Had my 809 now for over a year, I wear it everyday at work in a ICU and shower with it. Not one problem with it. It has survived the pandemic so far and the excessive amount of alcohol... on my hands.

Mine too is quite precise : +2 seconds per day !!! But the difference with my black one, it is the movement version : the tan is 7S26B, and the black one is 7S26C, and this one is very lazy -15 seconds per day.

I've owned this for the last 2 years. Perfect daily wear for work. I work in an industrial area. Set it once, wear it everyday, keeps on running well. My fav is SNK 809, the black one coz it has black day date disc so it doesn't distract from the dial colour. The strap is crap, so changed it into nato strap. This piece especially the black one is really a strap monster. Easily can dress it up by giving it a nice dark brown leather strap. Or giving it military look like I did with green nato strap.

I have the cream one as well. A very modestly wearable size (although I enjoy larger watches as well) and a sweet combination of flieger and field watch. The bead blasted finish is well done, and the matching hardware on the strap brings it all together.

Recently just bought the black one actually! I’m a beginner and this will be my first automatic. I was sceptical at first with the limited water resistant...but I usually take my watches off when I’m swimming anyways. At the moment it is still being shipped to me and I haven’t received it. But now I’ve seen two reputable watch channels re-visit and review this watch this week! Makes me more excited and happy about my purchase! Thanks for the awesome video!

I gave one to each of my kids (6 and 9 years old) and let them wear them everywhere. In fact the Seiko bands don't fit, and they loved the idea of Speidel stretch bracelets-- to I put each one on an old Speidel for them. they wear them everywhere- swimming, playing-- you name it. They have survived so far. GREAT little watches. (and infinitely modd-able)

The SNK809 was my first mechanical watch too! I remember buying it off eBay from some seller in Asia. The crystal is scratched as heck, and I dropped it onto a hard floor once. The watch rotor even came loose at one point, so I had to open the back to tighten the screw. Through all that, it's still ticking :)

I bought a 807 as my first automatic a couple years ago and it’s still my favorite watch. Of course after a caliper of years of daily wear it has more than a few dings, at one point I decided to polish the case, chronically loose counterbalance, etc. Seriously considering picking up an 809 just to have one that isn’t all banged up. And I agree, even at almost $100 it still a great deal.

Me too. I have two of them. I bid on both on eBay and expected to win one, I won both. I kept one with the original band, and the other that came with a horrible Fossil nato style strap which I immediately swapped for a proper one in a better colour scheme, in my opinion. I love these because they’re small, and I’m a big guy. But the watch doesn’t get in my way like my SKX007 does. The crown doesn’t dig into my wrist, and I couldn’t care if someone thinks it’s a girls watch or not. Who cares. The tough little thing does the job. It’s one of the best watches on the market. Here’s why. 1. Smaller and lighter than “a real mans watch” 2. Doesn’t get in your way when working 3. Has day and date 4. Keeps relatively accurate time 5. Affordable without being cheap 6. Various colours make it easy to find a favourite colour

@@Visitor555 Seiko has a completely different supply chain than Cadisen. Seiko, the manufacturer, sells to distributors, who then sell to retailers like Mark. I'm pretty sure Cadisen is a manufacturer, who sells directly to customers via ali express. There's two less levels of middlemen making money thus the price difference. Even though Cadisen makes fine watches especially for the price, you can't really compare a company like Seiko which has been around since the 1800s and has significant horological history to Cadisen, which doesn't even have it's own website.

Of course, I had to go in and see what that was all about. I asked if he could put a sapphire crystal in my watch. He said, sure. I ended up leaving it with him and he mailed it to me a week or so later. Might have cost $30 or so. The SNK809 dial, with the hour markings on the smaller diameter inner ring and the minute markings on the larger diameter outer ring made so much sense, given that the hour hand is shorter and the minute hand is longer. So why did Seiko depart from this excellent arrangement with the SNZG15, merely because the case size was increased? Why not retain the SNK809s perfectly sensible dial layout?

