the fact that this is on adult swim really gives the wrong impression. i was expecting some kind of weird anti-comedy, which I guess it is, but i prefer to take the show at face value and it is really a pleasant and sincere show

Joe has no irony to him. In a post-modern world it is heart warming and relieving to see someone so sincere and innocent. He's like a modern day Mr.Rogers.

Joe pera talks with you is an over-the-counter anti-depressant. in a good way.

It’s weird how much Joe Pera grows on you. First impressions are ‘what the fuck is this?’ Then he just becomes this warm blanket of gentle, endearingly odd comedy.

I am very pleased that this show is getting a 3rd season this fall, every episode is a gem especially ones like when he goes to the store or a breakfast diner, or even just talking about a new song he enjoys.

Ive got a genetic disease which effects my nervousystem so i constantly get really bad bouts of anxiety paranoia insomnia and fluxuating heart rate and blood preassure the best way i can describe it as if you are having a bad mushroom trip without the fun effects. Joe pera is the few things that calms me down and helps ground me in reality. I honestly dont know if id still be here without his 10 hour joe pera talks video on adult swim.

I met Joe after a standup show in Cleveland earlier this month. He's just as wonderful in person. I randomly mentioned a book and his first response was to Google the book and say it sounded good and he was going to buy it. So perfect. I can't wait to see this man live again.

I'm so glad Joe Pera's show is on adult swim I honestly think it's the perfect place for it despite being pretty much the polar opposite of everything adult swim is known for. His show is some unyieldingly sincere the fact that you're likely to see in it a place where you normally go for pessimistic, ironic, absurdist comedy is great. Like you tune into adult swim after a long week of work looking for what you want (irony) only to find what you need (sincerity)

I went to see Joe do some standup recently and waited after to meet him, he’s not playing a character. Who he is in the show is who he is in real life, such a wonderful guy to meet

When I was young, I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder, along with also diagnosed with ADHD. I've always have had trouble sleeping due to stress and anxiety. But then recently discovering Mr. Pera's show. At first I thought it was just weird comedy and a big thing about "anti-comedy". Yet the more I watched him, I feel at calm. I feel at peace. This charming old man trapped in a young man's body speaks to me about random stuff, telling jokes puts me at a sense of comfort. It puts me to sleep, and it makes me feel happy. People should watch him more, just because he is like anti-depressant as a person.

I've always loved how Adult Swim understands their audience. Everything from the absurd shows like ATHF to the artistic Off The Air shorts, and now with Joe Pera Talks With You. From the outside it looks like an unrelated jumble of content but I think it all works together extremely well. It's like a collage.

Joe reminds me a bit of Mr. Rogers...maybe its the sweater vest...or the kindness both present to others, as well as the viewer

I have tried for years to explain to people who didn't grow up with it, why southerners are polite. Why they speak to each person they meet with a, "yes Ma'am", or "yes sir", "Thank you Ma'am", "have a good day", and, "good morning". It seems so superficial and fake when it's pointed out to me by people not used to it. I could never put into simple words why anyone would take the time to tell a complete stranger something so inane as, "Have a good day". It is a simple way of inviting people into a common ideal, and to express pleasantness. We are inviting strangers to step out of the everyday baseline drudgery, and join the human family we feel a part of. An invitation to conversation, and a respect/appreciation of a persons everyday struggles. I hope to change my attitude when struggling with boredom, or seeming daily drudgery. can't believe the show was cancelled. favorite show to ever, EVER hit my screens. i hope another network decides to continue on this gem. i have seen lives change in real time from this show and his overall comedy, mine being one of them. it deserves to be continued and concluded the right way. long live jptwy. joe is a genuine time piece. * by the way, i've met joe at his show in pittsburgh in june. we discussed several things, one of them being grief and how cast members in the time of season one had all each lost loved ones and how it's shaped the show to help the cast and the audience themselves. he was warm, silly and so comforting. they say never meet your heroes, and he is the person that truly surpasses that saying and goes above and beyond to stay to his kindness and craft. literally the exact person you'd expect him to be, he just is.

Joe Pera talks with you is easily one of the most natural feeling shows. I've never seen a show that felt so real and lived in. Everything from the medicine on the shelves to the delivery of the lines.

When I was young, whenever I’d spend time with my grandparents in the mountains, we would often go out doing things like picking raspberries to make jam, or walks around the neighbourhood, etc. At the time I was often impatient and wanted to get it done, but ive come to value those memories so much. Just the peaceful pleasure my grandparents took from going about their life by simply being present left a deeply lasting impact on me, and while in the midst of life I often forget about it, I find great peace trying to live as they do. In comparison to the ‘this is water’ speech, I see my grandparents as the old fish, and the water as being present and mindful. Great video with a great message, keep up the good work

The music is a HUGE part of what makes Joe Pera content so special. Also the slow camera movements and transitions. It all complements his whole demeanor so well. I love it. I also love pancakes. 🥞

i just started watching this show a few days ago and i absolutely fell in love with it. everything about it is just so great. the music especially is a really great part of the show. the whole atmosphere and feeling of it is so relaxing. i definitely feel like this is the greatest show ive seen. it's so unique and very refreshing

On his grocery shopping list link I'm still really glad about submitting "bag of rice" and it being added to the list lol. Lord, I love this show and I'm so glad it's back for another season.

