You’ve got me thinking if we should try math with confidence again. We are in the K level in Singapore primary 2022 and the other day he cried. I’m wondering if I should try again math with confidence kindergarten and see if we can fly through it. 🤔

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that Singapore is causing him frustration 😞! I remember how helpless I felt when I saw my daughter get so overwhelmed and upset by it too. You said try MWC “again,” meaning you were using it before? Was there a reason you moved away from it and started using Singapore Math? I know every kiddo is different, especially when it comes to math lol, but I’ve heard great success stories from other moms who used MWC with their kiddos too and our kids are all different types of learners. So it seems to work well with any kind of learner in my limited experience! 🥰

@@MaryBarfield yes we started off with MWC but it was ok. I think I think it was more of a me problem not liking the layout, however, I think I should have given it more time. I

It took me about a week or two to find my organization/rhythm with the curriculum also and once I did, it worked! 🥰

We are ending our first year of homeschool. We will be kindergarten in the fall. Can you do a video, very soon, on all the different companies who provide curriculum? I feel there should be more than what I have found.

I love dimensions and used it 2nd to 5th with my daughter, BUT it just didnt work for my daughter and we even tried their video lessons. It also is an advanced curriculum. Their 5th grade is really 6th grade math.So she is moving to Denison math. My son is more of a mental math guy so dimensions is working well for him but its just k math right now. I really do love it but ve aware, its advanced.

Hi there! Wondering your opinion. I have one child who is entering 1st grade and will just turn 6 yrs old at end of August so he is a young first grader. He’s also very smart but not yet tested for giftedness (I also know a lot of parents don’t test their homeschoolers). I was intrigued by your video which I came across searching for Singapore math info. It’s one curriculum mentioned for gifted kids but I’m also worried that being just a young 6 year old that first grade math may be too much or too hard. Then you mentioned Math with Confidence which I hadn’t heard of before. Any thoughts or advice you can give? We had a doctor who randomly showed him how to multiply one year ago. We’ve done nothing with that since. Last month our son asked us during his nighttime routine what the answer to 2x3 was. We don’t answer but he figured it out. He could do small numbers on his own. 👀

It sounds like your son is similar to my daughter! She turned 6 right before the beginning of her 1st grade year and is exceptionally bright, which is why I thought Singapore would be a great fit for her. But personally, for her, it just didn't connect well, which is funny since Math with Confidence does, and it's mental math, mastery based, and Singapore based! All the same as Singapore Primary, but Math with Confidence approached it in a way that seemed gentler, but was quite rigorous. MWC is a program that challenges students, but in a fun way that is age appropriate. I think your best bet would be to check out the samples on welltrainedmind.com of Math with Confidence and maybe try out a lesson or two with your son! Unfortunately Singapore doesn't provide much in the way of sample so you can't really try that out unless you have a friend who has it? Hopefully trying out MWC will give you an idea of what direction you should go in for your son! :)

What did you use for Kindergarten math? Were your kids in public school?

My current first grader attended a charter school for her kindergarten year last year and they used a singapore style program (I think it was called Math in Focus). However, we are currently using Math with Confidence K for her younger sister, my current Pre-K (4.5 year old) and we are loving it!
