Thank you for always encouraging! For this year I plan to take my sketchbook everywhere I go. And find more time to sketch and train my skills. The first sketchbook I filled hold your precious lessons from The 25 Days of Sketchbook Challenge. It is important for me: valuable lessons that from time to time I enjoy to look at and remember why and how it all started for me. But for my next one filled, I hope creativity will speak through me and my hands. I know the more I practice the more I will enjoy this journey.

I have several “study” notebooks where I have color charts, experiments with techniques, and recipes for the colors I’ve made on paintings so I can refer to them in the future.

I believe the sketchbook is the place to practice and make notes. I also have swatching sketchbooks. For my watercolor books, I call them "paint books". My graphite and colored pencil are sketch books. I admit I do not spend nearly enough time in my books because I want to do big projects. I love the Edith Holden book you found. I want it!

You can start small. For example color notes. As you like to travel you can make travel sketchbook. For example as are staying in one place, pick a flower or leaf, paint it loosely and write down your thoughts, ideas, challenges or memories of that place. Start will always be intimidating, but as you will do it more you will become more fluent at this and will fall in love ❤️

Hiya Kristine, Edith Holden is one of my all time heroeines, not just for her love of the natural world and artistry, but as a person. At a time when Women had to fight for everything, she followed her own path and was so incredibly strong and resolute in her approach to life, and showed great kindness and respect for the life of others. Tragically suffering a terrible death by drowning, following her passion. A true inspiration. Thank you Kristine and take care, David. xxx

Wonderful video! A great idea and explanation. Loved seeing your beautiful work. Most of the tutorial work or painting of my own references takes me forever to finish. I love this idea for meaningful practice and small "works of art" that can be finished in a shorter time and done alongside of the longer works. Thank you for the inspiration! 😍😊

I love nature. I just might need the watercolor mixing. Sketchbook. Mixing is probably the hardest for me. My colors never seem to come out the same even when I do a color study. I did your brown study but mixing them again for a painting was not the same. 1 part red,1 part blue, 2 parts yellow

I love your swatch cards, but I want to learn that How you memorize the ratio of different colors in any specific shades. You make different shades by mixing different colors yourself. How every time you make same or exact shade matches with your swatch card. Thanks in anticipation 🌺

It all comes with practice. But even if I get slightly different color tone - no problem. Painting can only benefit from slightly different color tone. Nothing is identical in Nature. There are so many shades of same color
