But he was always completely decent to Sansa and he actually loved Myrcella and Tommen. He was forthwith with Jon Snow. He had a soft spot for the underprivileged or innocent. And he paid his debts. He was quite an admirable villain.

no character in the books is good but Tyrion still comes close. He's a drunk womanizer but still very easy to root for all things considered. The show handled him pretty well the first 6 seasons or so😊

Pretty sure they never consummated the marriage, Tyrion wanted to but hated the fact that the only people he slept with didn’t really want him, so he never did. I don’t believe it was for her sake tho

He refused to do it because his father wanted him too. He admits to Bronn and Jamie on different occasions he wanted too and intended too but refused too out of spite for his father. Book tyrion isnt show tyrion. Show tyrion got bleached when he became a fan favorite.

He did want to sleep with her but didn’t see what pleasure he’d get out of it since Sansa would simply be doing it out of duty and Tyrion was aware she resented all Lannisters. Disobeying his father was another aspect of it but not the only one.Tyrion doesn’t wanna rape the girl if anything because of his experience with Tysha.

Peter Dinklage is actually one of the best looking men in the cast. As such, he really doesn't resemble "the imp" as described in the book. Maybe that made him a more sympathetic character in the series than he really should have been. Because in the books he is somewhat deformed, not simply a dwarf. In both the books & the series he became what he was at least partially because of circumstances over which he had no say or control. But it wasn't as relevant or based on equal factors. Peter Dinklage did/does NOT look like an" imp" as described in the books.

@AniSwiftTVRecaps he is not on the right path at all. He is completely motivated by revenge. He kills Nurse near the end of Dance. He plans to join Dany just to watch Westeros burn. And Penny represents his potential for redemption, and he rejects what she stands for. In fact, there's a decent chance Tyrion cluld kill Penny. Tyrion is on a path towards destruction.

Man this was so fucked up. Joffery made Sansa marry Tyrion. He didnt want to marry him and he didnt want to marry her. He never made her. He was one of the only men in the seven kingdoms who wouldnt have forced himself on her.

You do realize that book Tyrion, and show Tyrion, are basically two completely different people? What they are showing in this clip is what actually happens in the book... They made the character a lot more likeable for the series, than he is there, in the source material. That was the point of the reply; Even after seeing this clip and knowing what he's actually like in the book you were trying to defend him...

Tywin made Tyrion marry Sansa tho. Interestingly Sansa chose Tyrion over the better looking Lancel. As I read it, it was less the looks that made Sansa not want Tyrion, but rather that Tyrions family robloxed most of the people Sansa cared about and the experiences she had with the last Lannister she was promised to.

It seems icky and nasty cuz without context makes you think geroge is writing this for fun he is not he is writing the reality for these girls in this time period and tyrion is later mocked for doing the right thing and not sleeping with sansa yes he was lustfull torwards her and yes that wrong but he did not act on it like alot of other men in these books do the context is sansa being use for her titles and sold off to make babes it shows the sad reality for these young girls and what goes thru these mens mind and this 1 time tyrion is better than most but then later goes on to sa a other woman an stuff completely taking away my sympathy for him but he was better than most in this world in this 1 scene most men would have took without a sec thought about how she felt hell ramsey mairres a widow for her lands he sa her then locks her up in a tower till see starves to death

I would say George didn't write Tyrion to be better than most in this instance, just basically humane, although most of his motivations aren't related to Sansa's comfort or inner problems in any way, he's focused on himself and his wants and problems which is what causes his own loss of the game.

Sadly u cant get an ugly actor to play a character that important. Tyrion is one of the main draws of the show and it wouldnt have worked for telivision if he was ugly. Casuals wouldnt have cared that he's fun and witty and complex.

He could've easily played the villainous Tyrion from the books. D&D made him that way in the show. George RR Martin himself said in some interview they didn't even consider auditioning anyone else for Tyrion except Peter Dinklage, and had he refused they had no idea what they'd do.

As much as it makes people uncomfortable the sexualisation of child characters in a song of ice and fire by the world really makes the world so much more complicated and dirty. The experiences shape the character, and whenever younger characters are in these situations the damage it causes and darkness of the very idea is always at the forefront

@@emperorconstantinexipalaio4121 yeah I get that, I think Martin just wanted to create a horrible world so that the few good characters there are, you actually vouch for and want them to accomplish their goals and then when such characters like Ned or Robb die, it actually hurts you as a reader/ viewer. I think his writing is a master piece and the world is perfect for that “realistic” nature of horrific people and events whilst obviously exaggerating what it was like for medieval times

No, but in the books he really lusts for her. Tyrion isn’t much of a good guy in the books, but he really craves approval and has a soft spot for broken people, so he does control himself here, but not so much after the Taisha reveal, he basically rapes a prostitute and swears to kill Jaime, Cersei and their children. Also Shae doesn’t attack him like in the show, or even defend herself, he just kills her, and doesn’t display any emotion afterwards, she begs for her life, claiming she was afraid of Tywin, but he just keeps going.

No, they go further in the books as is discussed here, but they never sleep together. Tyrion is lustful towards Sansa and he intends to go through with it, but Sansa is visibly scared and uncomfortable which makes Tyrion back off in hopes that she will warm up to him someday once they know eachother better, but she never does. For good reason honestly, since he’s twice her age, and his family almost wiped out hers.
