not on Koh Lanta where roads are 12 foot square concrete slabs with v-shaped mounds every ten feet interspersed with 8 inch deep potholes and gravel patches, and sudden roadworks with deep mud and a 6 inch deep tire trail to follow to get through it safely. I was shocked and so disheartened when I saw the news. This was my dream bike when I first started riding in 2012. I Just bought a brand new 2023 model in green/silver. This bike is fantastic. I commute with it and joy ride. Its exceptional for commuting as its so compact, you can split through traffic with confidence, especially since you are nearly always in optimal torque range. I've ridden my for hours before and never had any issues with comfort (I'm 36 years old too). This is such a horrible decision on Triumph's part. Thankfully I finally purchased one before end of production. And I feel I have the best colorway too. I also have the Triumph Bobber, which is actually the funnest bike I've ever rode before. Triumph Bonneville engines are superb, such a shame to end this model.

How is it a horrible decision. The stats show that its not a high volume selling bike. Its a lovely looking bike with a great engine but for most people it is really uncofortable after riding it for an hour and on top of that it is quite pricey. For most people this would be like a good 2nd or 3rd bike in the garage, one that you pop on out with to go to get some ice cream or a coffee run. But most people can only afford one bike these days so it just doesn't have a market. The Speed Twin has the same engine and I bet they will release a Speed Twin RS soon with more premium parts and maybe even more power.

I hear ya. Just the look of the Thruxton makes me want to ride. That said, I don't own one and would find it hard to fit into my riding lifestyle that mixes local and long distance. On the bright side for current owners, I imagine this will mean that the value for Thruxtons will increase.

Like you I bought a `23 model in green/silver earlier this year. Never before owned a bike that attracts attention like this one. Where ever I park up someone will come over and admire it and start chatting. Never had any comfort problems. In fact the more I ride the more I want to carry on riding. Such a shame they are stopping production but Triumph are in the business to make money so if a model does not sell I can understand why it would finish it. Just sorry it had to be the best looking and best sounding cafe racer on the market.

Test rode the chrome one today. Coming from an sv650 first bike, I wasn't sure what to expect. I guess I kinda hoped it would have a similar torquey sporty feeling. About five seconds into the ride I got a huge smile and started giggling. The way it rips you forward when you Crack the throttle, the sound emanating from the thing when you blip a downshift or roll up to a stop, the stunning looks and perfect proportions, the way it lets you flick it around while feeling like you have control, the massive brakes that come on predicably.... ❤ I still love my sv, but it's gonna get some well earned rest in April when my final edition order arrives.

I have the original 2016 Thruxton R release bike in its gloss ice silver metallic and lashing of aluminium and chrome finishes. That initial bike was the Thruxton at its finest. The colour schemes since then have looked a bit awkward and detracted from the pure beauty of the original. I wanted to buy a new one in 2019 but by then the ice silver gloss had become a mat finish which I hated so I bought a used 2016 one in the ice silver gloss which I love. Nearly went for the chrome edition for this year but again did not like all the blacked out aluminium casings / wheels etc.

Had the Thruxton900 for a while( wasn’t too impressed with its performance and braking but comfort was excellent for me) and then finally made the switch to the 1200R and was the best decision. The Thruxton is a motorcycling work of art. I bought a 2021 Speed Twin over the Thruxton as I preferred the riding position.I had a early air cooled Thruxton and didn’t want a repeat of the painful riding position with clip ons. I added black Ohlins rear shocks and the Thruxton throttle body covers to my Speed Twin.

I went to Triumph initially for a Thruxton but it’s almost impossible to find one to test in France. I tried the Speed Twin 1200 and loved its engine and character and finally bought one. It’s a beautiful bike for sure. I was checking out a lightly used very low mileage 2016 last weekend at a local dealership. That being said I do see why they are discontinuing it. It’s really a 2nd or 3rd bike that you will only use for short runs or to take to shows. The price it sells for is most likely out of the range of most young people who have the back for long rides and the older dudes like me who have the cash don’t have the body for long rides. Just my .02 which really means little.

I noticed the same. I managed to find a nice one from 2016 that I could manage, however most younger people realize that we have the rest of our lives to buy something classy, so we need to get the sporty bug out of our system. So, I ended up with a 21' Street Triple R which manages a bit of both.

The upright riding position of the Speed Twin is simply easier to live with for long rides. Either put upright handlebars and a 2-person seat on the Thruxton or put the fancy suspension and other bits on the 1200 Speed Twin. The paint finish on the Thruxton looks way better than the Speed Twin. Cruise control and heated grips need to be standard for any sold in northern climates.

To say his bike is uncomfortable is a bit of a joke. I am 64 and can ride this bike for 12 hour 300km round trips with no problems. It's actually more comfortable than my 2017 T120 was on the motorway because that lean forward position means you resist wind better and you don't feel like you hanging off scaffolding or your neck was going to break like I did on my T120 at anything over 120km/hr. A very sad day for Triumph fans.

