when I get home, that I watch some videos of people “debunking” the 9/11 conspiracy theorists. I got home and found a documentary on TV about debunking the 9/11 conspiracy theorists, so I watched it! After the first few minutes I realised that the documentary was complete and utter nonsense, but I watched it until the end. It did not change my opinion of 9/11 at all. My late mother always used to say- you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. This has now been replaced with “you can show people the facts- but you can’t make them think” 😉

Good on you. Everyone is terrified of giving this man a voice.