My childhood Dog passed away a month ago and it really broke me, I was so sad that day and wanted to do nothing. I finally decided to watch the show after watching the two sleep episodes and his specials on youtube over and over again. And holy, When I got to the fall drive episode I cried pretty hard, But it really helped me and watching the show over the week was such a huge help for me, It instantly became one of my top 2 favorite shows. So sad to hear it’s not being renewed “for now” Was looking forward to going back to see joe soon, Hope Adult swim changes their minds sooner rather than later. Probably the best show I have ever seen more people need to know how truly great this show is how bright it makes you feel.

I think the reason we find Joe so beloved is because he reminds us to slow down and "be here" for a moment... and appreciate it.

Wow I love this. I’m an adult swim consumer myself and also have seen some of the animated snowy joe pera video. I tried to watch it and enjoyed the ambiance but couldn’t get fully comfortable because I was anticipating some jolt of sound or some abstract/grotesque visual to interrupt/subvert the feeling. I’ve never finished the video because of that reason but now I’m gonna go back to it to help me fall asleep. Thank you ☺️

Joe Pera had hit me in such an intense beautiful way- especially as a young adult who is coming into myself. It’s incredible and soft and lovely. I can’t stop falling deeper in love with it. And it’s cancelation today- announced by Joe on Twitter- really makes me sad. I’m greatly happy for the three seasons he and everyone he worked with made, but it’s one of those rare glimmers of true honesty in the processed industry of TV.

In a world filled with nihilism, selfishness, depression and overall problems. It’s nice to have a Joe Pera to unwind with once in a while. Even daily. I’m sick of modern media, of current events (mainly because people make the problems themselves) and our current culture. We all need to be more like Joe Pera... Or how about. Just good people? Is that so hard?

God I miss this show so much. I honestly didn't even discover it until after it was canceled, but I started watching it when I was in a severe depression and it basically pulled me out of it. Watching the end of season 3 and realizing "this is all there is" felt so bad.

I'm 17 & Autistic and to deal with school after the first month or so in of a new year can end up being pretty overwhelming, no matter which grade. Before ever hearing about Joe Pera or reading David Foster Wallace's This is Water speech, I've been trying to ignore the kinds of annoying and miserable possibilities that Wallace talks about and that come to me often heightened by sensory issues and sometimes a sense of social exclusion. It takes a lot of effort even at my age to try to be so aware, it can be pretty exhausting at times, and I know it could very well get more necessary as I explore adulthood. But trying to be like Wallace's ideal or like Joe Pera is, for me at least, a surefire recipe for a calm serenity and even color when things are just a lot.

Living a small quiet life, where you take care of those around you, you create a huge net positive in the world. Thinking globally while acting locally. If you take time to make others around you feel comfortable to be themselves, and make them feel like a momentary friend, you can plant seeds of prosperity for them. Often times we have no idea what others are going through.

Joe is in one of Conner O'Malley's videos. It's one of the truth hunters videos. That's the only thing I saw with him as a different character

I found Joe Pera the exact way like to the T. I’m glad you see him the same as me. After that little animated video I searched for anything else like it and I came across his show and bought it up all immediately just to have that peaceful serene release by watching him and seeing how he took all the mundane things in life and enjoyed every bit of it. He teaches you to take it slow and to not be anxious about your current state in life but be thankful you are experiencing it. It’s funny too cause in one of my classes they showed us David Foster Wallace’s speech and your video just stringed these two perfectly together. Loved the video, keep at it :)

I just discovered him in a larger adult swim "special broadcast" and immediately got scared because I was convinced the show would take the easy cynical rout of crushing this lovely character for a nihilistic comedic bit I was delighted to find out this wasn't the case.

Same story as with sad blanket on discovering the first Joe Pera video, with the difference that... I laughed uncontrollably for hours that night - somehow the humour hit on the nail so well on how the "calm, sleep inducing self-help" videos we're all so similar and low-effort. And just the essence of Joe Pera, when one really tends to overthink their or their works' importance and problems. Random thought-patterns are so inviting. :)

Hey! I was genuinely surprised to see that you only had a few hundred subscribers, seeing as the video was actually (as in, compared to the video essays one usually finds here which could be shortened to about a minute or two but go on for ten to twenty minutes) good. I hope you keep making more. The DFW bit made a lot of sense here and I'm glad you added it, as I've always thought Joe Pera's comedy is the best answer to the problem DFW addresses with contemporary lit in his E Pluribus Unum essay, that problem of course being irony, which, ironically, is coming from television.

Joe Pera quickly became one of my favorite comics simply because of his sincerity. I instantly felt like I was his best friend. Some times our lives are completely full of chaos and we just need to slow down and take in the little things in life. That is Joe. That is what we need.
