Few things I want to point out. 1. Euro Cup in Cricket already exists. But teams like England and recently even Ireland, Scotland and Wales don't send their main teams. They send their amateur XIs to play in it. Google "European Cricket Championship". You will come to know 2. Wales National Cricket team has played in Euro Cup as well as friendly matches against England. But they are not recognised. They even were allowed to take part in World Cup qualifiers in 1979 despite not having a seperate membership. 3. Ireland fields seperate teams only in Football and Commonwealth games. Actually Republic of Ireland doesn't participate in CWG. Also Golf players like Rory McIlroy to represent their Northern Irish flag. But in most of the sports, Ireland fields a composite team.

Republic of Ireland doesn't compete in the CWG because its not in the commonwealth.When Ireland became a republic ,republics were not allowed to join.They can now but it there is very little interest in rejoining unless in the context of all island republic.