@@antonstayduhar8748 So your average speed is 92.30km/hr? You should be in moto GP or in jail. Well I should have said 12 hour days - that includes time spent at the garage getting serviced. The actual riding time is about 3.5 hours for a one way trip of 288km but then I have to get home again so that's 576km in total. Google maps tells me a 288km trip takes 3hr 11mins which in real time works out at nearly 4hrs with 1fuel and refreshments stop and traffic jams etc. That works out at an average speed of 72km/hr which isn't too bad.

I have a thruxton 900 but when the 1200's came along I knew I wanted to upgrade but having two thruxton seemed excessive. So when the speed twin came out it was the perfect combo for me

sad to see it go, sure that will be an appreciating classic down the road. i did a recent survey in the triumph forum and almost everyone said if you could buy the bonnervile t120 but with the HP engine from thruxton everyone would buy it ! people want the looks and comfortable position of the bonnie but with the extra poke of the thruxton! its the bike triumph should be making !

An amazing ride and beautiful bike but I found it tiring on the wrists ... Maybe made for a more slim fit but it was truly a joy to experience.

I've had the honour of riding the very first '04 model of a few occasions. While it mightn't have had all the bells and whistles of today's bike, it was still a very good motorcycle, especially following a much welcomed suspension upgrade. I'm not one to lean on handlebars, so I never complain about the weight on my wrists, but I haven't forgotten the weight on my lower back or the fact that my knees were bent at a rather unnatural angle. The curse of this bike is that it's a young person's bike. That's not a bad thing, except it comes at a price point that is beyond many younger riders, financially sensible ones, at least. Therein lies the curse. I've got a sneaking suspicion that we're going to see a Showa/Ohlins/big Brembo equipped Speed Twin or some sort of Bonneville take its place. A bike that old men (me!) can both ride and afford. And I've also got a sneaking suspicion that the Triumph catalogue will come with optional clubman/clip on bars and rear sets for those who want to make a cafe racer out of it. This might be the last time we see a Triumph Thruxton, but it won't be the last time that we see a Triumph cafe racer.

What can a poor boy do ? a bike for commuting, one for Himalayan touring and a Thruxton for looking in shop windows on Sunday. Couldn't be easier.

I own a 2016 TTR and love it but I am getting up into my upper 50s now and comfort is becoming an issue. If Triumph updated the Speed Twin with Ohlins shocks and the brake setup on a TTR, I would be all over it. The Thruton is a joy to ride and looks like a piece or motorcycle art. Sorry to hear it is being discontinued.

Well, it's obviously not the end of the Bonneville lineup - it's just the Thruxton sub-model. I think the platform lends itself better to a standard seating position anyway, and the Scrambler where you can make it a bit more rough around the edges works too. I keep seeing people post images of customized Scramblers with fat offroad tires and accessories asking what it is, as well. Some people no doubt love a Thruxton, but it's just a smaller percentage.

Its beautiful this final edition. Even better if the rims were gold/bronze. With the Thruxton gone maybe Triumph will finally launch a Speed Twin RS with the Ohlins suspensions

Speed twin with Thruxton equipments - seal the deal for me. It's pain to ride Thruxton even though I love the style. My ST765RS was park for many months. Doesn't enjoy the ride anymore.

I have one and do ride it sometimes for hours with out problem. If you really do have problems, there are lots of options to move the clipons up. The racing green looks so good in person but never quite so good in photos. I would have liked to see a little more on the Final Edition like sport cans.

The last true production Retro Cafe Racer was the Ducati Sport Classic - unfortunately built too early to catch the Cafe Racer Wave - it was stopped in 2008 and Ducati dealers had real trouble shifting them - Fast forward to 2014 and I KNEW the market was going mad when I sold my 2007 Ducati SC for £8500 (bought it for £5k 18 months earlier) Cafe Racers were HOT then so when I heard of the new Thruxton in 2015 I prayed it would be like the Ducati effort - Good looking, Retro, Great brakes, handling and Power - it was all I dreamed for!...Okay they watered the looks down (Black Rims on a Cafe Racer - WTF???) but still a unique package that lifted your heart....Trouble was it cost £££ ...The Speed Twin with same engine but £3000 less was bound to outsell it - and it did, Sadly I can't blame Triumph for dumping the Thruxton when it was being outsold 3 to 1!

If they have discontinued the Thruxton and the Speed Twin is the bike to carry on maybe Triumph could put the goodys off the Thruxton on the Speed Twin suspension etc.

I have the 2021 Showcase Thruxton RS. The riding position is not that extreme although I can see how the ST would appeal in this regard although iI suspect it lacks a bit of grunt when touring with mates.

BOB- I own a 2006 Thruxton, and don't have any plans to sell it! It has the manly clip-on bars which seem to engender a lot of whining from softy critics, but I like the setup fine. The final version's green and gold colors are stunning (my bike is black with a checkerboard stripe). Bob