I loved my SNK 805. I wore it so much more than my other watches, slapped it on a Barton leather and elevated to look. Then one day, I noticed that it was placed next to my portable speaker. Pretty much right next to it. I moved it so as not to expose it more than it had, but it was too late. I was at my job when I realized that it was ahead almost half an hour, and I had set it that morning. Turns out it was gaining a demagnetizer, and it slowed it way down. However, it went -6 a day to -23 a day. I was definitely heartbroken and began wearing my Kamasu mostly. I think it's time to tinker.

I find it funny when people compare them with chinese obscure brand watches. There’s really no comparison. You get a brand name watch that is respectable in any circles, the build quality is amazing for the price, the case, the water resistance is way beyond the specs suggest (it has a serious glass gasket, crown gaskets and protected, and a good case back gasket), the design is great feels like someone really put some thought into it, the quality of the printing is way beyond the asking price. The movement will not win accuracy awards but it will win durability awards.

It's early 2022, and there's a lot of discussion on these watch channels about high-value, low-priced Fliegers from that offshore seller, but many of them are big, like 40mm plus with 50-ish mm lug-to-lug. That, to me, is too big for a "modern" Type B. I know the original Fliegers were 55mm, but nobody is going to actually wear a clock on his or wrist in 2022, right? All that said, the SNKs are probably still the best modern interpretation of the 1940s Flieger. I'm not a licensed pilot, but I I logged many hours of flight with the US Navy before a vision issue forced me to choose another field. On every flight, my backup time piece was a US-made "Type A" of 37mm or thereabouts. It was not quite ideal, but the Type B outer ring in 5-second intervals (or 5-minute) fixes that. In the cockpit, to time a turn or other maneuver in IFR conditions, this Type B design is perfect, and so is this size. Choose your color, and buy an SNK80X while you still can. Or buy a bigger one. But add a Type B to your watch box.

The SNK809 was my first auto. As affordable as they are now, they used to be even cheaper. Bought mine about 4 years ago on Amazon for 53 bucks. lol They really are great watches though. I’ve beat the heck out of mine, and it still runs perfectly.

I have a snk807 and love the watch. I did not care for the strap at all. Felt like it was all plastic and not enough nylon. Very stiff and scratchy. I put it on a NATO and love wearing this watch.

Am I the only one confused with the ending? Marc, were you talking to us??? LOL I got one of these about two years ago (also inspired by TGV) as I wanted something relatively inexpensive to wear without care. Not my first mechanical watch by any means, but there's just something about the simplicity of that 7S26 that just fascinates me. It immediately became a regular in my collection and has definitely seen more wrist time than my SKX or any other beater watch. And it is a strap monster no doubt. I sport it on a grey seat belt nato (from LIW), a brown leather with stitching, and the original black nylon and it just pairs up great with anything. Mine does run a little too fast but I generally rotate it within a weeks time so it never gets too crazy. Excellent watch I would recommend to anyone!

I've had 50% success with these watches. My 807 has been running well since day one. My 803 bonked on day one, its replacement arrived DOA, and ITS replacement bonked again within a week. I have the one, and intend not to get another... unless they make this watch in a 42mm :-D

I hope Seiko keeps making these, I love them. Perhaps you know: I'm trying to find out whether the snk80x watches are military-STYLE watches, or whether they actually are (or were) standard military equipment. I'm also trying to find out whether anybody, in any line of work, actually needs to wear a watch any more. I know there are military guys who wear these and SAY that it's more than a fashion statement, but then, people SAY all sorts of things. I'd think that if a military watch was actually necessary today, the G-Shock would be the go-to long before anything mechanical.

I’ve had my SNK809 for ten years. It recently went through the wash and still works. The only permanent damage I found after opening it up is that the pins on the dial snapped. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for this original dial? I’ve found a couple fun and interesting options, but I really like the look of the dial that came in the original watch.

Still have my green and black dial. I bought an aftermarket black leather strap for my black dial, but found myself always drawn back to the green. The tan would look great on a green NATO. It would look a bit like my white dial Hamilton mechanical field.

this was my first automatic, but have since discontinued wearing it daily, had it on a nato strap and it got lightly snagged and pulled one of the watch lug pins right out, back to my fake rolex for daily use again, i prefer a stainless strap for daily use as i work on the water find it drys quicker and is more durable for snags etc
Why do people buy these UGLY watches?
