Tribute to Hindi film music composer Ramlal, the creator of such beautiful songs like "“pankh hote to ud aatee re”, "tum to pyaar ho sajna", "taqdeer ka fazaana", "tere khayaalon mein hum" and "geet gaaya patharon ne", on his death anniversary today.
Ramlal Chaudhary was one of the most neglected music directors of the Hindi film industry, yet he composed some everlasting melodies. Ramlal composed immortal songs for films like 'Sehra', 'Husnbaano','Geet Gaaya Patharon Ne', 'Nakaab posh' and 'Naaglok'.
Ramlal, an accomplished shehnai and flute player himself, started working as an assistant with composer Ram Ganguly for Prithvi theatre. In 1948 he played Flute and Shahnai in many songs for composer Ram Ganguli in 'Aag', Raj Kapoor’s debut film as director.

Hamara Kan ko jo gana badhiya lagata vo hi uttam gana hota hai. Chahe wo naushad ka ho ya ramlal ne sangit diya ho. Ramalalji ke behatarin ganoko mera naman hai.

It was not Vijay Bhatt But V Shantaram who spoiled his career.It is learnt that Ramlal offended him on some behaviour issue. His wife used to do a nurse job to run the family. He was also called Ramlal Heera Panna because he used to wear a Heera on one Ear and Panna on the other ear. He had to eventually sell it. This information is derived from an article by Shree Ashok Bhatt in Gujarat Samachar daily news published from Ahmedabad, as remembered till date.
