TODAY'S GUEST:
Meet Magnus Grimeland, a multimillionaire who has lived in Singapore for 10 years. A former classmate of Mark Zuckerberg and Eduardo Saverin, he is the co-founder of Asia's biggest fashion marketplace, Zalora, and now runs the business accelerator Antler. Magnus explains why Singapore is an ideal place for building startups, whether Singaporeans are hustlers enough to start businesses, and why he still chooses to rent despite being very well-off. Enjoy!

IMO, one of the main reasons that why Singapore is successful on the world stage, is that the bright minds gather the best ideas during their work and travels, optimize and fine tune it before implementation. Everyone one benefits from the most optimized and efficient of those good ideas. Only in Singapore does the HDB (public housing) and CPF (retirement savings) works for generations, and more generations to come. These models are being refined to cater to the ever evolving macro-economy for the benefits of everyone living and working in Singapore.

A singapore police gurkha would be unique. They are foreigners who are well respected by both the rest of the Singapore police as well as militaries all over the world, yet are deliberately prevented from integrating. Like singapore, their country is also one of the few that's proud of their history in being a part of the british empire. They are proud to serve singapore just like many of the expats you interviewed, but their reasons behind that could possibly be very different. The gurkhas have played an important role in singapore's history and are still playing an important role today, being able to understand them better would be interesting.

World most expensive country to buy a car but taxi & ride hailing ride fare are way very low comparing to other countries like Japan, Australia, London & the list continues. Have anyone ever thought about it, driver daily overhead such as rental/lease, petrol, carpark and many more.... everything are getting expensive but fare most of the time are still pathetic. For driver, more daily trips plus longer working hours. How to have work life balance like that? Western tourists also wonder and ask driver how they earn with low ride fares in Singapore.
@pgobservers
@pgobservers 8 ай бұрын
Recently, a KZfaq challenge in Singapore showcased a ride-hailing service, where participants aimed to achieve a $800 fare within a 12-hour period. Surpassing expectations, many participants not only met but exceeded this goal, with one individual reaching an impressive $1200. This highlights that the ride-hailing service in Singapore can be quite lucrative, challenging the notion that it is not a viable option. 21:48

I thought this video would be very interesting because it’s a guest from Nordic country, but sad to say I find this interview like a cold over-night dish. @jxjx You have a valid point but I also want to illustrate a point on the irony: For example, a guy broadcast on social media on his care for environment and climate change. Yet he is a regular shopper on SHEIN , the popular ultra-fast fashion online retailer. We are quite familiar with SHEIN biz strategy and disposable fashion is an environmental disaster and waste. Isn’t that ironic and hypocritical?

The Singapore public must learn to take credit for the success of the country. Yes, Uncle Harry inspired people and lighted the spark in them. His early speeches were like firecrackers going off. But if the majority of the citizens were incapable of greatness, the island would be a sad place that wasted all the potential it had. Many countries are like that.
